Homework expectations
Homework is set at the discretion of the teacher, but if it is set it must be strictly within the homework timetable which will be ready on the Portal next week. We are including designated homework periods in the student timetables to help organisation.
Grades 6, 7 and 8
- All subjects set one piece of homework per week in accordance with the homework timetable.
- Each item of homework should last no longer than 30-40 minutes.
- It is expected that homework will be marked in some way. This can include peer and self assessment, e.g. going through the answers together in class.
- Deadlines must not be the next day. For example, a homework set on Monday cannot be due the following day; it must be due on Wednesday or later.
- It is acceptable to ask students to do small amounts of finishing off in addition to the homework timetable, but this should only be a few minutes work and not equal to a full homework.
Grade 9/10
- Homework to be set once a week by all subjects.
- Homework expected to last no longer than 30-60 minutes.
- Homework should be marked in some way (self/peer assessment is acceptable).
- No homework to be submitted the next day - two evenings to always Deadlines must not be the next day. For example, a homework set on Monday cannot be due the following day; it must be due on Wednesday or later.

Grade 11/12
- Homework to be set as required; no homework timetable
- Teachers required to negotiate with the class regarding the amount of homework and deadlines
- It is acceptable to ask students to do small amounts of finishing off in addition to the homework timetable, but this should only be a few minutes work and not equal to a full homework.
Online Classes
- Online classes’ homework and practice can either be done on paper or digitally.
- Either way, create a Google doc on your drive, answer the questions on the doc or take pictures and insert it in the document. Share your link.
- If you have to submit a video as part of your homework, please upload the video on your google drive first and share the link in the assignment dropbox.
- Important note: ensure you change the sharing options to 'anyone with this link can view'.
