AGNOR-HURT PTO MEETING AGENDA January 16, 2024 6:30pm
Mission- To promote an active and open partnership within the Agnor-Hurt Elementary School community in order to inspire students to fully realize their academic, social, and emotional potential while nurturing their cultural and community awareness.

Principals Update- Dr. Irani
- Addressing the top of affinity groups, are there specific groups or topics that you would be interested in connecting with.
Budget Update- Katie Shipley & Haley Neumann
- Make sure we are spending the money we have. We are doing really well with income vs expenses; we just really need to focus on what we said we are going to spend. Need someone to follow up to make sure the big line items are spent.
- Follow up with regular teachers and make sure they are using their allowance.
- Question was asked if we could just “donate” to the teachers rather than wait for receipts. Katie said she would look into it. Also, the question was posed could we going forward let the teachers know before the school year started that they have funds available.
- Teacher Rep would oversee doing this. Ms. Sims has reminded the teachers as well.
- Putting the information in poster form to advertise more to the teachers.
- Amazon lists have been going well.
Family Council Update- Sam Peacoe
Family Council hasn’t met yet and the next meeting has been canceled due to the weather. The topic to be discussed was Algebra 1. Sam said that they would bring information back once available.
Business
- Kendra Scott Book Drive * New Date February 3rd – They confirmed the date. A great way for the teachers to build up their library in their room.
- BookFair Update – The week of April 17th, Nadia has all the information for the book fair. Scholastic is very different because it is an E-wallet so it tracks through there. Children do not have to bring money, they will get an e-voucher.
- Walkathon Pizza Parties -
- All the kids are asking, Nikki spoke with Katie about getting this done. Thoughts were to do the pizza party at the end of the day since outside food cannot be brought into the cafeteria.
- Dr. Irani confirmed it cannot be brought in the cafeteria. One idea was to have the pizza party in the classroom but doesn’t think the teachers would be thrilled.
- Katie said that splitting the parties into different days would be more manageable. She is working on a schedule and will connect with Nikki and they will let the teachers know about a week in advance so they can prepare.
- The first party would have to be the 2 of February due to the time off.
- Coffee Dates & Volunteers
- The end of January & February - Monday January 29th, Emily Hall and Nikki will do Coffee Cart. Amy said that she can help Katie with Coffee Cart in February.
- Appreciation week
- Principals Appreciation Week January 15th -
- School Counselor Appreciation Week Feb 5th
- Bus Safety Petition – A parent wants to add bus cameras to the bus stops, theres a little over 200 signatures and she needs 500.
- Dance Party “Feel The Beat Dance” February 16 –
- Confirm time 6:00-8 or 6:30-8:00
- Will we have food, such as popcorn and if so we would keep it in the cafeteria.
- Maybe we can make it into a restaurant night, a mobile food truck was a thought.\
- Sam, Emily, Ashley committee, will need to come up with a good food night.
- Nick Feggans ( Dj Runway) fee $250
- Movie Night March 8th
- Trolls 3 or Elemental – Take a vote from the children at the dance party for which video to watch.
- Tshirt Update –
- Teka is approving the proof, and it says that it takes about 2 weeks to get approved. Katie said to just let her know when payment is due and she’ll take care of it.
- End of month at the earliest would be when we would receive them. Will need volunteers to help sort (2 or 3).
- Multicultural Update –
- Teka is meeting with Kim and Leslie to go over ideas. The newsletter will have a form for parents to be involved.
- Scrappy Elephant – Is willing to come for multi-cultural night for crafts.
- Reminde we have $1,000 budget for multicultural night.
- Teka expressed the need for more help if people are willing, since it is a big endeavor.
- Dr. Irani and Teka will meet in the next two weeks to go over things for multicultural night.
- Restaurant Night for February –
- Amy was going to reach out to Cathy to see if Bojangles would be available.
- Guajiros would be for March.
- Testing starts in the second week of May and is ongoing. Sam asked if we could do something to support the staff during testing as appreciation.
- $700 for remaing appreciation days roughly about $100 per person. (February 5th. )
- There is no appreciation set aside for the Librarian.
