Flying clown rules

Purpose: This event is intended for all fliers and pit crews interested in a simple racing event which uses a common aircraft, emphasizes both speed and economy, and encourages the use of a wide variety of engines.

Flying lines must be .015 52’ with a 6” tolerance measured from the center of the fuselage to the center of the handle line must be able to withstand a 25 pound pull test with one end being held at the handle and the other end being held at the fuselage with one hand on the fuselage behind the wing and one hand on the fuselage in front of the wing. All lines will be measured and pull tested prior to the competition.

All engines with a displacement of less than .1999 cubic inches will be allowed engines may be modified in any way internal or external so long as the displacement is less than .1999 cubic inches.

Fuel tanks may be no more than 1 ounce and must be suction style. fast fills are not allowed all vents and fills must be no more than ⅛ inch inside diameter beyond that all tank modifications and fuel consumption restrictions are legal tanks may be filled with fuel of your choice whether it be glo gas or diesel. Fuel shut-offs are illegal and may not be mounted on airplanes during the race

The aircraft must be a flying clown or a faithful replica it may have internal modifications however external modifications of any kind are prohibited modifications to planking are visible and therefore prohibited it must have either 2 1” landing gear wheel or 1 2” landing gear wheel lead outs and rudder offset are not required to comply with the plans adjustable leadout guide and adjustile tip weight are allowed.

Hot gloves are prohibited

Races each heat will be 15 minutes the event will be run in double elimination each preliminary race will have 2 participants the final race will have 3 participants each pilot will have a  2 pit people crew if there is enough participants if there is not enough participants then they will only have one each. All ties will be broken by a fly-off.
