Accommodation

There are private cottages and dining areas, a kitchen, and researcher's quarters at Vanghat, surrounded by forest on all sides except the northeastern side, where the Ramganga River flows. The lodge has 9 cottages, 4 mud and thatched cottages, and 5 stone cottages. Each cottage can accommodate a maximum of 3 guests and has an en-suite bathroom and a veranda.

Stone Cottage

Handcrafted by local stonemasons, typical of the age old architecture of the Himalayas. They bond stone with clay, creating thick walls for insulation and are set at a height that allows you to watch birds from your balcony. These cottages are warm in winter and cool in summer - and are of low environmental impact. A modern blend has been created by putting metal sheets for roofing with an insulated ceiling.

Mud Cottage

Constructed with locally sourced clay, savannah thatch and wood, inspired by the traditional Van Gujjar tribal style that has been perfected over hundreds of years so that it perfectly suits the environment and serves as natural air-conditioners. Each cottage has a veranda surrounding three quarters of the building from which one can relax and watch the wildlife on our grounds, which have been planted with species specifically to attract bird life.

Dining

Equipped with a small rack of must reads, varying from the stories of Jim Corbett for a lazy afternoon to birding / mammals encyclopaedias, our Chaupal also doubles up as a hide for bird and mammal viewing.

The activities here are many and most of them can be availed of at a cost as specified at the lodge. We suggest you book them in advance with us.

Bird Watching

One can have excellent birding opportunities at the lodge itself. Besides, there are many rewarding walks through the terrace fields into thickly wooded oak forests. Opt for short or long walks.

We arrange for the services of a bird guide and the use of bird hides.

Please speak with us or our manager to book this service. It is chargeable though.

Walking Trails

There is no better way to truly experience the forest than by walking through it. A 100m trail can often reveal and teach more than a 2-hour game drive. Exploring the tiger-rich Jim Corbett National Park on foot is forbidden. There are several walking trails from the lodge, varying in difficulty, such as routes into the hills that surround us or along the river where many pugmarks can often be seen.

Please speak with us or our manager to book this service. It is chargeable though.

Boating

River crossing on a raft is an amazing experience in Vanghat.

Excursion

In Corbett, you can visit nearby famous places like Garjia Temple.

You may ask us for this tour.
