Gathering Song: Katy Lloyd

Welcome

Call to Worship (altered from Chalice Worship)

One: As on the first day

Many: You began the work of creating us.

One: As on the first day

Many: You raised your Son from the dead

One: So on this first day, Creating God,

Many: Remake us

One: And on this first day, Liberating God,

Many: Raise us to the work of living your love.

One: On this first day and through this new week,

Many: Let our lives begin again

One: On this first day as we gather, meet us in words, song, a shared meal, and community so that

Many: On this first day, yet again, we might find you, and in finding you find ourselves, eachother, and the whole family of Creation

One: On this first day, let us worship God together.

Many: Amen.

Prayer

Scripture:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-14

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden The Eternal One has laid on the human race. The Eternal One has made everything beautiful in its time. The Eternal One has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what Our Creator has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything The Eternal One does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. The Eternal One does it so that people will fear him.

Message: A Time For Everything Part 1: A time for every single feeling you’ve felt the last two years.

Prayers of the People

One: In your loving name

Many: Hear our prayer

Lord’s Prayer, Parker Palmer Version

Heavenly Father, heavenly Mother, Sacred Parent beyond gender

Holy and blessed is your true name.

We pray for your reign of peace to come,

We pray that your good will be done,

Let heaven and earth become one.

Give us this day the bread we need,

Give it to those who have none.

Let forgiveness flow like a river between us,

From each one to each one.

Lead us to holy innocence

Beyond the evil of our days —

Come swiftly Mother, Father, Creator, come.

For yours is the power and the glory and the mercy:

Forever your name is All in One.

Passing of the Peace

Communion:

Liturgy:

One: God is with you.

Many: And also with you.

One: Lift up your hearts.

Many: We lift them up to God.

One: Let us give thanks to God.

Many: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

Meditation: Marsha Wilson

        Words of Institution, Communally led

One: Almighty and loving God, You have created and redeemed us,

And through the presence of your Spirit, you sustain daily life in us.

Many: Now let this same Spirit descend upon these gifts

That in the breaking of brad and the sharing if this cup

We may know the living presence of Jesus

Who gave himself for all.

One: May your Spirit fill us with a longing for a deeper unity

In Christ’s body, the church, here in this room, amongst those of us scattered by summer’s adventurous call, and in the church universal.

May your Spirit fill us with a commitment to crescendoing works of love and liberation, in Christ’s name, in the world.

Many: Give us unshakable hope

In your loving and just kin-dom that is to come.

Let this meal nourish our bodies and our hearts

To live that love and justice in Christ’s name.

Amen.

(Pause)

One: On a somber night, Christ shared a meal with his dear ones.

Many: He took bread, blessed it, and gave thanks.

One: He shared it with everyone, saying:

Many: Take. Eat. This is my body shared with you and many.

One: After supper, Christ took the cup.

Many: He blessed it and gave thanks.

One: He shared it with everyone, saying:

Many: Take. Drink. This is my blood of the new covenant shared with you and many.

One: Christ asked us to do these simple acts in remembrance of him whenever we gather.

Many: Come and receive. All are welcome.

Communion Hymn: The Steadfast Love of the Lord Never Ceases

Closing Communion Liturgy

One: We give thanks for these holy mysteries.

Many: Your glory has filled our hearts.

One: You have given yourself to us, God.

Many: Now we give ourselves to you and to all.

Benediction:

Go now, make peace with God in the secrecy of your heart, that you might make peace with your neighbor and the whole family of Creation in the service of God’s kin-dom

Closing Song: Love’s In the Need of Love
