Welcome Back/School Cash Online

Welcome back to all of our returning students and a warm welcome to all of our new students! Thanks to all of the staff, students and parents for making the first day of school such a great experience. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces. Please feel free to contact the school by email or phone if you ever have any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to another incredible year of learning!

Also, School Cash Online is up and running The student activity fees can now be paid using this online payment system. We will also be using School Cash Online for our school food programs. More information will be coming soon. All new families are invited to sign up for School Cash Online, it takes very little time.

Open House and Opening Mass

Our school open house will be held on Thursday, September 12th, from 4:30-6:00pm. This will be a great opportunity for parents to learn about the class routines, expectations, and the exciting curriculum that will be covered in your child’s classroom this year. We hope that many parents are able to attend this event.

On Thursday, September 12th, we will also have our Opening Mass at St. Michael Parish at 9:30am. We look forward to celebrating as a school with Father Matthew.

School Council Meeting

Get involved, make a difference!

The first Corkery School Council meeting for the 2019-2020 school year will be held on Tuesday, September 10th from 6:30 to 7:30pm in the Learning Commons. All parents are welcome.

This year we will be looking for volunteers to help organize activities such as food programs, special events such as Christmas in Corkery and our end of year carnival celebration. These programs are 100% volunteer-driven and not possible without your help. Meetings are short and agenda-driven once per month (as needed).

Whether you can volunteer during the day or help with administrative tasks after hours from home, WE NEED YOU!

We look forward to welcoming you to our first meeting. If you have any questions or want additional information regarding council and our activities please email corkerycouncil@gmail.com

Join us and have a hand in creating a safe, challenging, inspiring environment for all our kids.

Thanks from the 2018-2019 Corkery Council

Vulnerable Sector Checks for Volunteers

Volunteers working with students in the OCSB must complete a vulnerable sector check. This includes parents and other volunteers taking part in field trips, those working with students in schools, and those volunteering at events where they may be in isolation with students even for a brief period of time (eg., meeting in a small area to distribute food/beverages).
Please note that there are three types of Criminal Record Checks; Level 1: Criminal Record Check (CRC) Level 2: Criminal Record Check and Judicial Matters Check (CRJM) Level 3: Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
Anyone over 18 who wishes to take part in a volunteer opportunity in a school must complete a Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check.
Information about applying for the Vulnerable Sector Check can be found at: https://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/about-us/Level-3---Vulnerable-Sector-Check.aspx
Below is an information package about volunteering from the School Board and two forms that should be included with your Vulnerable Sector Check application.

Volunteer VSC Letter from OCSB:

There will be a $10 fee until the end of December for the Vulnerable Sector Check. In 2020, the fee will be $20.
Please bring your completed VSC and your receipt to the school and we will reimburse you and create a database of approved volunteers. Thank you for taking the time to have this completed as we will always need volunteers!
