    SPECIAL NEEDS FITNESS TRAINING


Adaptive Fitness & Movement classes were formed in accordance with the American Council on Exercise using the Autism Fitness programing integrating Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. Programming is individualized and developed based on assessments, to ensure client success, and establish positive exercise experiences. Autism presents differently in everyone, but for many individuals on the spectrum and with other disabilities, traditional exercise or personal training options are not suitable. Adaptive Fitness & Movement programing makes exercise fun and enables individuals with ASD and other special needs to experience the countless benefits that come with a healthier lifestyle.

Adaptive Fitness & Movement provides the highest standards of in-home personal training and group exercise classes for individuals with special needs. Programming is individualized and developed based on assessments, to ensure client success, and establish positive exercise experiences.

Adaptive Fitness & Movement provides children with autism and other special needs a safe environment to have fun, improve their health!  Everyone should have the opportunity to reach their fitness potential!

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is the world’s largest nonprofit health and fitness organization. ACE is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Personal trainers operating in accordance with the ACE standards, follow a comprehensive approach from assessments to training.


Certified Autism Fitness Practitioner

Eric Chessen of Autism Fitness has been providing personal training services to individuals with ASD for over a decade. Over the course of his training career he has developed the first certification for autism fitness trainers. The LVL 1 Certified Autism Fitness Practitioner program integrates Applied Behavior Analysis, learning styles and exercise sciences.

ADULT FITNESS CLASSES


Boot Camp / Group Circuit (1 hour approx.)

Our boot camp workout consists of cardiovascular conditioning (running or walking, plyometrics), strength training (weights, stability balls, resistance bands, medicine balls, Glides) and stretching. The coaches vary the exercises and format for every workout so no two boot camp sessions are the same.  We will challenge you every class!  Our goal is to offer encouragement rather than intimidation. We want you to have tons of fun – but be prepared for some high intensity training! (Beginner to Advanced).

Stretch & Strengthening (50 minutes)

Our Stretch & Strengthening class is a blend of total body strength work along with stretching exercises.  Improve your muscle tone, strength, core stability and flexibility all in one class.  Class begins with a warm-up of stretches focusing on increasing flexibility, then we transition to strength and stability training using free weights, resistance bands, stability balls along with body weight exercises.  We wrap up class with relaxing stretches.  Variations of each exercise are provided to accommodate all fitness levels.  (Beginner to Advanced).

Yoga for Kids

Introducing your children to yoga at an early age can help them learn healthy lifestyle habits and set the foundation for a fit future. Our Yoga for Kids classes incorporate Yoga, mindfulness and relaxation for kids in a supportive and fun class.
