Davis Brandi will be showing his lacrosse documentary on May 17th in the Lincoln High Theater. The documentary, made in collaboration with the LHS Lacrosse Team and Coach Kyle Morris, is about the memories of being on the first lacrosse team at Lincoln and explores the relationships along with the effects that this sport has on other students.
Brandi, a senior and a media student, brought the idea of this documentary to Morris who thought it would be a great story to share with other students who are possibly interested in playing lacrosse in the future. He also believed that it would draw students' attention and get them interested in joining the team.
“I wanted to make a jump and test my creativity to spread the story and background of the first year lacrosse program, which was like a match made in heaven”, said Brandi.
Although Brandi doesn't play, he wanted to spread a great story about lacrosse. He enjoys watching the sport and believed his documentary would be a great way to acknowledge it.
“Being around the sport definitely made me enjoy it more,” said Brandi.
Morris has a history with Lacrosse and was first introduced to it in 8th grade when he was at home sick from school and saw college Lacrosse on his TV. From that moment on, it was an instant connection. He had found out that his highschool started coaching lacrosse, so he talked to the coach who told him to “grab a stick and hit the wall”. He continued to do that every single day.
“Freshman year I made it on varsity and fell in love with the sport”, Morris said.
He started coaching lacrosse when he got out of highschool, he enjoyed teaching and playing the sport so he settled in between and started coaching.
“I enjoyed playing in High school, and coaching was the best of both worlds”, said Morris.
This is the chance for the players to spread how much they love this program and to be part of something great. “The lacrosse program is just the start of a dynasty,” stated Morris.“We have won 4 games in league and are undefeated against other Lincoln schools.”
Brandi’s documentary will premiere on Wednesday night, May 17th in the Lincoln High Theater.
