Choir (Concert Choir, Coral, Singers) Concert Choir is designed for 9th graders, Choral for 10-12 graders who did not audition into the Singers Choir (Varsity), Singers for 10-12 graders who successfully auditioned into the group.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Swain (mgswain@mpsomaha.org)

Debate:  Competitive debate team. Debate is a class and an extra-curricular activity, as students must be enrolled in the class to be part of the team.  We attend competitive debate tournaments and participation can lead to membership in the National Speech and Debate Association, a national honorary organization. Millard North has one of the largest teams in the state and country. Mr. Sutton (djsutton@mpsomaha.org).

DECA:  DECA is designed to develop the leadership, career, and social skills of business students. Besides district, state, and national DECA events, the Millard North DECA Chapter is involved with social events and school/community activities. Students must be enrolled in a business class in order to participate.

Delta Epsilon Phi National Honor Society for High School Students of German: Delta Epsilon Phi was founded in 1968 to reward scholastic achievement in the study of German and to promote interest in the study of the German language, literature, and civilization. Students in honors-track German courses may apply in the spring upon completion of three or more semesters of high school German. Delta Epsilon Phi members plan and provide leadership in German Club events and meetings. Sponsor: Ms. Brennan (wmbrennan@mpsomaha.org)

Dramatic Productions (Fall Play, Winter Play, Spring Musical,Student Directed One-Acts) Students prepare and present three full-length theater productions including a fall play, a winter play and a spring musical.  The Advanced Theatre & Performance class also will produce a student-directed One-Act Showcase that students may participate in.  Any student may sign up to work on set construction, makeup, costumes, publicity, lighting, sound, and stage crew activities.  Acting is open through auditions.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Williamson, (mswilliamson@mpsomaha.org)  

Forensics:  Competitive speech and drama team. Forensics is a class and an extra-curricular activity, as students must be enrolled in the class to be part of the team.  We attend competitive speech tournaments and participation can lead to membership in the National Speech and Debate Association, a national honorary organization. Journalism: Journalism (The Hoofbeat, The Stampede, The Blue View, mnhsonline.com) This group is for students interested in working for the The Hoofbeat school newspaper, The Stampede Yearbook, The Blue View broadcast, and/or the mnhsonline.com website. It is co-curricular, so it is advised students register for the classes. It also involves working on publications before and after school. Latin Honor Society: Latin Honor Society: requires application. Associatio Ad Promovendum Studium Latinum is dedicated to the promotion and study of the Latin language, by enabling scholars to demonstrate leadership through pursuing academic roles within and outside of the classroom setting.  Scholars are rewarded for their exemplary performance in the study of Latin and engaging community involvement through activities and lessons. The application process determines participation, which occurs during or after Honors Latin II. All scholars meeting the standards are welcome to apply.

Mustang Mentoring Program (MMP):  Mustang Mentors meet with a group of freshmen every Monday during Mustang Time.  They also meet once a week before school on Monday mornings to prepare for the homeroom lesson.  MMP is a leadership development program for upperclassmen with retreats and events throughout the year to build these skills.

National Honor Society:  Students must apply in junior or senior year.  The selection of members is done every May.  Members meet monthly.  Students exemplify and develop the four pillars necessary for membership: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Orchestra/Strings: (Philharmonic, Symphony, and Chamber) Orchestra is a co-curricular class that is open to any student who plays violin, viola, cello, or double bass.  Students in orchestra perform a wide range of music for school concerts and other events.  If you are interested in learning a stringed instrument, contact the instructor. Students must be enrolled in Orchestra classes to participate in concerts.

Robotics Team: The Millard North Robotics Competition Team provides an opportunity for students to work as a team in order to practice the process of designing, building, and programming electro-mechanical robots for competition.  Students are able to participate in organized events, sponsored by VEX ROBOTICS, to compete with their team’s robot.   Sponsor:  Mr. Brady (jrbrady@mpsomaha.org)  

Show Choir:  Students who successfully audition into show choir must be in one of the choirs.

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica/SHH (the Spanish national honor society): Students must apply in junior or senior year. The selection of members is done every September. Members meet monthly and perform a variety of services to the community and Spanish-speaking world.  The purpose of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is to recognize high achievement in Spanish and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic studies.

Unified Bowling: Unified Bowling is an amazing bowling team that includes special education and general education players! We accept new and seasoned bowlers. See Mrs. Rohde (tjrohde@mpsomaha.org)  for more information!

Unified Cheer: Unified cheer is a fun cheerleading group that includes special education students, Varsity, and JV cheerleaders.  We support MNHS at games and other events. We meet every Thursday, 3:15-3:45 PM, Rm. 1113.

DISTRICT APPROVED CLUBS

Art Club: Art club is a time available for students to build their portfolio and have extra time in the studio to create works of art.  There is an emphasis on fine art creation - no anime, etc.  Projects range from student choice, group technique building, and trying new media.  Studio space is limited.  Fee is required for membership in the art club to purchase materials. Chemistry Club:  An American Chemical Society (ACS) accredited club open to anyone interested in chemistry. ACS provides our club with activities, world-wide projects and online lecture events to be involved in. Sponsor: Ms. Compton (dfcompton@mpsomaha.org)

Chess Club: This club gives students an opportunity to play friendly games of chess against their peers in a low-stress environment.  Students of all levels are welcome to attend.  Competitive players also meet during this time to practice, learn, and improve abilities as well as increase their chances of being successful at metro and state competitions.  Chess club fosters the scholar’s intellectual growth and problem-solving skills while having fun.   Sponsor: Mr. Stromberg (jtstromberg@mpsomaha.org)

Computer Science Club:  If you have a mind for solving puzzles and propensity for innovation this is the club for you. Put your coding skills to test and design/write algorithms to solve real problems.  Join us and compete in hackathons and programming competitions hosted by local universities in the Omaha/Lincoln area.

Diversity Club: Diversity Club is a safe space for people of all identities. We celebrate folks of different racial and ethnic identities, faith identities, abilities and disabilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socioeconomic statuses, and other groups. We come together both to celebrate and talk about our differences, and also to work toward creating a more intentional, actively inclusive school environment. Educators Rising: Educators Rising is an organization that helps make sure future teachers have the experience and skills they need to be ready for the classroom. Starting with high school students, we provide passionate young people with hands-on teaching experience, sustain the interest in the profession, and help them cultivate the skills they need to be successful educators. History Club: Meets monthly to discuss a historical time period, place, culture or event. Play games, including trivia, timeline games, and more! HOSA:  This club is an activity designed to develop knowledge, skill and leadership development for students who have an interest in health and medicine.   Students will have the opportunity to participate in various workshops, social events, school/ community activities as well as state and national leadership competitions. HOSA meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 3:30 OR the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:20 in room 2642.

Interact Club (through the Rotary):   Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of service above self. Connect with leaders in your community and around the world to:  Take action to make a difference in your school and community, discover new cultures and promote international understanding, become a leader in your school and community, have fun and make new friends from around the world. Junior Class Board: This board plans Prom including theme, decorations & invitations. Also plans other junior class events. Application process begins in September and meetings will be held on Mondays after school.  Sponsor: Ms. Roberts (adroberts@mpsomaha.org)

Lacrosse Club:  open to all students regardless of experience. Our Boys team plays in the NELAX High School league & the Girls team plays in the MGLL. Opportunities to play in Fall and Spring. Multi-Sport athletes welcomed. Join our club and learn more about America’s Oldest Team Sport and the fastest game on two feet!

Language Clubs (German, Latin):  Club sponsors monthly activities of a cultural nature.  Members are offered a mixture of cultural and social activities that are educational in nature.  Open to all world language students. Literary Magazine (MUSE): The MNHS Muse is a student literary and art magazine. Student editors review and publish work by MNHS students, staff, and alumni bi-annually via a digital publication. We are a group of developing artists and writers who enjoy being part of something bigger than ourselves -- The MUSE. We believe that our students have extraordinary work that deserves to be shared with the world. We are ready to publish work for the rest of the school to read, see, and get inspired by.

Math Club:  This club meets to prepare for math competitions throughout the year and to practice high level problem solving strategies.  Students also learn advanced mathematics not learned in the classroom.

National Science Bowl (U.S. Department of Energy (DOE): a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. High school student teams are comprised of four students, one alternate, and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. These teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and math. The club meets weekly during the fall semester and early winter to practice, and the competition is usually held on a Saturday in mid-February.

Science Olympiad Team: Science Olympiad is a multi-faceted science competition with an Olympic-like format.  Students can compete in events ranging from cell biology to building robotic arms.  Millard North has a team that competes at the state level.  It is a competitive event and space on the team is limited.

Scorevision Digital Media Club:  This club designs the digital media for the video scoreboard in the gym.

Senior Class Board: This is a student leadership organization.  Our main responsibilities include selection of the class motto, the senior banquet, superlatives, senior gift and service opportunities.

SkillsUSA:  Industrial Technology Club designed to work with students interested in vocational trades. SkillsUSA helps develop team efforts, career goals and leadership skills by attending Leadership Conferences, State and possibly National Competitions.  Sponsor:  Mr. Dunn (gldunn@mpsomaha.org)

Slam Poetry:  Under the guidance of teaching artists from the Nebraska Writers Collective, students will have the opportunity to experiment with poetry and develop their artistic voice in a space that fosters growth and empathy. There will also be an opportunity to submit and perform your work for a competition, though participation in the competition is not required. All Rights Reserved, formerly LTAB, will meet on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in room 2152.

Student Council:  Promotes the development of student leaders. Applications are required. Members of Student Council plan homecoming and promote school spirit.

Unified Club: A friendship club for students with and without disabilities. Our meetings consist of a variety of games and activities. We also go on a couple outings outside of school. We meet the last Tuesday of each month from 3:15-4:00 PM . Room 1113. (Time & Location subject to change)

Writers' Club: Open to all Millard North High School students.  It is an opportunity to connect with students who write creatively. Club activities vary and often include a prompt that everyone writes about. The club meets in room 2135 every Friday after school. Sponsor:  Ms. Carroll (cmcarroll@mpsomaha.org)

Millard North supports the initiative of students who wish to propose an idea that would be approved as a Student-Led Group. Applications for a Student-Led Group can be picked up in the Administration Office. Clubs are approved for one school year only. New applications must be filled out each year.
