6th Grade Weekly Overview!
April 28- May 2, 2025
Course | Teacher | Here is what’s happening this week! |
ELA | Melanie Carpenter | WOW! Our Hero’s Journey presentations were really impressive! The creativity, structure, and perseverance they put into this project was unparalleled to anything they’ve completed this year. We will be starting a new unit on Monday on Teen Activism. This will be an informational unit, so students will strengthen their nonfiction reading, learn to properly cite sources, and summarize articles. We will focus on this for four weeks before heading into EOG preparation. No Red Ink is a fantastic app that we’ve been using in the classroom for the first 20 minutes of every class. Students have been reviewing grammar, parts of speech, spelling, and sentence structures. This learning should be applied to any and all writing assignments. This app is also available to them anytime and includes thousands of mini activities they can complete at any time! |
Math | Steven Sarnie | This week in Math we will be starting our biggest unit of the year, Algebra! We start with algebra basics in identifying terms and coefficients, but quickly move into solving fun, creative algebra puzzles. Instead of using variables we begin with emojis and icons. We have new vocabulary added to our Composition Notebooks. Weekly Standards
