Black History Month

 “Expressions” Contest

All Mercy students are invited to participate in the

Black History Month “Expressions” Contest

Theme: Health and Wellness in the Black Community

Guided by a quote from an African American in healthcare or from an African American on health and wellness in the Black community, students are invited to submit an essay, a story, a piece of art, music, video, poetry, or any other creative form on the topic of “Health and Wellness in the Black Community.” The top three entries will be chosen, and the selections will be featured on the Mercy website and in the Mercy Messenger.

Choose a quotation of your choice focusing on Black Health and Wellness and express yourself in any genre you wish. Your creative piece can take any form – an essay, a story, a work of art or music, a poem, or any other form of communication that you desire.

Criteria

Your submission will be evaluated based on its authentic impact and how it expresses your chosen quote. Impress us with your knowledge, insight, and ability to communicate ideas and feelings.

Submissions

Submit your original work  HERE  in any format (i.e., Word document, MP3 file, YouTube video/link, photography, artwork in any medium, etc.).  Include your name, email, and chosen quotation (with author cited), if it is not evident in your submission.

Provide substantial photos of any three-dimensional submittals (i.e., sculptures, paintings, etc.). A panel will review all submittals for original content.

Review and Award Prizes

A panel will select the top THREE winners anonymously. Each winner will receive a $100 award after being notified in March 2022.
