Options, Fees & Policies for All Programs

1. PAYMENT OPTION

FACTS Tuition Management is our online payment program. Transactions incurred at the school, including Tuition and Incidental charges (pizza day, event tickets, etc.), will be paid through FACTS.  The FACTS account is created through Online Enrollment. You will have the option for automatic withdrawal payments from a bank account (no fee) or charges to your credit card (2.85% fee).  Families can easily view and manage their tuition payments and incidental charges at any time through FACTS.

An automatic payment method is required to remain on file, though other payment arrangements can be made before the payment due date in order to avoid the payment method on file from being billed automatically. Please contact us at billing@mcsslc.com if alternate payment arrangements are needed. If the alternate payments are not made by the payment due date, the automatic payment method on file will be billed.

2. SCHEDULE CHANGES

  1. Summer Schedule will be the same as the student’s Academic Year Schedule.
  2. Staff is established by March 1 based on registration/enrollment in Summer Camp. Changes after that date might require staffing changes that we may not be able to accommodate.

3. WITHDRAWAL POLICY

All withdrawals must be submitted to the Director of Admissions in writing. If you withdraw your child from Summer Camp:

  1. Between January 15 and March 1, you will be responsible for 50% of the Summer Camp tuition.
  2. After March 1, you will be responsible for 75% of the Summer Camp tuition.
  3. After June 1, you will be responsible for 100% of the Summer Camp tuition.

4. MISSED OR SICK DAYS

The Montessori classroom is prepared to accommodate your child and his/her space is reserved. We cannot credit days or money for missed days due to vacations, illnesses, or quarantine requirements.

5. EMERGENCY MORNING CARE AND AFTERNOON CARE

If your child is not already enrolled in the AM Extended Day and/or PM Extended Day Program, and you have an emergency arise where an early drop-off or late pick-up is required, you may sign your student up for a set fee. This option is dependent on a space being available.

6. LATE PICK-UP FEES

If students are not picked up at their usual pick-up time they will be brought to the office and a late pick-up fee will be charged.

7. IMMUNIZATION POLICY

Up-to-date documentation of a child’s immunization status must be on file for each child by the child's first day of attendance at the school. A child will not be permitted to start school until we receive the appropriate documentation.

Toddler and Early Childhood Student Requirements

A child attending our Toddler and Early Childhood programs is required to be immunized appropriately for age. This means a child has received all of the doses of each vaccine appropriate for the child's age according to current immunization schedules. Proof of immunity to disease(s) can be accepted in place of vaccination only if a document from a healthcare provider stating the student previously contracted the disease is presented to the school.

Exemptions in the Toddler and Early Childhood Programs

We accept only medical exemptions for Toddler and 1st thru 2nd level Early Childhood aged students. Documentation of an exemption must be provided to the school upon enrollment.

Kindergarten and Elementary Student Requirements

An up-to-date immunization record or an exemption form must be on file for each K-6th grade student by the child's first day of attendance at the school. Proof of immunity to disease(s) can be accepted in place of vaccination only if a document from a healthcare provider stating the student previously contracted the disease is presented to the school.

Exemptions for K- 6th Grade Students

A K-6th grade student is exempt from the requirement to receive a vaccine if the student qualifies for a medical, religious or personal exemption. Documentation of an exemption must be provided to the school upon enrollment. Your child will not be permitted to attend school until we receive the appropriate documentation.

Medical Exemptions

A student qualifies for a medical exemption from a vaccination if the student's legally responsible individual provides to the school:

  1. a completed vaccination exemption form; and
  2. a written notice signed by a licensed health care provider stating that, due to the physical condition of the student, administration of the vaccine would endanger the student's life or health.
Religious and Personal Exemptions

A local health department representative must witness and sign the Religious and Personal Exemption Forms. To receive a vaccination exemption form, the legally responsible individual who claims an exemption for the student must complete the online immunization education module from the Utah Department of Health. If the legally responsible individual who claims an exemption for the student declines to take the online education module, he/she can obtain a vaccination exemption form from a local health department and receive an in-person consultation.

Communicable Disease

Any child who is suspected of having a communicable disease is taken to the office immediately and must be kept at home until they are no longer contagious. The School Director or office staff will discharge the child to the care of his/her parent/guardians or to the person who has been designated by the parent/guardian to pick up the child.

When a child is suspected of having chickenpox, German measles, infectious hepatitis, measles, mumps, poliomyelitis, scarlet fever, whooping cough, diphtheria, meningitis or another reportable communicable disease, the local public health officer will be notified. Contact your physician regarding symptoms of these communicable diseases. A child may be re-admitted without a statement from a physician after having had a communicable disease only if the child has been absent for a period of time equal to the longest usual incubation period of the disease as specified by the Utah Department of Health.

11. NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

Montessori Community School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, ethnicity, national origin, disability, orientation or any other protected category in any of its activities, operations, admission policies, tuition assistance or any other program.

*Montessori Community School  will revise and update this Policy if practices and policies change, as technology changes, as health and safety information changes, or as new services are added or existing services are changed. If the school makes any material changes to this Policy, the changes will be updated at: https://mcsslc.com/enroll/tuition-forms along with a change of date.

SUMMER CAMP DESCRIPTION

The Montessori Community School's Summer Camp is a multi-week program that focuses on a different area of the world. For Summer 2022, the dates for Camp are June 14 through August 12. Russia will be the country we are focusing on.  Students spend time learning about various aspects of the country, such as the geography, food, music, art, cultural celebrations, language, botany and zoology.

Each summer, in order to provide our students with a new “adventure,” the typical Montessori materials are exchanged for crafts, art projects, and various other activities that reinforce the country of study. While we see some familiar materials, to support students in transition, we also see a variety of new work. This allows an in-depth and concrete understanding of the culture of study while also leaving the Montessori academics for the academic school year, when we have trained Montessori teachers in every classroom.

Our summer camp staff is usually made up of extended day, substitute and other support teachers who work with us year-round, with our certified Montessori teachers working through all or a portion of the summer. Additionally, we may welcome a handful of new summer camp teachers who are trained by our MCS Administration and current staff.

While the materials look different during the summer program, our philosophy remains the same; an emphasis on conflict resolution, supporting the development of independence, and making the process of learning fun and explorative.

Toddler students who are eligible for Early Childhood and showing readiness for that environment will be in a Transition classroom with a Toddler teacher and an Early Childhood teacher. Our Third Year Early Childhood students transition to Elementary at the beginning of the summer and they are very excited and ready to embark on all of the more advanced activities that are offered in the Summer Elementary class.

For all of our Early Childhood and Elementary students our Summer Camp is exciting and different from the academic year. For Toddlers, we understand how important a sense of order is for them and consequently keep their program as close as possible to what they are accustomed to.

Please keep in mind that while transition is very exciting and our camp is a lot of fun, summer is a different routine.  We recommend families be prepared for all of the normal outcomes of change in routine. Our teachers and camp director make a great effort to keep parents informed and share photos of their child’s experience.  We encourage parents to join teachers in building healthy, communicative relationships in order to support our students so they can have a successful and enjoyable summer.
