2025-2026 Playoff Overtime Rules

All Games Played to a Winner  •  First Goal Wins

Format

• If a game is tied at the end of regulation, the teams will play a 3-on-3, five (5) minute overtime period.   If the game is still tied at the end of the first overtime period, the teams will continue to play 3-on-3, five (5) minute overtime periods until there is a winner.
• There will be a one (1) minute rest period after the end of regulation and at the end of every overtime period.
• Teams will switch ends at the end of regulation and at the end of every three (3) overtime periods.
• Any skater on the team who is not serving a penalty can play during overtime.
• Changing on the fly is permitted.
• The first team to score will be declared the winner.

Penalties During Overtime

• Any unexpired penalties assessed during regulation carry over into the overtime period(s).
• If a penalty carries over into overtime or is incurred during overtime, the non-offending team will add a fourth (4th) player and the game will be played 4-on-3. If a second penalty is assessed on the same team before the first has expired, the non-offending team will add a fifth (5th) player and the game will be played 5-on-3.
• If the penalty expires before the non-offending team scores, the offending team will add a fourth (4th) player to bring the teams to 4-on-4 even strength until the next stoppage of play, at which point the game will return to 3-on-3 play.   If two (2) penalties have been assessed, the offending team will add two (2) players to bring the teams to 5-on-5 even strength until the next stoppage of play, at which point the game will return to 3-on-3 play.  If coincidental penalties are called, the teams will continue to play 3-on-3.
