  1. Girls B Basketball tryouts #2 happening on Wednesday, Oct 18 - 5:30-7:00pm at WVH. This tryout is open to all girls from grades 10-12 even if you did not attend Sr. A tryouts.
  2. Students are not to enter the gym before the teacher on duty does before Lunch Rec starts.
  3. Students are not to enter the equipment room during LunchTime Rec. The gym was shut down yesterday early because of this. If it happens again, lunchtime Rec will be cancelled for a week.

Friday, Oct 13

  1. MUST WIN! The boys rugby team take on Holy Heart at 430pm in cross over action at the Swilers Rugby Complex. This is a must win for the boys to advance to the championship game. Get out and cheer on your fellow warriors on this fine Friday October 13. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WARRIORS!

  3. Congratulations to the Girls Rugby team on beating Gonzaga 55-0 yesterday evening. The girls placed first in their league and now play fourth place Gonzaga on Tuesday at 5pm at Swilers. Let’s go girls!

Find out more about this interesting field of work TODAY  in Mr. Vinnedge’s Room,  Room 314, during lunch time to hear more about this field of engineering in our first “Lunch & Learn” session for this year.  Bring your lunch and hear from a geomatic engineer about what they do.

9. Plans are now underway for an exciting trip to Europe during the 2019 Easter break.

Students participating in the ‘Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Budapest and Vienna’ grand adventure will spend 12 days visiting Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. You heard it right, that’s six awesome counties in 12 days!

Highlights of this trip include guided tours and free time in the beautiful Eastern Europe cities of Berlin, Prague, Dresden, Krakow, Budapest and Vienna.

Just a few of the sights students will explore include the Berlin Wall, The Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie, St Vitus Cathedral, the John Lennon Wall, the Jewish Quarter and Schindler’s Factory in Krakow. In Budapest we will see the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Parliament Buildings as well as a spending an afternoon swimming in the famous thermal baths. We will also have a guided tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau; famous German concentration camps from WW2. Finally, we will zip over to Vienna to see Ringstrasse, Neues Rathaus and Hofburg Palace!

Friday, Sept 29

  1. There are 28 million cancer survivors worldwide. Today we will be participating in our Terry Fox walk, celebrating these survivors with Terry’s brother Fred Fox! Please make a donation and help us fight for a cancer free future, every cent counts!
  2. All week the spirit team has been collecting for the Terry Fox foundation. We will be collecting again today at recess and lunch. Today Fred Fox; Terry's brother will be here at Waterford valley to collect our donation. A big thank you to Katherine Dibbon for organizing this whole week.
  3. There will be a spirit team meeting today FRIDAY at the start of lunch in room 321 that’s Mr. Moore’s room. All reps are asked to attend please.
  4. Big thank you to all the students who helped out last night with the Curriculum night, you were great ambassadors of our school.

  1. Girls Volleyball Tryouts will be on Thursday, Sept 28 at 3:30-5:00pm. All girls interested in trying out for Volleyball please attend these tryouts as there is currently no coach for a B team.

  3. During our last class 21 Canadians were diagnosed with cancer and nine died from the disease. YOU can help us in the fight for a cancer free world. Please donate and participate in our Terry Fox walk this Friday Sept. 29th.

  6. Saturday, September 30, 2017 the Army Reserves are having an Open House from 9 to 4 p.m in the armouries next to Quidi Vidi Lake. This Open House provides an opportunity for all students to get to know the Army Reserves and gain a better understanding of our role in the community and the part-time employment opportunities available.  This is also a great opportunity to meet our soldiers, see our equipment, and gain first-hand experience of Army training.

  1. Any student who would like to participate in an Emergency First Aid course please see Mr. Smith.

  1. The countdown is on… 182 days until our school departs on a trip to Paris, Germany, the Swiss Alps, and many more beautiful places in Europe. There are still places open if a student would like to attend this trip, please see Mr. Smith ASAP for more information because the deadline to register is fast approaching.

  1. This Friday (September 29th) Waterford Valley will host our second annual Terry Fox run! Special guest Fred Fox - Terry’s brother all the way from British Columbia will be joining us! Please bring in a loonie or toonie to support cancer research, our goal is $1000. Students will be collecting before class, recess and lunch all week.

  1. Anyone who applied for a rep position must meet in mr King's room at the (very, you better be there or else) start at of lunch :)

  3. Any boy interested in playing on a Boys Basketball team this year at Waterford Valley, please attend the tryouts on Saturday 10am - 12pm, Monday, Sept 25 at 7pm-8:30pm and Wed, Sept 27 at 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

  5. Girls Volleyball Tryouts will be taking place on Monday, Sept 25 and Thursday, Sept 28 both at 3:30pm. All girls interested in playing Volleyball please come to these tryouts.
  6. The last Boys Softball Tryout will be taking place on Friday, Sept 22 at 3:15pm at Waterford Valley Field. The tournament starts on Monday, Sept 25.
  7. Any boy interested in playing on a Boys Basketball team this year at Waterford Valley, please attend the tryouts on Saturday 10am - 12pm, Monday, Sept 25 at 7pm-8:30pm and Wed, Sept 27 at 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
  8. Any student interested in running in the X-Country Regionals Race on Oct 14 in Carbonear, please go see Ms. Gibbons
  9. Boys Soccer team members: please go see Ms. Gibbons in the Cafeteria at 12:40pm to sign out your team uniforms.
  10. There will be a Sr. Boys Volleyball Tryout today at WVH at 6:30pm. See Liam Northcott for information.
  11. There is a Girls Softball game today at Wyatt park starting at 4:30 pm.  The girls are playing Holy Trinity and all spectators are invited to come and cheer the team on.  

Wednesday, September 20

  2. Anyone interested in joining an Improv team there will be a meeting in the drama room on Thursday, Sept 21, first half of lunch. Hoping to get a group to attend the Improv Games this year.
  3. FULL concert band tomorrow 8am. Bring your instruments and be ready to play by 8am. If you need an instrument, Evoy will hook you up tomorrow.
  4. Anyone interested in being involved with Yearbook Committee should meet with Mr. Vinnedge on Thursday, Sept. 21, during the first half of lunch. The meeting will be held in room 314.  
  5. Social Justice group will meet at the start of lunch in Ms. Anthony’s room (206) at the start of lunch.  We hope to see lots of new members!

  3. WVH Newspaper Club meets today in Computer Lab 215. See Kailey Ikkusek-Rogers if you have any questions. Needed: writers, web page designers, graphic artists, and more!
  4. Anyone interested in drama club meet in the drama room at lunch today with Mr. Rideout. Going over a potential school year plan.
  5. The Games Room is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Room 305 during the second half of lunch. We have lots of Wii and XBox games, board games, cards, etc. Come along and bring a friend.
