Estimadas familias de Alma,

Estamos preparados para el eclipse solar del lunes 8 de abril de 2024

El lunes 8 de abril nos espera un evento celeste trascendental: un eclipse solar. Comenzando a las 2:15 pm y concluyendo a las 4:38 pm, con una cobertura máxima del 91% prevista alrededor de las 3:30 pm, este eclipse promete un espectáculo impresionante para todos los que lo presencian. Esto es algo poco común; de hecho, pasarán 21 años hasta que otro eclipse solar total sea visible en los Estados Unidos.

Sin embargo, este evento presenta un desafío único, ya que coincide con la hora de salida de nuestros estudiantes. Garantizar su seguridad mientras experimentan este fenómeno es muy importante. Para abordar este desafío, nos complace anunciar que tendremos anteojos para ver eclipses para cada estudiante. Estas gafas están diseñadas específicamente para permitir una visualización segura del eclipse.

A los estudiantes se les enseñarán consejos de seguridad para ver un eclipse, reiterando lo importante que es no mirar al sol durante ninguna parte del evento sin gafas especiales. Despediremos a la familia para que los recoja desde el interior del edificio y los estudiantes tendrán sus vasos para cuando se reúnan con ustedes al final del día. A los pasajeros del autobús se les indicará que se pongan las gafas cuando salgan del edificio para subir al autobús. Estamos emocionados de experimentar este espectacular evento con nuestra comunidad de Alma.

Dear Ottiwell Families,

We are prepared for the Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024 On Monday, April 8th, a momentous celestial event awaits us: a Solar Eclipse. Starting at 2:15 pm and concluding at 4:38 pm, with the peak coverage of 91% anticipated around 3:30 pm, this eclipse promises a breathtaking spectacle for all who witness it.  This is a rare occurrence; in fact, it will be 21 years until another Total Solar Eclipse will be visible in the United States.

However, this event presents a unique challenge, as it coincides with dismissal time for our students. Ensuring their safety while experiencing this phenomenon is very important. To address this challenge, we are happy to announce we will have eclipse-viewing glasses for each scholar. These glasses are specifically designed to enable safe viewing of the eclipse.

Scholars will be taught safety tips for viewing an eclipse, reiterating how important it is to not look at the sun during any part of the event without the special glasses. We will dismiss family pick up from inside the building and scholars will have their glasses for when they meet you at the end of the day. Bus riders will be instructed to put their glasses on when they leave the building to get onto their bus. We are excited to experience this spectacular event with our Alma community.
