- Activity 1- Have your child use the handout for the week to complete the activity. They will need dice for the first activity. Have students record their answers on the sheet, or a piece of notebook paper or on a Google Doc that they will submit for a grade. Remember, you can send a picture to your child’s teacher of all the completed activities at the end of the week via phone, Remind, email etc.
- Activity 2 - Have your child watch the weather for today or look at the weather app on your phone. Answer the questions for Activity 2.
- Activity 3- Have your child look at the spinner. They need to study it and determine if the spinner is a “fair” spinner. (Are all the sections the same size? Why or why not would this make it fair/equal chance.)
- Activity 4 - Have your child flip a coin 20 times and record their results.
- Activity 5 - Have your child find 10 of the same thing with at least 3 various colors (M&Ms, legos, skittles, blocks, marbles). Use them for Activity 5.
*Remember that activities this week need to be submitted in some modality (Google classroom, picture sent to email, proof during zoom mtg, ect.)
For Students
- Activity 1:The probability of rolling a 3 on a dice is ⅙. Take a dice and roll it 6 times. Record how many times it lands on each number.
(If you do not have a dice, cut paper into 6 equal pieces and number each piece 1-6 and draw from a bag). Use the handout to complete this activity.
- Activity 2: Watch the weather for today or look at the weather app on a phone. Write the % chance of rain and then figure out the % chance it will NOT rain.
- Activity 3: Please study the spinner. Answer the questions in activity 3 on your document.
- Activity 4: The chance of flipping a coin and it landing on heads is ½ and landing on tails is ½. Flip a coin 20 times and record what happens.
- Activity 5 : Use 10 of the same item that has at least 3 different colors (M&Ms, legos, skittles, blocks, marbles). Put those items in a bag and without looking, pick from the bag and record the color you get. Replace the item and do this a total of 10 times. Answer the question.
