Dear Juniors and Parents/Guardians:
On Tuesday, April 13th, LHS will be administering the mandated SAT to all eleventh graders. The individual SAT score reports will be available to students within 6-8 weeks from the College Board. District test results will be reported on the School Report Card in the fall.
Students should prepare to do their best on testing days:
● Get a good night’s sleep the night before
● Eat breakfast and arrive at school on time
● Bring pencils and a calculator with them
● Take the test seriously, as it will impact their future
All juniors will be testing on this date and will be dismissed once the test is completed. Testing and intermittent breaks will total approximately four hours, so students will be free to leave by 12:00 or once all testing is completed.
Participation in the SAT is a graduation requirement and therefore mandatory; however, receiving free SAT scores is a privilege. Students who engage in prohibited behavior (creating disturbances, giving/receiving help, working on previous test sections, working beyond time or using a prohibited calculator) will not receive their SAT score, and their answer documents will be voided. If any test protocol is violated, it will be the student’s responsibility to retake the SAT test during a national test day and pay the required fees.
There are a few things students can be doing before taking the SAT. Khan Academy has provided each student with a free test prep account. In addition, LHS also strongly encourages students to visit the College Board website at http://www.collegeboard.org/. Once scores are available, they will be linked to each student’s individual College Board accounts. See the reverse side of this letter for more information.
Students who desire to take the ACT or retake the SAT should know that it is the student’s responsibility to register and pay for a national test date. Students can find dates and locations and register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org or for the SAT at www.collegeboard.org.
It is time for juniors to begin thinking about the next phase of their education. The SAT is a big step in that direction. Students should do their best to ensure that as many doors as possible are open for college and scholarship. Please see Mrs. Cress if you have any questions.
Professionally,
Karen Cress
