Group Class Descriptions--Fall 2018

Basic Training:  Strength & Conditioning:  with high-intensity functional movement, we’ll work on cardiovascular endurance, strength, power, and agility, maximizing your performance and fitness. Whether your goal is to participate in an obstacle course run or just to make it to the end of class, come let one of our Strength and Conditioning coaches lead you through a great workout!

BOOM! Step & Strength:   If you like CorePower, this one’s for you! It’s an upbeat variety class that includes cardio, toning and ab work. We often use steps for cardio in this class--don’t worry though--there are no crazy moves that leave you feeling lost. We want you to get in some work! The steps are used for athletic based movements for cardio and functional fitness, and although the music guides the pace in this class, you can always workout to the beat of your own drummer! The goal of this class is to cover a lot in a short amount of time. Get in, work hard, and get it done!

BOOM! Move & Mind:  starts off with some high intensity, low-impact cardio (think “old school” aerobics) We average 5000 steps in this class; so, by the time class is over you are halfway to meeting the suggested 10,000 steps a day for a healthier you. Then, we move to elements of Pilates and Yoga in this functional class designed to help improve not only stability and flexibility, but also body awareness, balance and posture. In the “Mind” element of Boom we will be working to strengthen our core stabilizing muscles, improve flexibility, and correct imbalances.

Pilates: improves flexibility, builds strength and develops body control. Pilates emphasises  alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. Mats are available if you need one

REV 2.0 Group Cycling:  a 50 minute group indoor cycling class. Cycling is intense cardio, but you get to ride your own ride. Adjust your resistance as we climb hills, work through intervals, and sprint to the finish line. This is a fun one! Grab a towel and a water bottle and come join us on our next ride!

Strength 101 Abs and Arms:  like the name suggests, this is an upper body strength class. The design of the class is basic…No frills….No choreography—just strength training with barbells, dumbbells, and bands. The class is challenging, but can be modified for a variety of fitness levels.

Total Body Burn:  a strength and endurance class. Like Abs & Arms it has a simple layout without choreography, but this one includes upper and lower body. Squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks are just a few of the many exercises that pop-up in this class. It is a great well rounded workout.

SilverSneakers is fun as we move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase strength, range of motion, balance, and coordination. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support. This class can be adapted by the students depending on their fitness level and abilities. It is suitable for beginning to intermediate skill levels. SilverSneakers is designed as a senior class, but anyone can attend.

Chair Yoga: Get ready to move through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered so you can perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement.

Yoga:  a great way to incorporate balance and flexibility into your workout routine. Yoga focuses on fundamentals of body control to stabilize and and breath control to relax. No previous yoga experience is necessary to feel comfortable in this class. Mats are available if you need one.

Young at Heart:  a low-impact dance/floor aerobics class designed for our older adults. Have some fun as we move to the music. “It doesn’t have to be pretty. We just want to stay moving and breathing.”
