Alumni Appreciation: Charles Bedirian

The Wells-Ogunquit Youth Football and Cheerleading Association’s current Board of Directors would like for you to turn your attention to the center of the field for a brief presentation.

There is so much hard-work, thought, and spirit that drives a non-profit organization such as ours to strive and grow! We would like to take a moment to give thanks to the Founder’s of our program, and acknowledge their efforts in developing a volunteer run program to bring youth football and cheerleading to the  Wells and Ogunquit Communities.

Their efforts began in 1994, with many parents stepping up to make it possible. We would like to ask Charles Bedirian, long time board member, coach, and Warrior Football fan to accept a token of appreciation on behalf of the founders and alumni of WOYFCA that have put in the work.

Coach Bedirian mentioned the type of dedication that was required in our early years, such as picking up 18 kids daily to bring them to practice, having to build their own practice field, scavenging for equipment, and hosting pasta parties at his restaurant in Ogunquit. He has fond memories of his time coaching and the players he coached. He reports it was fun, but it was work.

Because of folks like Coach Bedirian, the other founding members, and many MANY dedicated volunteers along the way we have built our programs up to become something we can really take pride in! We will do our best to keep the programs flourishing and make you proud!

If any community members would like to contribute to this amazing homegrown organization, please contact a current board member or coach for details on how you can help support.

Now let’s put our hands together and say “Thanks” for getting us started…
