- Updates
- Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs
- Senate/Assembly conversation from last week
- I appreciated the input from you all on our conversation on the future of ASBSU, and hope we will be able to continue that conversation soon.
- I’ll probably find time to follow up with each of you individually this week. If you’re around, it’d be nice to talk in the office as I’m trying to be around more!
- City of Boise Outreach Office Meeting
- Met with Tiffany Brugge-McCree who wanted to find ways for the City to collaborate with ASBSU.
- We discussed some ideas and she and her colleagues will work on brainstorming some ways to collaborate. I thought coming into Joint for 10-30 minutes in a month or so would be great. They want to ask students about affordable housing and zoning, and possibly some sustainability initiatives.
- Golden Apples
- Wanting some feedback - how do you all feel about an in-person event?
- For GA’s I’ll need some help, especially if it will be an in-person event. It could be great to have even a small in-person ceremony at the end of the semester, but I don’t want to rope you all in if you have worries!
- Suscomm
- Bill coming this week to help with the Sustainability Center’s Call for Innovative Creators
- Have been working along with Chey and the Committee to come up with some new projects and am looking forward to sharing those with you all soon!
- Work will continue with Policy 4300, Student Evaluations.
- Thinking of having some time in Joint to talk about how student evaluations are perceived and getting some feedback, but I’ll probably wait until there’s an idea on the table first. More to come.
- OER
- Working with the library to research OER (Open Educational Resources) and other ways to minimize costs to students as part of the University’s Affordable Materials Task Force.
- Full disclosure: I will be working and getting paid by the library for this work, but will not be double-logging hours for ASBSU for this time. There will be some overlap in my work, as I want to come into Exec/Joint with updates (and possibly to get feedback), but I’ll be transparent about which hat I’m wearing.
- Academic Advising
- Meeting with Susan Shadle, VP of Undergraduate Affairs, next week to try and learn more about how Academic Advising works at BSU. It’s pretty complicated and I’ve been trying to capture a more complete picture of how it works. Hoping to also bring this as an update to Joint/Exec.

- Comm’s team is piloting a new committee alternative/complementary system to engage assembly/senate. Details in flux but essentially entails comm’s committee members taking more specific titles and roles.
- Website redesign is slow, but started. Working with Priscilla Grover for photos.
- Aidan McConnehey will take my spot on the elections committee. Aidan was the only member present at the committee meeting that was not already on the elections committee, thus chosen by default.
