My name is Jo Hailey and I am the NHS School Health Nurse for Wheatley Park School.
Secondary schools within Oxfordshire have a named NHS School Health Nurse. The aim of the School Nurse is to offer evidence based, accessible, preventative health care for children and young people. http://www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/children-and-young-people/oxon/school-health-nursing/
I work closely with other professionals and school staff to support students to be both physically and emotionally healthy, make informed healthy lifestyle choices, improve physical and emotional health, and to reach their full potential.
I work Monday-Friday 08:30 – 14:30 during term time and appointments can be made to see you on a day that suits you best.
I hold regular ‘drop in’ school nursing sessions on Tuesday lunch times where no appointment is needed. You are also welcomed to pop in to my office at The Lodge before school, at break or lunch. If I am in and available, I am happy to see you.

Emergency contraception is most effective if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex.

The School Nursing service is confidential. This means you can discuss personal information with us and we will not discuss it with anyone else without your permission, unless we feel that you or another may be at risk of harm. If information needs to be shared we will always try to discuss this with you first so that you know why, and what will happen.
Medical support for students
Wheatley Park school has a policy for supporting students with medical conditions. This may be a short or long term medical condition which requires support or a need to take medication during the school day.
As part of this policy, we ask all parents/carers of children with a medical condition to help us by completing an Individual Healthcare Plan (IHCP) and/or Administration to Medication Form. For pupils that have been diagnosed with Asthma, the school asthma cards are attached below. Please complete the form(s) below, with the assistance of your child’s healthcare professional, and return to the school. If you would like to meet with someone to complete the forms, or if you have any questions then please contact the school office on 01865 872441
Your child’s completed IHCP will store helpful information about his/her medical condition, symptoms and triggers, current medication and emergency contact telephone numbers. The IHCP will enable school staff to better understand your child’s individual condition.
Please make sure the IHCP is regularly annually and updated and the school is kept informed about changes to your child’s medical condition or medication. This includes any changes to how much medication they need to take and when they need to take it.
Please note that parent/carers are responsible for ensuring medicine is in date and replaced when necessary.
