Senior Exhibits

Seniors are grouped into four exhibits led by a faculty sponsor. Students curate and plan the entire exhibit from start to finish. Senior group parents help plan the reception. This is their culminating event and have to remain eligible to participate.

Senior Show Info

National Portfolio Day

NPD is an event at a Dallas hotel where students can get information and portfolio reviews from over 100 schools. The day prior, 15 schools will come to Booker T. for a mini version that’s exclusive to our students. The colleges give presentations and the guild hosts them in the gallery for portfolio reviews.

Young Arts

This is a merit based contest/scholarship program. All Finalists receive a one week intensive in Miami and the opportunity to apply to be a Presidential Scholar in the arts. All VA seniors are required to apply. Fee waivers available through Flex Teacher.

Friday Night Figure Drawing

This off campus opportunity is for students to experience a nude figure drawing class to supplement their portfolios for college. Eight classes for $110.

College Showcase

The entire school “shuts down” and hosts colleges for master classes, auditions, workshops, and portfolio reviews. All 11-12th graders participate in Showcase while all 9-10th graders attend academic classes and career presentations. The VA faculty schedule workshops, the Guild hosts a hospitality suite.

CUE Days

Culture/Unity/Enrichment Days are campus wide collaborative days that happen at the end of each grading cycle. These days might include performances, student led classes, field trips, etc.

Middle School Show

This exhibit is a recruitment effort and an art contest for prospective BTW students. The guild provides refreshments

After reviewing applications for National Art Honor Society, an exhibit and induction ceremony is held in our gallery. The guild provides refreshments

Spring Studio Shows

Studio classes are teamed up for group shows. All students can submit work. Receptions are on Thursdays and the guild provides refreshments

Gallery Schedule

Rising Senior Summer Intensive

This is an 8 day opportunity for rising seniors to come to campus to use studios and work side by side with VA faculty without the constraints of bells and grades. It’s a great way for them to kickstart their artmaking for their senior year.
