The schedules will come out on September 3rd-4th.Please read through all this for additional info. If not covered here please email questions to  AMARILLOAREAYOUTHBASEBALL@GMAIL.COM

NOTE: We will not play October 10th-13th so families can enjoy the fall break.

All players who register and go through the payment process by the deadline will be guaranteed a spot on a team. As stated above, the very latest a player can register is midnight on the August 10th.

Evaluations Date: Saturday, August 16th.
Location: Rick Klein Baseball Complex located at 3901 S Grand.
NOTE: PROTECTED PLAYERS DO NOT ATTEND EVALUATIONS AS THEY ARE PICKED FIRST BY THE COACH.
Majors and Babe Ruth:
10:00-11:00
Rookie and Minors:

Last name begins with A-L 12:00-1:00
Last name begins with M-Z 1:00-2:00

KneeHigh and PeeWee do not participate in the evaluations. The coaches will contact parents within 48 hours after the drafts are done to let them know which team their kid is on. If you have not heard from your coach by Thursday August the 22nd please email your kid(s) name, age, and your contact information to AmarilloAreaYouthBaseball@gmail.com

If a player is unable to attend the evaluations, they will still be drafted to a team, but will be drafted at the end and in draft order by age and alphabetically. Please make sure your player is dressed for the weather and if possible in baseball pants, and a hat. Also have them bring their bat, glove, a drink, sun screen, etc. Every season we have kids leave bats, gloves, etc. behind so it is always a good idea to have their names on them and to double check before leaving that they have everything.

Draft: THIS IS ONLY FOR THE COACHES TO ATTEND. PARENTS AND PLAYERS DO NOT ATTEND

Date:
Tuesday, August 19th from 5:30-7:30 for PeeWee 5-6’s, Rookie 7-8’s, Minors 9-10’s, Majors 11-12’s, and Babe Ruth 13-15’s. KneeHigh does not attend the draft.

Location: TBA The location will be sent out to all coaches with additional information.

Players who do not evaluate will be picked last and in the draft order to help prevent coaches from picking players they know are more talented that others don’t know.

Protect 6 rule: We encourage coaches to use a single age when putting together their protected players list and also allow them to protect a maximum of 6 players. This does include the coach(s) kids. This will allow them to develop players within a single age group and keep them each year without having to drop and add from their protected list as they move to older divisions.
NOTE: PROTECTED PLAYERS DO NOT ATTEND EVALUATIONS AS THEY ARE PICKED FIRST BY THE COACH.

VERY IMPORTANT: If you are coaching and will have any protected players, make sure to get the following done as soon as possible.

  1. Complete your online coaches registration which will have a spot where you must list your protected players. Make sure you have the spelling correct.
  2. Complete your background check unless you completed one this past spring and make sure ALL your assistant coaches do the same. Please follow up with them and make sure it gets done. It’s required annually and there are no exceptions. It’s a league policy and required by the city to use fields, but also a federal requirement per the Safe Sport Act of 2017.
  3. Make sure ALL your protected players get registered by their parents by the registration deadline which is midnight on August 10. No player will be allowed on a coaches protected players list unless they are registered online. Every year we have a player that doesn’t get registered because the parent misunderstands thinking they are good to go because the coach told them they included them on their protected list. When this happens and if the rosters are full, we won’t be able to add anymore so they would miss the season.
  4. Finally, you must also email your list of protected players to AmarilloAreaYouthBaseball@gmail.com Make sure you have the spelling correct with first and last name only like it is listed on their birth certificate. Also please make sure they are committed to be on your protected players list.

If we have a situation where we have too many coaches for a division, coaches who have coached in the previous season will be picked first as the head coach. After that, it will be who registered to coach first.

VERY IMPORTANT: The emailed list of protected players must be received no later than Monday August 11 and must include all the player's names. Send the list to AmarilloAreaYouthBaseball@gmail.com. All protected players must be registered on the website and paid in full by the deadline to be included on your protect 6 list at the draft.

Players participate in divisions listed below based on their age as of April 30th, 2026

VERY IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THE DIVISIONS BELOW SO YOU KNOW WHICH AGE GROUP YOU NEED TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD IN. IT’S NOT ALWAYS THE AGE THEY ARE NOW BUT THE AGE THEY WILL BE BY A CERTAIN DATE AND WE DON’T WANT ANY KID MISSING OUT BECAUSE THEY WERE REGISTERED WRONG AND THE CORRECT DIVISION IS FULL. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE EMAIL THE LEAGUE AT AmarilloAreaYouthBaseball@gmail.com

Knee High Division (3U-4U): This is a fun introduction to baseball for the little ones. All the players will only be hitting off of the batting tee. Players can play up to a max of 2 years but parents are required to email the request in advance after registering their kid in the correct division and will have to complete the waiver before being allowed to play. For example, A kid who is considered 6U (Turns 6 on or before 4/3/2026) can play up in the Rookie 7U-8U division, but a kid who's still 5 on 4/30/2026 can not. No requests will be accepted until the player is registered in their correct division and the email is received. Always send these emails to AmarilloAreaYouthBaseball@gmail.com and if you don’t get a reply within 48 hours, call the office at 806-367-8624 and leave a message with details if not answered.

Below are the details on how to register as a coach with or without a kid playing as well as how to register a player who doesn’t have a parent coaching. Please pick the correct one and follow the steps. If you have any problems, please email AmarilloAreaYouthBaseball@gmail.com

Volunteer coaches are the backbone of our program. Being a volunteer coach is demanding, but it can be very rewarding. It is really important to make sure they are having fun while learning. What they experience with you will leave a lasting impression that can make them hate the game or completely fall in love with it. No pressure, but you might be influencing a future MLB Hall of Fame player. “A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life”. If you don’t like what you see, volunteer. Please consider helping out and make a huge difference in our youth.

VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE A VOLUNTEER IN ANY CAPACITY YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE AN ANNUAL BACKGROUND CHECK. THIS INCLUDES COACHING, HELPING WITH PRACTICES, GAMES, TEAM FUNCTIONS, ETC. THESE ARE REQUIRED BY BABE RUTH, THE CITY TO USE FIELDS, AS WELL AS BEING A REQUIREMENT PER THE SAFE SPORTS ACT OF 2017. ONCE THE REGISTRATION IS COMPLETE YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL THAT HAS THE LINK TO THE PROTECT YOUTH SPORTS BACKGROUND CHECK PROCEDURE. THERE WILL ALSO BE A LINK ON THE WEBSITE FOR PROTECT YOUTH SPORTS BACKGROUND CHECK IN CASE YOU DIDN’T COMPLETE DURING YOUR REGISTRATION. SINCE SOME COACHES COMPLETED IN THE SPRING, WE LEAVE IT OPTIONAL ON THE COACHES REGISTRATION. THAT SAID, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS IS REQUIRED ANNUALLY AND IF SOMEONE IS FOUND TO BE COACHING OR VOLUNTEERING AT ANY CAPACITY WITHOUT COMPLETING ONE AND GETTING PASSED CONFIRMATION THEY WILL BE SUSPENDED FROM PARTICIPATING IN ANY TPYSF PROGRAM.
