Game Modifications

Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted is a highly modifiable game and user-created game modifications are encouraged to exercise creativity and community. Virtrium LLC does not host nor redistribute any game modifications outside of spaces offered to discuss them. Download and utilization of game modifications are to be done at the discretion of the user; Virtrium LLC does not take any responsibility for any form of damages that may occur to the user’s game, computer, or account when using third-party modifications.

Authorization of Use of Assets

Game assets distributed with Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted may be used to create additional third-party content and modifications for the game. Virtrium LLC maintains ownership of all game assets, content and intellectual property, and does not consent to their utilization outside of the game system.

Modification and additions are only explicitly allowable through the use of the included ‘resources_override’ folder. Modification of the game client and other assets immutable through the use of the resources_override folder are not supported and are explicitly against the game’s Terms of Use and the End User License Agreement.

Modification Rules

Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted allows its users to modify the game through the use of its in-built ‘resources override’ folder. The use of these game modifications, henceforth called “mods”, are allowed with the exception of the below circumstances.

1. Mods that provide a gameplay advantage, definable as something that allows an individual to progress more easily (reduced time/effort) than other players.

1. This does not apply to accessibility or visual indicator mods that may make certain actions more identifiable.
2. This applies to modifications that remove or allow circumvention of barriers, such as modifying certain files to build bridges or remove water.

2. Mods that include sexual or obscene content, including but not limited to the depiction or description of sexual activity, genitalia, or sexual fluids, including non-direct implications.
3. Mods that depict hateful content against any race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious belief, physical or mental disability, and similar categories.
4. Mods that are malicious or contain malicious data, such as keyloggers or viruses.
5. Mods intended to be harmful or offensive to certain groups or individuals; mods intended to harass or demean.

Virtrium LLC reserves the right to remove content that violates any of the above guidelines as well as exercise its right to remove modified content that it deems unbefitting of the game system. Users found violating these rules may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of one’s account.

Addendum: Applications

Use of third-party applications to modify or remove any functions of the Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted client or its communications to the server are prohibited. However, companion applications that read log or client data to display information otherwise available to end users are permissible.
