Admissions Policy This policy is applicable to all pupils in the School
Introduction Cheadle Hulme School is a co-educational school and welcomes children aged between 3 and 18. In line with our core values and traditions, we welcome children from diverse ethnic groups, backgrounds and creeds. Information about the admissions process will be made available on the School website and via the School. Those processes will be followed to admit children according to the relevant criteria in force at the time and according to the number of places available. The School’s admissions processes will be designed to ensure a fair admissions procedure for all applicants. When admitting pupils, the School will comply with anti-discrimination legislation, any requirements associated with its charitable status and any other statutory guidance. All candidates for admission will be treated equally, irrespective of their, or their parents’ race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, sexual orientation, property, birth or other status. The School does not give priority entry to siblings. The School has limited facilities for pupils with disabilities and special educational needs but will do all that is reasonable to comply with its legal and moral responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the Children and Families Act 2014 to accommodate the needs of applicants who have disabilities for which, with reasonable adjustments, the School can cater adequately. To identify eligible applicants, the School will:
Prior to admitting any pupil, the School will expect that:
Overseas Pupils The School is not a licensed sponsor under the UK government’s Child Student visa (formerly Tier 4) scheme and consequently cannot issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to support a visa application. However, the School will consider applications from pupils normally living overseas. For any such applicants, the School will, in addition to the requirements set out above, require prior to any offer or a place:
Refugees and Asylum Seekers: In the case of refugees and asylum seekers, the School will:
The School’s decision about whether or not any applicant will be offered a place will be final and there is no right of appeal or recourse to the school’s Complaints Policy. All offers will be made in writing. The School undertakes to inform parents of children who are not offered a place at the School, and reserves the right not to discuss the child’s performance. The School will normally expect pupils to be admitted to the School at the start of an academic year. Any applicants who wish to be considered for entry at other points in the year will still be required to meet the relevant criteria and undertake any assessments required by the School. Offers of places will always be subject to the availability of places. Children who are admitted to the Infant Department will normally transfer automatically to Year 3. Transfer from the Junior School to the Senior School is automatic subject to satisfactory performance in end-of-year assessments. The School has a means-tested financial assistance scheme and is able to consider bursary support upon application, and where the relevant criteria are met.  Funds are, however,  limited and are only available for Senior School applicants.  Details of the Admissions process for each section of the School can be found in the Admissions Procedures and are available on the School website here or from the Admissions department via admissions@chschool.co.uk or 0161 488 3345.
