The Perspective of the ISCP Founder

Written by Niño Ged

INTRODUCTION & PERSONAL PROFILE

Hello ISCPanians! I am Niño Ged, an 18-year-old student from Cebu. I am a proud Cebuano and Waray. I recently graduated from Senior Highschool studying Accountancy, Business, and Management at a national high school. You might also know me as the founder of the International State College of the Philippines. I am also fond of parodies and comedy, even applying comedic structures in my writing. I also love to fool people by pranking everyone about a 'legitimate' academic institution. I am inclined to blur reality from fiction to the point where you’re confused about what’s true and what’s not. I am deeply passionate about my work.

Writing has always been my passion; through it, I found the International State College of the Philippines. I’m happy to have created a fantastic community of people sharing memes and humor through ISCP. ISCP quickly gained a lot of attention, and challenges came along with it. It was a lot of responsibility for me, and I did my best to ensure that we, as a community, could have fun and enjoy the ISCP. I admit that it was not perfect, and I may have made missteps along the way. I was also very thankful for the people who supported me and talked to me all this time.

THE CREATION OF ISCP

International State College of the Philippines was created on July 31, 2022.

It was July 30 in the morning. I was in a jeepney at that time when I conceptualized the idea of what if I created a fictional institution. I initially thought of a hospital where everything was funny. The facilities were high-tech yet boring or even can cause death. Then an idea struck my head; these nurses might be a graduate of some school that offers a course: BS in Nursing Major in Funeral Parlor Services.

The next day, July 31, after lunch, I thought of the idea again. And asked what would be its name if I created a page. It would not be just any name. I need it to sound legitimate enough, but with a hint that something was off, of course, it would be a parody school, and I don’t want to be sued by existing schools for using their name. I came up with many names, such as International College of the Philippines, Philippine International State College, Philippine International State University, and many more. I did not choose those names because they didn’t give me the best college in the university vibe. And then it struck me again, the perfect name of an institution, “International State College of the Philippines.”

I made the logo and its motto, “Filipinos sultus es satura,” there are words that are butchered in spelling because I didn’t like the way it looked: s[t]ultus and es[t]. The motto roughly means “Napupuno ng Kalokohan ang mga Pilipino,” but it’s funny when translated into English, “Filipinos are full of foolishness.”

From the afternoon until the night, I didn’t stop thinking about how to market the page to the right audiences and how to grow it. Since it was during the enrollment period, it came in pretty handy and timely to introduce the various courses, campuses, and other concepts that would make ISCP one of the best schools that don’t exist.

THE ISCP’S ORIGINAL CONCEPT

ISCP was never meant to become a meme, but it evolved in a way I did not expect. I’ve already built or planned to create faux pages such as hospitals (St. Jones Medical Center), media (LMNOP), schools (ISCP, BSUP), malls (GreanWise, NM), and other odd page concepts. To be frank, I’ve created many pages with these concepts that flopped. I’m supposed to make a story out of these fictional institutions of an ongoing novel. As an author, I created the imaginary academic institution to satisfy one’s fictional endeavors of writing stories in the narrative of parody college life. The institution is a part of a fictional story to be set in the year 2085 along with multiple fictional organizations such as the Qu***********ls, Alto****s, and Solarists (No spoilers). The plot is set on a flexible storyline. The protagonist may change each chapter or arc, but it is still not yet done. I also have ongoing projects on other Facebook pages, building their fictional universe where there’s much to expect. I hope you all understand my stance as a writer, as I’m deeply passionate about my work.

ISCP - ROLEPLAY (ISCP E-YOUTH COUNCIL Facebook Group)

I created the Facebook group International State College of the Philippines (E-Youth Council) on August 2, 2022, after fulfilling its goal of 20,000 likes. It was meant to be a small community where everyone could roleplay as a professor, student, or even a school security guard. I think it is a fun concept, given that I laughed at their jokes too. I created a Facebook page for everyone to join the ISCP Community. It will act like a regular school-like group page where classmates and fellow Aspins can interact, post, and even voice their concerns on ISCP. Suddenly, the page was viral to the point where people began to show their creativity via the Facebook group. ISCP has now become a very random meme. Unfortunately, the Facebook group is volatile as it repeatedly violated the Community Standards. I think Facebook flagged it as suspicious activity as several contents are in violation without appeal, which is unfair.

ISCP (E-Youth Council) Discord

Due to popular demand, I also founded the ISCP - E-Youth Council on Discord. I was even clueless on how to operate a Discord Server. The first 3000 members entered over hours before I isolated the link. It was chaos and, of course, pretty confusing. But someone offered to help me build the server, and they managed to make it very well. I also created the General Management Committee, which will manage the server. Most of these people are volunteers, giving their time on the server to build it. I do not know the admins of the server personally, as I only met them on discord. They offered to become volunteers of the ISCP E-Youth Discord. I appreciate their efforts in making it. That’s why I insist that every centavo the server will earn will rightfully belong to the server and its admins. I am clueless about operating a server as I’m mainly focused on platforms such as Facebook. I’m delighted with the admins on how the server turned out. Of course, there are a lot of problems, but to be honest, the server was just new and founded by a guy who doesn’t even know how discord operates. I’ve given the ownership of the server to the server admins for them to work freely. I allow the admins to gather donations and provide services to the server as long as there is transparency on my part since it is the ISCP name. I enabled them to ask for donations as I understand how hard it is to manage a server. I want them to be rewarded for their efforts. I also insisted that the server administrators handle all the donations as it will be much more efficient to allocate server funds to those who need them within the server. I never touched a single centavo on the server funds.

ISCP SUPREME E-YOUTH GOVERNMENT

After I created the Discord Server, someone approached me to create a Facebook page for a student government body on ISCP. I was excited about the idea. Since the proposal was made by one of the discord server admins, I suggested that the ISCP Supreme E-Youth Government would become the official page for the discord server. It is an excellent concept since it will expand the ISCP universe as most real-life institutions. They function differently than the ISCP Main Facebook page.

There was this one instance where I allowed a streamer to become a temporary admin to live stream the Masterclass by Hon. Guanzon. The E-Youth Council, Supreme E-Youth Government Committee, and Discord Server cooperate to deliver that live stream. I thank you and appreciate all your efforts to make this live stream possible.

INTERNATIONAL STATE COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES - MAIN PAGE

Most people cannot believe that only one admin is responsible for creating ISCP. To be honest, I do not own or control other ISCP pages as they only emerged to ride the trend of ISCP. Many people have asked permission to create different pages, such as the ISCP Supreme E-Youth Government under the ISCP name, on the conditions that the page's purpose would adhere to the purpose of the main page. I want the main page to be separate from the other pages of ISCP as I’m still experimenting with ways to improve it.

OTHER ISCP PAGES, WHY SEPARATE ENTITIES? Aren’t you all just one ISCP?

To clarify, NO, all ISCP-affiliated pages/organizations are just affiliates. They came to me, and I allowed them to use the ISCP name for what I think will be a good idea. People believe that we are one organization, but this is not the case, the main page has only one admin, and that’s the ISCP Founder. I am not an admin of ISCP - Supreme E-Youth Government, ISCP - Secret Files, and other ISCP-related pages. The page I had complete solo control of was only the Main Page. I have narrative jurisdiction on Discord as the volunteer admins make most server decisions.

ISCP Founder-Made Content and Community-Made Contents

I recognize the ISCP Community-Made Content as one of the drivers of its success. I allowed the ISCP to become more inclusive to people with talents. I appreciate their skills and efforts in making content for the Facebook group, ISCP E-Youth Council. I appreciate all the members of the ISCP (E-Youth Council) members of the Facebook Community for your ideas. I also enjoy your ingenuity, humor, and comedic expressions of the concept of a fictional school. I like the high-quality content such as buildings, videos, and other out-of-this-world content.  I created the Facebook Group as so many talented individuals send messages on the page to post funny content. I want them to shine, and I want them to take credit for their work because, as a content creator, I think we should give credit to their rightful creator.

COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS

I’m talking to sponsors willing to collaborate with the Main Page, ISCP-SEYG, and the ISCP Discord (now named D’Paaralan). All the monetary rewards gained during sponsored collaborations with the Youth and Discord organizations are meant to benefit the E-Youth Council. If ISCP affiliate pages are involved, donors will donate all the donations and sponsorships generated to the council and not to the founder. It was allowed since it is a collaboration, and the committee's effort makes this possible. I am willing to collaborate with the E-Youth Council, given that the ISCP name will never be put in a bad light by these sponsorships. I do not ask for monetary incentives for sponsorships that are a fruit of collaborations between sister pages/organizations, as I believe it is much better to donate it to the community.

ISCP MERCHANDISE

The statement regarding the ISCP Merchandise was meant to be a warning to the unauthorized sellers of ISCP. I understand that almost everything you put on the internet would be in the public domain, but all I ask is to respect my work. I am very passionate about the ISCP, and seeing someone benefit from it for commercial and profit without asking is quite disrespectful. Given that I did not have the resources to sell items to compensate for our team's efforts, I was frustrated about the happenings. That’s why I released the statement that was supposed to be just an empty threat for them to stop selling. I know I should have handled this better, but I didn’t, so I have to face the consequences.

THE REAL APOLITICAL STANCE

As a writer, I know that EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL. Even the nature of the page is subtly political. To clarify, I’m always against bad governance, malicious misinformation, and incompetent leaders. The vision of the ISCP is that it is the best and most inclusive school in the universe and that we accept students from different backgrounds. I do not want any violence. ISCP was known for its lighthearted humor. It is quite as near as the Horatian Satire, which has a more light-hearted tone. The ISCP is not a taste of Juvenalian Satire, which evokes a much more aggressive approach. It’s light-hearted fun and intended to criticize without violent reactions.

I inherently believe that even if we have different political beliefs, we should have common ground. ISCP transcends it all, old or young, rich or poor, educated and well-mannered, binary or not. I believe that change starts on the common ground of understanding and not by arguing on the internet about who’s the beast president who will distribute 10k pieces of gold from the city of El Dorado. I want ISCP to become an instrument for better social and political change. If we look at history, violence is never an answer to our problems; it just makes us suffer.

I apologize to the people that are offended by my apolitical statement. There are always better ways to deal with these things, but I didn’t do it. I’ve hurt a lot of feelings which I’m responsible for it.

I am deeply sorry for my apolitical statement. It was insensitive to our current issues, which were wrong and ironic, given that I’m against malicious misinformation, incompetent leaders, and corruption. I did not realize it at first until I thought about it thoroughly. This was my first time reaching so many people, and I didn’t consider any feelings that might be offended by my thoughts. These made me change my thinking which is exactly what a healthy discourse should do. I will be more careful next time with what I say and think, but please give me time to adjust as this whole field is still new to me as I’m exploring unknown charters. Again, I apologize for the offense that I made. I hope as I grow older, I’ll be able to digest more complicated topics regarding the sociopolitical landscape; as of now, to be honest, I am still navigating things. So I hope everybody will understand and give me time to sort these things out in my mind. Thank you for criticizing and calling out as well; that’s what we do as ISCPanians.

MESSAGE FOR THE DISCORD ADMINS AND THE DISCORD SERVER

I am saddened that you are greatly affected by the issues from the ISCP Founder. It was great irresponsibility on my part that I let people use the case to destroy your reputation as the admins of the server. I didn’t know how to handle the technicalities of Discord when I made one. I trusted the volunteer admins and was permitted to manage the server. I appreciate your efforts, and I hope you enjoyed the reward I’ve given to the current admins.

Given the rapid growth of the ISCP (E-Youth Council), reaching the peak of 50,000 active discord members, many bad actors are involved. Most of these bad actors have malicious intent to sabotage the ISCP server in which we are all attacked on all sides. Rumors have spread that the ISCP server admins are incompetent. I see their efforts in maintaining the server— all their hardships and ideas for improving the server. The server administrators are trying their best to uphold the message of ISCP. We’re just trying to have a good time without discrimination and toxicity. The server is still in its infancy. It will not be perfect in its first few weeks. It started without bots, started from scratch, and everything was built from the ground up. It is incredible to think the exponential growth we experienced is so surreal. I appreciate your achievements in growing the server.

There will always be bad actors that want the ISCP server to fall to its knees. With the recent hacking, which affected 10k members. We went from 50k to less than 40k members. We are clearly under attack. This is a dilemma that we are facing at the moment. We have succumbed to what these bad actors want that the ISCP community will fall. This is what the bad actors wish for us to fall into chaos, distress, and panic. Our growth has stirred up jealousy and envy to the point where these bad actors destroy our reputations, what we’ve built, and everything.

We carry a message that no other organizations can reach. We can do such enormous feats that we started a movement in which the ISCP community has evolved to become more and more powerful. We are just teenagers. Some of us are even below 20 years old, but what will we achieve in the future when all organizational structures are placed? We just need time as the committee was only in existence for less than a month.

We have been framed, shamed, and even destroyed our reputations by these bad actors who don’t know what’s happening in the background. We are doing our best to manage under the ISCP message. I’ve received reports that some admins left because these bad actors have destroyed their reputations to the point where it also affected our mental health. I even received a report about a server admin crying for false allegations. We crave change, yearn for justice, and desire to improve our world. We just needed time and understanding and a little help. We do not know whom to trust because, one way or another, we fear being sabotaged again. Sadly, these bad actors have ulterior motives to terminate what we’ve built.

I love the ideas that the server admins have proposed and made, which have a practical use. We used to have mental health tickets where members could voice their problems anonymously. It functions like a suicide hotline where people can talk about their issues privately to have a safe space to communicate their feelings. We are planning to build a foundation where we can help fellow advocates to voice their concerns on animal rights, the environment, and other social issues. But even the concept of the foundation was attacked by these bad actors as if it was sketchy — invalidating our efforts, our advocacies, and the ISCP movement. We have good and pure intentions to become a part of a social change. We’ve been in existence for less than a month. We are imperfect in many ways, yet we strive to uphold what we think is good for the community. We just need time to arrange ourselves to become better leaders.

I am saddened by the departure of ISCP Discord, now named D’Paaralan. We all parted ways on good terms. All the plans have been canceled, and now the server has been stripped of its original vision. It’s been an excellent month for all of the admins. We’ve become a part of the history of the Philippines as well as we did our best in these times. I hope as we part ways, we’ve learned our lessons from these events, and I hope we’re still on good terms in the future. Thank you for everything, Discord admins. I appreciate everything you all did for the community and to our dear alma mother, ISCP.

ISCP ADVOCACY

Many legitimate institutions have contacted ISCP to promote their advocacies, such as Lymphoma Awareness, HIV Awareness, and Animal Shelters. We are very open to promoting these advocacies as we believe we have a robust platform to encourage these kinds of advocacy. I understand that ISCP has a greater reach in these times due to its unique concept. Maybe in the future, together with groups, we would convert the ISCP Main Page as one of their marketing tools to voice their advocacies. I can say that we are pretty much doing great marketing stuff on the internet. I think I would put my talents to best use if I market these advocacies to raise awareness for these legitimate institutions.

Together with the ISCP Committee, we planned a Nationwide Environmental Campaign where we encourage a nationwide movement for the environment. Activities include tree planting, mangrove planting, forestation, coastal clean-up, clean-up drives, and environmental awareness. We will do this by cooperating with all youth organizations in the Philippines and organizations that care for the environment. Since the recent warning for the deadline on our Carbon Emissions, this campaign would significantly reduce the ill effects of climate change and environmental destruction. This will also inspire other countries to join the trend of preserving the environment. We just need the spark to ignite one of the most influential movements in the Philippines. We, the Filipino Youth, will do this ambitious project nationwide in just one day. And, of course, the ISCP Committee needs help.

FUTURE PLANS FOR ISCP

ISCP, when it started, was never meant to become a meme. It is self-evident when most of the community-made contents are rehashed old memes with their respective courses. This is just a start as this is just the enrollment era. More content will come as I invest in equipment and other content creation paraphernalia. I’m open to the ISCP collaboration of different brands and content creators to expand the ISCP to the point where it would be recognized internationally. ISCP is still in its infancy, yet I am not bothered by people who want to abort it. My vision is clear and well understood.

What is the future of ISCP? You all would never know, but since there’s a popular demand to legitimize the International State College of the Philippines, maybe in the future. I’m still assessing my options at the moment. I like surprising a lot of people when it comes to my creation. What would the future content be if I created the ‘legitimate’ academic institution in the universe? Who knows, we’re just getting into the most exciting part.

Meanwhile, let’s watch how things will unfold.

MY INTENTIONS

As a writer, student-entrepreneur, and content creator, I want to positively take advantage of the ISCP as there are a lot of opportunities for me as a creator. This is also why I revealed myself to the public. In real life, I was pretty shy for an 18-year-old, and I would sometimes withdraw myself from social interactions because it would stress me so much. It is the first time my work has reached so many people that it has become popular. I did not expect this kind of growth. I’ve managed many Facebook pages with similar concepts to ISCP, but they failed. This is my first-breaking success in fooling/pranking everybody. I even pranked Kuya Kim Atienza hehehehehe. My intentions why I created ISCP were just to have fun and maybe secure my college education. But it became much more significant than that for which I was not prepared.

I’m a person of privacy. I don’t want fame nor want to become famous, it is the least of my priorities. My intention why I came out as a creator of ISCP is to gather as many opportunities as I can in terms of my career as a writer, marketer, and future engineer. I want to secure a future by choosing the world's most significant opportunities, and I’m ready to receive them. I understand that life is hard. I’m doing everything I can to make myself more secure and be a better citizen.

I’ve received a lot of hate for owning ISCP, in which I genuinely hold the name International State College of the Philippines. I do not own the concept of a fictional institution, as I cannot monopolize the idea behind the International State College of the Philippines. I want to enforce a community where mutual respect is encouraged among followers, and my vision is the best university in the universe above the chaos.

I also want to clarify the donations on my personal Facebook page. It was intended to support the author as the writer. I didn’t have Patreon, Ko-fi, or the like at that time since I was still kick-starting my writing career. I’m asking for support from the fans of my work, as I want to expand the ISCP concept and grow the universe. These donations would allow me to create additional content to entertain many people, removing their stress from their day-to-day activities. Funding is challenging for a writer, especially when starting a story from scratch. I started writing when I was 14. I love my work. All donors on my Facebook page recognize that their donations are going to the author, which helps me continue my passion as a writer. Thank you for the donors, as I will use them to improve my skills and talents for me to deliver you high-quality content. I plan to continue my studies as I manage my Facebook pages and businesses. I think it would be hard to manage and balance such endeavors, but since I’m still a first-year college student, I think I could work this out.

Misinformation about me is still standing rampant online. I am just a writer who envisioned the International State College of the Philippines and brought it to life. I appreciate that the community made it even more popular, creating fan art and other artistic works. I’m even glad that people offered to volunteer and create sister pages/organizations of the ISCP, in which I let them use the ISCP. I never envisioned it to become this popular; perhaps I meant it just to reach a small number of viewers as I’m still experimenting with my writing skills in universe-building. I know I am not perfect. I have made mistakes along the way, acknowledged and apologized, and I have a lot to learn. Again, I am thankful for the people who listened to me and tried to understand what was happening.

Thank you for your unwavering support despite the issues. I appreciate the support I receive and will continue to be inspired by your actions. I’m pretty humbled that some people still understand my situation and my intentions as a writer. Thank you for reading this supposed book draft about my experiences. I enjoy writing. It lets me think clearly, which is a great exercise. I thank every supporter for their support. I appreciate everything, all those praises, and criticisms that I received. Thank you to those who supported me, especially those who reached out to me personally. Thank you for reading.
