Subject: Protect Our Children - Revoke Jeff Myers’ Teaching Certificate

Members of the State Board of Education,

I am writing to address a concerning and shocking issue within the Kingfisher Independent School District. Recently, the local school board voted unanimously to re-hire Jeff Myers for the 2024-2025 school year. Myers has been proven to exhibit and foster abusive behavior towards students under his supervision.

Myers has:

• Pending felony criminal charges against him for child neglect
• 3 law enforcement investigations for child abuse against his program since being at Kingfisher
• Cost KISD and the tax payers over $6.4 million in settlement and legal fees for a federal civil suit brought against him for abuse
• 4 known sexual assaults in the football locker room under his watch
• Pending teaching certificate revocation by the Oklahoma State Department of Education

Myers has overseen and encouraged a toxic culture of physical, mental and sexual abuse spanning his near 20-year career with the school. As a concerned citizen, I am shocked by the decision of our local school board to rehire a man that has cost these students and this community so much. I respectfully request that action be taken by the State Board of Education to immediately remove Jeff Myers from any form of teaching or coaching and help keep our kids safe.

Since the leaders of our district have proven time and time again to support this abusive behavior by allowing Myers to continue teaching our youth, please consider scheduling a hearing to immediately revoke Myers’ teaching certificate to prevent any additional harm toward our children. This may be our only course of action to keep our students safe.
