QUOTES FROM RECENT DELEGATES:

It’s not sunshine and rainbows. It’s sorrowful, but it’s beautiful in its complexity. It shows how everyone’s story is worthy of being known. How every hurt and scar is not something to be ashamed of. It’s something to celebrate. For all the accumulating, situational circumstances who have shaped you as a person, produce strength, empathy, integrity, emotional intelligence, and compassion to love bigger. This is a challenge. You will be challenged.

But you will grow and blossom. This time is beautiful and will mark your life

Advanced is so much different than anything I’ve ever done. It made me think, get in touch with my mental side and grow tremendous amounts. I made some of my best friends in only 3 days and will always share a special bond with them. After advanced I’m able to go home as a changed and better leader, daughter, friend and student. I’ve learned many important lessons that are gonna change my everyday lifestyle.

Advanced is a place to not only grow as a leader, but to find your voice as a person. It’s to figure out what legacy you want to leave behind, and the impact you made on other people, and the impact those people made on you

What was your “A-HA” moment during Advanced

I realized that the impact that I made on other people meant the most to me this week. While reading the poem “What will matter?” i was reminded why I am in STUCO & why I am called to ministry. When you invest in other people you get so much back. When you make someone else smile you smile even brighter. I will come home galvanized to brighten days & encourage others.

Probably when we did the Cross the Line activity. When we did that activity, suddenly it all came into clear focus. I realized that while we are all different, we are one and the same at our cores. The realization that everyone wanted to make a difference and that everyone had struggles that led them there was a huge one.

The cross the line. This just was a big change and  made me realize how I’m not alone and everyone has their own struggles and we are here for the same reasons. That reason being to grow and overcome the things that stop us from reaching the goals we hope to achieve one day.

My AH-HA came with the Trash your Values activity, which made me realize how many of my values were fake values I only held up to conform with society and expectations. I discovered what I truly valued, and my world view has drastically changed.

When we debriefed the Who packed your parachute was when I realized what the whole point of the workshop was helping us grow as leaders and it especially showed me that it doesn’t hurt to say thank you.
