‘Preparing each child for their future in an ever-changing world’
CARE - COURAGE - RESPECT - RESPONSIBILITY
25th September 2017
The governors would like to thank those of you who completed our questionnaire earlier this year. In total we received 49 responses. The purpose of our parent questionnaires is to identify areas for improvement within the school.
From our 2016 questionnaire, we identified homework as an area for improvement. We asked parents whether they thought homework was set at an appropriate level, in an appropriate amount, for the age of their child and a significant proportion of parents responded that it was not. In 2017 we are pleased to report that nearly all respondents agreed that homework is now set at an appropriate level/amount. The governors would like to thank staff for addressing this issue over the past year.
Another area for improvement (identified from the comments box in last year’s survey) was the availability of sports clubs after school and the variation of sports offered during school hours. The results from our 2017 survey again show that this has been addressed.
Unlike last year, there are no obvious themes for improvement identified from the 2017 questionnaire as all questions were answered ‘positive’ by the majority of respondents. However, a few parents commented that they were not satisfied with the updates they receive on their child’s progress. This is an area that will be discussed by our Performance and Standards sub-committee and these governors will assess the way in which pupils’ progress is communicated with parents, with a focus on putting progress reports into context for parents.
In addition, a quarter of respondents did not agree that they knew who the governors were and what role they played. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to direct you to the Governor section of the school website. This information can be found under ‘Our School’ and then ‘Our Team’ or click the link here. If any of you have any further questions we welcome you to contact any of the school governors (listed in this link) via the school office at any time and we will make contact with you directly or please use the governor email which is checked regularly email@example.com. If you need quick response then we recommend contacting the school office.
A number of parents also commented that they would like to see more events held by the PTA. The governors strongly encourage you to join our friendly PTA in order to drive such events. There was a very successful ‘Treasure Hunt’ held at the weekend we hope you were able to attend and take part in this event.
Finally, we would like to thank the many parents who wrote such positive comments with regards to the ethos and values within our school. In the open comments section, an overwhelming majority of you stated that you valued the strong community spirit within the school and the high standards of behaviour and safety. This is something that we should all be proud of.
