USING THE WINE RACK’S AUTO LABEL
NOTE: As of Nov 2022, only the Wine Rack and the Cornbeef ager are for sale at VMD. The other racks have been discontinued.
Current Version: This document covers several items so please check the VMD Store (SURL below) or the redelivery website (use the Redelivery HUD in your main Modular Sorter folder or access the terminal at the main store) to get the most current version of your product.
NOTE! Many times the manuals are updated a few days before the main item is released. Therefore, some functions might be listed in this manual that are not yet implemented.
A few Digital Farming System (DFS) and some Weeds items need to be rezed in-world to get the most out of them, such as aging your wine or curing your corned beef or turning your Weeds seedlings into weedlings. Other items just look really cool in your home. To meet these needs, VM Designs has a nice selection of display racks to meet your needs! Here is a list of just some of them.
Because these items work basically the same, this single manual will cover all display items and we’ll indicate anything unique to a specific item where appropriate.
** CAUTION!! Do not load DFS lunchbox type items near your display racks or shelves… The displayed items are rezed in-world and the lunchbox can find them and load them, which might not be what you intended. **
Unpack the box like normal and you’ll get a folder in your inventory. Then follow these setup steps.
Step 1 - Rez the display item and position it where you wish (it’s copy in case you wish to have several of them).
Step 2 - Click the display item to get the menu and check out the various buttons. Some display items have a Color button allowing you to change the color of the item to match your decor. We’ll cover the other buttons below.
NOTE: As stated in Step 2 above, not all items have a color option.
That’s really all there is to the setup. Simple huh?
NOTE: Display shelves are designed to display items in their default size. If you resize your items, they may not display properly and may need some position editing to look nice while displayed. Also do not resize the actual display shelves as they are designed to work as is. Any changes will cause the items to rez incorrectly.
Using these items is very easy. Simply CTRL+Drag your object(s) to the display. Another option is to Edit the display and open the contents tab and then move your items into the contents. Once all your items are in the display, click the display to bring up the menu and select Rez to have your items properly displayed.
NOTE: The items will be rezed in the order that they are loaded into the display. If order matters for what you are rezing, add them one at a time, giving a couple of seconds between loading items to allow the display time to register each item.
Also, clicking the display to bring up the menu shows additional information in the popup box:
As DFS or Weeds release new items VMD updates the database for your display shelves. To get this new data into your shelves, click the shelf to bring up the menu and then use the Reload button.
NOTE: Buttons or processes that are unique to only one display are covered individually below. Also, not all display items will have these options.
Rez = Rezes your item(s) to display them.
Zero Count = The display keeps track of the last item displayed in order to rez a new item in the next position. Clicking Zero Count zeros out this value resetting the count back to the first position for that type of display shelf (normally slot 1, but for the Stuffie display it’s slot 5). CAUTION: The display has no way to tell if an item is rezed in a position so if you reset the count to zero and have items on the rack, the next item could occupy the same position as an existing item. If this happens, just pick up both items, put them back into the display, and rez them again so they will display in the appropriate position.
Manual = Allows you to manually select a position to rez an item. Basically, this bypasses the automatic position tracker so you can rez the item in any position you wish. CAUTION: The display has no way to tell if an item is rezed in a position so if you reset the count to zero and have items on the rack, the next item could occupy the same position as an existing item. If this happens, just pick up both items, put them back into the display, and rez them again so they will display in the appropriate position.
Pick Man = Does the same as manual, except it allows you to just enter the number instead of selecting it.
List = Displays a list of items waiting to be rezed in the order that they will be rezed.
Return = Returns any items inside the display (meaning not rezed) back to you.
Refresh = Causes the display to refresh the contents. This is handy if you Edit the display to remove or add items and for some reason the display doesn’t recognize you’ve removed or added new items.
Done = Closes the menu. It’s always better to use the Done button instead of licking Ignore.
Reset = Resets the scripts in the display. This will also force the display to check the database and update the resizing data if needed.
Skip = Allows you to skip the next item to be rezed and move it to the bottom of the rez list. This is handy if you loaded several different items into the display shelf without regard to the order and then you decide to change how items are rezed.
Reload = Checks the database on the website and updates the rez items and positions stored in the display. Note, this replaces the data notecard so there’s no need to obtain a notecard for your display.
Transfer* = This will display a popup allowing you to enter the UUID of an item allowing you to transfer the contents of the display to that item. NOTE: Not all Display items have this option.
UUID* = Prints the UUID of the display into local chat so you can copy and paste it into another VM Design’s item (such as a Box Up box from the sorter) to quickly transfer items into the display. Note, not all Display items have this option.
Access* = Some displays have an access menu allowing you to set the display to private, group, etc. NOTE: If you have an Admin assigned through the server on any of your VMD items, that person is an Admin on all of your items that allow admin access. There’s no need to individually set an Admin on each of your items. Note, not all Display items have this option.
Colors* = Takes you to the menu to select color options. Note, not all Display items have this option.
* = Not all displays have the options marked with the asterisk (*).
The Wine Rack rezes the following items
The Wine Display rezes the following items
Wine Display (Black Shelves)
There are a few things of note when using the Wine Displays.
NOTE: The Wine Display will only display Merlot and Moscato wines and the Champagne that age. The Wine Rack is used for the Merlot and Moscato wines that age and that can be labeled and also the VDay items that age. Use the Booze Cabinet for everything else.
This section applies ONLY to the Wine Rack
NOTE: Due to some bugs with sl, the labeling feature may fail to work. If it does, a sim restart may fix it and have it working again.
Anytime you open the popup menu on the Wine Rack, pay close attention to the text displayed on the popup menu. You’ll be able to see:
If you wish to have the Wine Rack automatically put your custom label on the wine bottles, follow these steps.
NOTE: The Labeling system may fail if you encounter a SL bug. If this happens, pick up the wine you just rezed out, restart the sim, and then try again, make sure you set the slots according to the wine you still have rezed out (detailed above).
Step 1 - If you already have the bottles you wish to label on the Wine Rack, pick them up and then CTRL+Drag them back to the Wine Rack but do not rez them. The Wine Rack attaches the label as it rezes the bottles and can’t add a label to a bottle already rezed.
Step 2 - Add your custom texture(s) to the Wine Rack (either CTRL+DRAG or edit to open the contents).
Step 3 - Click the Wine Rack to bring up the menu and then go to Pick Label. You’ll get a popup with a list of all the textures you have loaded into the Wine Rack. Select the one you desire to use based on the bottles currently in the Wine Rack.
NOTE: After you make your selection, you’ll be taken back to the main menu. Check the text at the top of the menu. It may say:
Verify it’s the label you want!
Step 4 - If the labeling mode is deactivated, click Label On to turn on labeling and the text mentioned above in the note should now say “Labeling Mode Activated.” If the labeling mode is already activated, skip to Step 5.
Step 5 - Click Rez to rez the wine bottles. As the bottles are rezed, your label will be applied. However, the bottle labels are not finalized. If you wish to finalize the labels, click the individual bottles and select Finalize.
The remaining functions on the Wine Rack are covered when talking about the various buttons elsewhere in this manual.
There are a few things of note when using the Coffee Shelf.
The Coffee shelf rezes the following items:
There are a few things of note when using the Corned Beef Ager.
There are a few things of note when using the booze cabinet.
The following items will rez on the booze displays:
This display will rez anything you put in it; however, it’s mainly designed to rez and display the DFS Stuffie collectables. We can’t provide support for it to properly rez and display other items.
Some stuffies are very large and will not fit inside the cubby hole. Therefore, slots 1 through 4 are actually on the top of the display. To display a large item on top of the display, use the Manual option and select slots 1, 2, 3, or 4 as appropriate.
Because slots 1 through 4 are reserved for larger stuffies, the default starting position for the Stuffie Display is Slot 5 (upper left cubby hole).
As new Stuffies are released by DFS, the main database VMD maintaines is updated. You can load this new data into your display shelves by using the Reload button (described above).
As new Stash Blocker items are released, VMD will update the main database with the rez information. To get this new data into your shelves, use the Reload button (described above).
The Weeds Shelves use the same basic buttons, commands, and operation protocols as the other shelves mentioned above so you can refer to those portions of the manual for more information.
Weeds Shelves come as a set of three shelves (each copy) and there’s a name plaque on the bottom front of each shelf depicting the name (purpose) of that shelf.
