Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra continues 2019-2020 season with ‘Everybody Loves a Classic’

LAWTON, Okla. — The Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra will continue its 2019-2020 season, “The Concerto Games,” with its second concert, “Everybody Loves a Classic.” The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. February 8 at the McMahon Memorial Auditorium, 801 NW Ferris in Lawton.

The orchestra will perform works by Mozart and Haydn and will feature solos from two of the orchestra’s principal musicians. Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto will feature Stacey DiPaolo, principal clarinet, and Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3 will feature Kate Pritchett, principal horn. The orchestra will also perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 4, “Surprise.” The Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra is directed by Maestro Jon Kalbfleisch.

Mozart and Haydn are the very embodiment of “classical” music. The Mozart wind concerti remain supreme examples of the genre, and require great “athletic” ability to play them. The clarinet concerto and third horn concerto are absolutely infectious with melody and classical fun. Haydn’s “Surprise” Symphony, takes fun to another level to round out the program.

Tickets for the concert are $10-$50 depending on section and can be purchased online at www.lawtonphil.com or by calling 580-531-5043.

The Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra performs symphonic music at the highest professional level to educate and entertain diverse audiences in the Southwest Oklahoma region. More information can be found at www.lawtonphil.com.
