Statement of Interest
In a formal business letter format, tell us:
- Why you would like to participate in the Co-operative Education Program;
- Your goals & expectations of the program;
- Why your qualifications would make you an ideal candidate, including the specific skills, knowledge, and abilities you possess that will make you marketable to an employer, provide details of how you gained each skill.
- Optional - other information you feel that the selection committee should be aware of when reviewing your application

Support Letter of Reference
- This is NOT a list of references. Do not include a contact list of people.
- In your letter of support for your application to the Co-op program, you may choose a reference who knows you from your academic studies, employment, volunteer, extra-curricular, or sport/recreational involvement. References from family, friends or immediate colleagues are not considered appropriate for this reference. Letters must be written specifically to support your application to Co-op.
- If your reference asks you for guidance on what to include in your reference letter, it is not required to include, but some good content includes:
- How the support reference knows you, and for how long
- The qualifications/skills/aptitudes they've observed you demonstrate make them think you would be a good candidate for the Co-op program.*
- A brief example or two of the qualifications in the application are always very impactful
(Some types of *qualifications/skills that would benefit a student in successfully completing Co-op include professionalism, problem-solving, communication, organization, time management (balancing priorities), etc.)
