  1. GRUNDY ADULT HOCKEY LEAGUE (GAHL) & FACILITY OVERVIEW

  1. The Grundy Adult Hockey League (GAHL) is an in-house adult league program that plays its games and sells adult rental ice at both Grundy Arena in Bristol, PA and Northeast Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia, PA. The facilities are about 15 minutes from each other.
  2. The current GAHL Commissioner is Jake Fahs and current Deputy Commissioner is Matt Brason (collectively known as “GAHL management”), both available at grundyadulthockeyleague@gmail.com. Players are asked to communicate with the GAHL management via their captain when possible. For time sensitive matters, GAHL management can be reached by text at 267-729-8141.
  1. GAHL management may escalate any matter to Grundy Arena’s/Northeast Skate Zone’s General Manager, Mike McVey, or its respective Hockey Directors, Gary Bingham and Vince Prozillo.
  1. Footage and images from the property and/or facility, including gameplay, may be used on social media and/or websites at the discretion of GAHL or facility management.
  2. GAHL management recognizes that not every scenario can be captured in its documented policies. The GAHL reserves the right to modify, customize, or add rules, policies, or supplemental discipline procedures to maintain the integrity of the league and remedy any fundamentally unfair or unacceptable conduct by a player or team.

  1. FOUNDRY ADULT HOCKEY MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

  1. EFFECTIVE FALL 2025, THE GAHL WILL NO LONGER BE A MEMBER USA HOCKEY LEAGUE. ALL BLACK BEAR SPORTS GROUP ADULT LEAGUES, INCLUDING THE GAHL, WILL BE SELF-INSURED THROUGH FOUNDRY ADULT HOCKEY MEMBERSHIP. ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO REGISTER FOR INDIVIDUAL POLICIES THROUGH THE GRUNDY ARENA WEBSITE UNLESS THE PLAYER POSSESS AN ACTIVE REGISTRATION THROUGH ANOTHER BLACK BEAR SPORTS GROUP ADULT LEAGUE.
  1. Annual Foundry Membership for Fall 2025 through Summer 2026 available here: https://bondsports.co/activity/programs/CO_ED-adult-HOCKEY/7123
  1. GAHL management, facility management, and in-game officials have the right, and at times the responsibility to report incidents to the Foundry Adult Hockey officiating and disciplinary team in the format that Foundry Adult Hockey designs (to be determined as of 7/13/2025).

  1. GAHL/FACILITY WEBSITES, GAMESHEET, & BLACK BEAR TV

  1. The facility websites are http://www.grundyarena.com/ and http://www.northeastskatezone.com.
  2. The GAHL website is http://www.grundyarena.com/grundy-adult-hockey-league.
  1. Schedules, standings, stats, online payments, and league resources like rules, code of conduct, stat correction requests, historical stats and standings, and schedule requests are all available on the GAHL website.
  1. Games are scorekept on Time to Score and the website updates automatically upon game completion and scorekeeper submission. In the event of technical difficulties, scorekeeper callout or error, etc., GAHL management will upload at its earliest opportunity.
  2. LiveBarn has been disabled in all Black Bear Sports Group facilities, including Grundy Arena and Northeast Skate Zone, as of September 15, 2024 and replaced with Black Bear TV. The GAHL is currently serving as one of Black Bear TV’s test markets for adult hockey for the Fall 2025 season at both facilities. There is currently no indication if this service will be available after the Fall 2025 season, and this service is not currently available at most local Black Bear links for adult hockey.
  1. Black Bear TV website: https://blackbearsports.tv/

  1. TEAM FEES & PAYMENTS

  1. Through Summer 2026, the season fee is $4,300 per team before discounts (see below).
  1. Teams with a documented history of forfeited games due to lack of attendance may be subject to a custom payment arrangement to reduce adverse effects on their opponents. Examples include but are not limited to:
  1. Increased season fee – if games are forfeited, additional fee may be used to refund opponents via future season credit; if games are not forfeited, additional fee will be returned via future season credit.
  2. Required pre-payment without discount, and with team subject to season cancelation without refund due to continued forfeits.

  1. EARLY PAYOFF DISCOUNTS

  1. Through Summer 2026, teams that pay $3,950 by game 1 will have their balance forgiven.
  2. Through Summer 2026, teams that pay $4,200 by game 3 will have their balance forgiven.

  1. WHEN TO PAY

  1. A minimum of 50% is due by game 1, whether or not teams are pursuing an early payoff discount.
  2. Teams must be completely paid in full by game 5.
  1. Teams that fail to pay on time may be forced to forfeit games and/or lose playoff eligibility.

  1. HOW TO PAY

  1. All payments must be made online at http://www.grundyarena.com/grundy-adult-hockey-league. No in person payments are accepted.
  1. ACH payments, also known as an eCheck, do not have a processing fee.
  2. Card payments carry a 3.75% processing fee.

  1. ROSTERS

  1. All players MUST be rostered with their respective teams prior to playing ANY games. To add a player to the roster, fill out the form on the GAHL website, or email grundyadulthockeyleague@gmail.com with the player’s full name, jersey number, and indicate if the player is a goalie.
  1. It is strongly recommended that teams clear roster additions with the GAHL before the player registers for their Foundry membership. Signing up for a membership in advance does guarantee roster approval. (All none Foundry registered players were removed from rosters & captains alerted that they would need to go through the process of re-adding/ re-approval to add any of these players back to their roster on 10/28/2025.)
  2. If sign-in sheets are printed before the player is rostered, the player must CLEARLY write their name and jersey number on the sign-in sheet. Repeated violations may result in forfeits. This is for pre- approved additions.
  1. Teams are advised that failure to add a player to the roster as an “honest mistake” does not impact whether a forfeit may be imposed due to a player being skill inappropriate for a particular division. Additions of legacy rostered players that a team may have legitimately not realized are no longer rostered are given a 72 hour exemption to comply. If the roster suddenly appears too good for the division then penalties will be imposed. Teams with non-rostered players may be required to forfeit any game that the ineligible player participates in.
  1. New players may be rostered at any time during the season. Players must be skill level appropriate for the division.
  1. To reduce potential for teams to bring in substitute players in late season games that could have playoff implications, all new additions beginning with game #9 will be subject to additional scrutiny. Any new additions perceived by GAHL management to be for the sole purpose of making a late playoff push or to disrupt another team’s playoff prospects will be denied, even if otherwise appropriate skill for the division.
  1. Substitute goalies are encouraged to be rostered but are exempt from this rule. Substitute goalies must still be approved by league management. Unapproved goalies may result in a forfeit.
  2. Excluding substitute goalies, no player may be rostered on more than 1 team within the same division.
  3. Player eligibility is subject to GAHL approval. The GAHL reserves the right to, at any time, determine that a player’s skill level does not warrant participation within a given division. The GAHL researches all player additions to the best of its ability as a preventative measure to maintain appropriate skill levels for divisions.

  1. SPECIAL ROSTER LIMITATIONS

  1. At no point shall the team roster more than 28 skaters, including substitute players, unless pre-approved by GAHL management. Unknown Skater dummy roster spots do not count towards this limit. Goalies do not count towards this limit unless the goalie also skates for the team. The GAHL’s Team Foundry is exempt from this roster limitation due to the nature of the team being a collection of free agents & league run.
  2. Unless pre-approval is received from the GAHL, players cannot be rostered more than 4 divisions apart.
  1. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT ANY PLAYER CAN PLAY 4 DIVISIONS BELOW THEIR HIGHEST TEAM. PLAYER SKILL LEVEL MUST STILL BE DIVISION APPROPRIATE.
  1. Example: A very good B3 Division player would be an average B1 player. Only being rostered on a B3 team would NOT grant that player the right to participate on a C3 team despite only being 4 divisions apart.
  1. This is a new rule effective Winter 2025. Teams will be granted a grace period if accidentally adding a sub that is still division appropriate but does not follow the 4-division spread rule. Early violations will result in warnings. Continued violations will result in forfeits. The grace period is expected to close following the Summer 2025 season.
  2. This rule applies to full-time goalies but does not apply for emergency substitute goalies. Emergency goalies are still subject to league management approval and must be of an appropriate skill level for the division they are substituting in.
  3. This rule does not apply for players that are a goalie at a higher level but a skater at a lower level, or the inverse.

  1. PLAYER ATTENDANCE AND PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY

  1. GAME DAY ATTENDANCE & SIGN-IN PROCEDURE

  1. All players MUST sign or initial their name on the sign-in sheet provided near the main office at either facility.
  1. Participation is tracked based on sign-in sheets and in-game tracking by scorekeepers. Sign-in sheets are verified by GAHL management and randomly audited by game footage. It is the team’s responsibility to ensure all players are signed in. Team-run apps such as BenchApp will not be honored as evidence of attendance. No players are permitted to sign-in other players – EX. A team captain signing all of the players he expects to be arriving for that game. This is to prevent game credit being misattributed to players who did not play.

  1. PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1. To be eligible for playoffs, players must participate and receive credit for a minimum of 6 games for fall or winter seasons and 5 games for summer seasons, regardless of when added to the roster.
  1. Individual exemptions can be made on a case-by-case basis, such as extended absences for medical reasons. Such an exemption will require an appeal to the Commissioner as the GAHL will not make any assumptions about why a player was unable to meet the minimum game requirement.
  1. A player is ineligible for any kind of exemption if they have received or are serving a suspension during that season with the requesting team.
  1. The following playoff eligibility rule exceptions apply:
  1. “A” Division minimum game requirement is 5 games for fall or winter seasons and 4 games for summer seasons, regardless of when added to the roster.
  2. Goaltenders:
  1. If only 1 goaltender has reached playoff eligibility (strictly in net, not part time as a skater), then that goaltender shall be the playoff eligible goaltender.
  1. Example: “Jeff” has played 8 games for Team A. Jeff is the playoff eligible goaltender.
  1. If no goaltenders have reached playoff eligibility due to the team lacking a starting goaltender, the player with the most games played shall be considered the eligible goaltender (subject to GAHL review for potential playoff “ringer” concerns).
  1. Example: “Jeff” has played 4 games for Team A, and 4 other goalies have played 3 games each. Jeff is the playoff eligible goaltender unless his use is perceived by GAHL management to skew playoff outcomes in favor of the using team.
  1. If two goaltenders have reached playoff eligibility (strictly in net, not part time as a skater),the team may select its goaltender and the other goaltender may play a different position, as long as the converted skater is skill appropriate for the level.
  1. Example: “Jeff” and “Matt” have each played 6 games for Team A. Team A may choose the goaltender and the other is eligible to skate as long as their skill level is considered appropriate for the division.
  1. If the normal goaltender does not reach playoff eligibility due to injury or other extenuating circumstances and the team seeks playoff eligibility (subject to GAHL approval), this will render all other goaltenders ineligible (excluding sub policy below) unless a fill-in goalie doubles as a skater for the same team and cumulatively reaches playoff eligibility.
  1. Example 1: “Jeff” returns to goaltending in game 10 from a long-term injury. “Matt”, strictly a goaltender, is now ineligible for playoffs.
  2. Example 2: “Jeff” returns to goaltending in game 10 from a long-term injury. “Matt” is both a goaltender and a skater. He was a fill-in goaltender for 4 games and skates in 2 games. Jeff is the playoff eligible goaltender and Matt is a playoff eligible skater.
  1. Sub goaltenders may be used in playoffs but are expected to be reasonably comparable to the normal goaltender. Teams MUST request approval for playoff sub goaltender. If a sub goaltender is used, the normal goaltender cannot play a different position as it would unfairly create an additional roster spot for playoffs.
  1. First responders/military/healthcare workers/ hockey coaches whose work/coaching commitments directly prevent them from attending games will only be required to attend 1 fewer game than the division’s regular minimum. This amount will depend on the division and season (see above). This does not apply if work commitments are not during game times. Team Captains will be required to notify GAHL management if this applies to any of their players – GAHL management will not make any assumptions about employment.
  1. GAHL reserves the right to require proof for all claims.
  1. To reduce playoff eligibility impact on non-offending teams in forfeit situations, and to discourage forfeits, the following apply:
  1. In the event of a pre-game forfeit, the winning team will receive credit for full team attendance and the losing team will receive no credit.
  2. In the event of a post-game forfeit, teams will receive credit for attendance as signed in.
  3. In the event of a “no-show” forfeit, which means no sufficient, reasonable, and actionable notice to the GAHL, the following penalties will apply in a rolling calendar year in addition to the pre-game forfeit attendance credit rules:
  1. First violation – Additional scrutiny for any playoff eligibility exemption requests.
  2. Second violation – Team captain is suspended for 1 game. No playoff roster exemptions of any kind, for any reason.
  3. Third violation – Team captain is suspended for 1 game. If team finishes in a playoff spot, team will be ineligible for playoffs. If team does not finish in a playoff spot, no playoff roster exemptions of any kind, for any reason, for the following season.

NOTE: If a team attempts to sign in a player who does not attend a game in an effort to reach the minimum eligibility requirement, no exemption will be granted to that player for any reason. Repeated attempts may result in team loss of playoff eligibility, suspensions to team captains, or other discipline at the sole discretion of the GAHL.

  1. LEAGUE SCHEDULE

  1. The current season schedule is 12 games plus playoffs.

  1. DIVISION GAME DAYS

  1. 40+: Monday through Thursday  with preseason team vote for specific day(s).
  2. A/B1/B2: Monday through Thursday
  3. B3/C1: Sunday through Friday
  4. C2/C3/C4/C5/D: Friday/Sunday

NOTE 1: Teams may be required to play abnormal game days if ice availability is limited.

NOTE 2: Teams may volunteer to play Saturday mornings/nights or Sunday mornings. No teams will be forced to play at these times.

  1. SCHEDULE BLACKOUT REQUESTS

  1. Teams must submit a list of “blackouts” for any days or times the team is unavailable each season, or if there are teams that can’t overlap on the schedule due to players rostered in multiple divisions. The GAHL makes no guarantee that it can accommodate all requests.
  1. The form to submit blackout requests is on the GAHL website.
  2. Blackout requests must be submitted before the relevant date appears on the GAHL schedule. If already scheduled before a request is received, with few exceptions, the request will be disregarded.
  3. Because of potential conflicting blackout requests among teams in the same division, the GAHL may not be able to accommodate requests during playoffs.
  4. The following days/holidays are league blackouts unless the rink schedule is fully booked. All others must be requested off by teams:
  1. New Year’s Eve, Day, and Weekend
  2. Superbowl Sunday
  3. Memorial Day and Weekend
  4. Mother’s Day
  5. July 4th and Weekend
  6. Labor Day and Weekend
  7. Thanksgiving Day and Weekend
  8. Christmas Day and Weekend

  1. CANCELED OR POSTPONED GAMES

  1. Games will be rescheduled if a game is cancelled at the fault of the GAHL/Grundy Arena/Northeast Skate Zone, or any other no-fault reason such as a power outage.
  2. Games will not be rescheduled if a team is at fault, such as being unable to bring enough players. The offending team will forfeit the game and the winning team will have access to the ice during the scheduled time slot.

  1. RESCHEDULING GAMES FOR PHILLIES, EAGLES, OR FLYERS PLAYOFFS

  1. Rink and league operations cannot stop just because our local professional teams are in the playoffs. The below events are the only games that the GAHL will consider rescheduling at no cost to teams:
  1. Phillies Championship Series (NLCS) clinching games & any Phillies World Series games
  2. Eagles Conference Championship
  3. Flyers Conference Finals clinching games & any Flyers Stanley Cup games
  1. The following parameters must be met in order for a game to be rescheduled:
  1. Both teams must agree OR the rink/GAHL cannot staff games during the event
  2. Must have more than 24 hours’ notice
  3. The rinks must have ice availability
  4. Teams must consent to possible playing on abnormal division game days

  1. RESCHEDULING GAMES – BUYOUT OPTION

  1. For $100, the GAHL will reschedule any regular season game provided the other team consents and there is facility schedule availability. Rescheduled games may not adhere to normal division schedules or team blackout requests and may result in back-to-back gamedays. The fee is meant to be affordable enough to be realistic but expensive enough to discourage repeated use.
  1. Notice must be provided to officials and scorekeepers with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice, otherwise the GAHL is responsible for paying them. If less than 48 hours’ notice will be given to officials and scorekeepers, the fee to reschedule will include their pay and increase to $280. This covers:
  1. $100 to Grundy Arena
  2. Officials
  3. Scorekeeper
  4. Referee assigning fees
  1. Requesting teams may be asked to provide an incentive to their opponent for an opponent to agree to reschedule a game. This is optional and negotiable between teams.

  1. PLAYOFF SCHEDULES

  1. Playoff schedules will be arranged, to the best of GAHL ability based on ice availability, to limit any potential overlap for players in more than 1 division when properly reported by team Captains.
  2. With more than 1 month of notice, the GAHL may consider rescheduling a playoff game at a team’s request with the understanding that the GAHL will not move a game at a team’s request if it potentially disadvantages another team, provided the following:
  1. There is ice availability
  2. It does not cause any instances of potential roster overlap
  3. It does not interfere with another team’s blackout requests
  4. It does not cause any undue harm to another team in any other way, provided GAHL is made aware of it ahead of time
  5. It does not cause the delay of following playoff rounds, start of new season, etc.
  1. With less than 1 month notice, the GAHL may consider rescheduling a playoff game at a team’s request provided the following:
  1. There is ice availability.
  2. The potential opponents agree to move the game
  3. It does not cause any instances of potential roster overlap
  4. It does not interfere with another team’s blackout requests
  5. It does not cause any undue harm to another team in any other way, provided GAHL is made aware of it ahead of time
  6. It does not cause the delay of following playoff rounds, start of new season, etc.
  1. The GAHL reserves the right to reschedule a playoff game due to facility needs

  1. RULES & DISCIPLINE

  1. AGE REQUIREMENTS

  1. All participants in the skill-based divisions must be 18 years of age or older. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. All participants in the 40+ Division must be 40 years of age or older or turn 40 years old during the season.
  1. Exception: goaltenders must be 18 years of age or older.

NOTE: Any violations of the rules in this section will result in an automatic forfeit.

  1. RULEBOOK & GAHL “HOUSE RULES”

  1. Gameplay is governed by the standard USA Hockey rulebook. Exceptions:
  1. “Blue line” icing will be used, which may be different than some local area adult league programs.
  2. Officials are permitted to use their judgement to eject players as needed without issuing a Game Misconduct. See below for additional details if a Game Misconduct is issued.
  1. See Section 8.3.2 for additional “house rules” regarding overtime and mercy procedures.
  2. See Section 8.4 regarding non-Foundry Adult Hockey assessed suspensions or other discipline.

  1. GAME FORMAT

  1. Games are 5 vs. 5 with 3 periods at 15-minutes each.
  2. 2 referees and 1 scorekeeper will be provided by the GAHL.
  1. Games will be played as scheduled in the event of referee/scorekeeper “call-outs” if a reasonable alternative is available, i.e. playing with 1 referee or 20-minute running periods for a missing scorekeeper.
  2. If the game is unplayable due to missing referees/scorekeepers, it will be rescheduled.
  1. If not cancelled in advance, teams will be permitted to use the ice as scheduled in addition to the rescheduled game.

  1. OVERTIME & SHOOTOUT

  1. Overtime – If tied at the end of regulation, a single 5 minute overtime of 4 vs. 4 period will be played. Teams will not switch sides (defensive zone in front of home bench, same as 1st and 3rd period).
  1. No team may have fewer than 3 players on the ice. Penalties in 4 vs. 4 overtime periods may result in players being added to the non-offending team, similar to the current NHL regular season overtime format.
  2. If tied at the end of overtime, a shootout will be played.
  1. Shootout – 3-person shootout, followed by sudden death rounds.
  1. Home team selects which team shoots first.
  2. No repeat shooters until all skaters have made an attempt, then shooters can be reused with no limit.
  3. Any player serving a penalty at the conclusion of overtime is ineligible to participate in a shootout.
  1. PLAYOFFS ONLY: Overtime will consist of 15-minute periods of 5 vs. 5 until the winning goal is scored. Teams will not switch sides (defensive zone in front of home bench, same as 1st and 3rd period).

  1. RUNNING CLOCK/MERCY RULE

  1. 7+ goal differential AND 3rd period – running clock, which only stops for injuries and timeouts.
  1. If goal differential is reduced to 4, then return to normal stop clock.
  1. 10+ goal differential AND 3rd period – game immediately terminates.

  1. POINT FORMAT

  1. Regulation win: winning team – 3 points / losing team – 0 points.
  1. Pre-game forfeits will be recorded as a 4 to 0 regulation win.
  1. The GAHL has requested that Time to Score develop the capability to manually deduct points in standings. Once developed and implemented, all pre-game forfeits will be recorded as winning team – 3 points / losing team negative 1 point. If developed and implemented during the season, this rule will be applied retroactively to the current season.
  1. Rule violation forfeits will be recorded as a win by 4 goals with the final score dependent on the reason the forfeit was applied.
  1. The GAHL has requested that Time to Score develop the capability to manually deduct points in standings. Once developed and implemented, the GAHL will evaluate late season rule violation forfeits to determine if it was intentionally done to influence playoff standings or seeding. If evident, the rule violation forfeit will be recorded as winning team – 3 points / losing team negative 1 point.
  1. Overtime/shootout win: winning team – 2 points / losing team – 1 point.

  1. STANDINGS & PLAYOFF STRUCTURE

  1. Tiebreakers:
  1. Head to head wins
  2. Head to head points
  3. Wins
  4. Goal differential
  5. Fewest penalty minutes
  6. Goals for
  7. Goals against
  8. Most periods won
  1. In divisions with 4-8 teams, the top 4 teams will make the playoffs.
  2. In divisions with 9 or more teams, the top 6 teams will make the playoffs with the top 2 teams receiving a first-round bye.
  3. Matchups will be high seed vs. low seed.
  4. All rounds are single elimination.
  5. Depending on final results, in combination with current and future roster composition, teams may be required to advance or drop a division by 1 level for a future season to maintain competitive integrity of a division.

  1. SUPPLEMENTAL DISCIPLINE POLICY

  1. Supplemental discipline will be handed out at the discretion of the GAHL and may differ from the below list on a case-by-case basis: The GAHL reviews all Game Misconducts/ejections through a combination of security footage, discussion with officials and management, discussion with team captains, among others, and may choose to rescind at its discretion.
  1. Game Misconducts/ejections/reports of egregious conduct may not be available for review if footage is not available. In such cases, discipline will be based on the final penalty call after possible discussions between the GAHL and officials.
  2. If a participant receives a suspension and is found to not have a valid Foundry Adult Hockey registration, that player’s “clock” will not start until registered and cannot participate in any league games until in compliance. Games served while out of compliance will not count towards the suspension.
  3. If, in the opinion of GAHL management, there is a period of excessive unsportsmanlike behavior resulting in the need for supplemental discipline league or division-wide, the GAHL reserves the right to customize its enforcement. Examples include probationary periods where all suspensions are doubled in length compared to normal enforcement.
  4. Match Penalties will now be reviewed by Blackbear Sports Group’s director of officials in a manner similar to the process used by USA Hockey. Individuals issued a match penalty are ineligible for play in all Foundry leagues until the review is completed & judgement issued.
  1. Any intentional damage to another person's property outside the scope of reasonable hockey and/or intense play that renders the property unusable will automatically result in a 3 game suspension. The resulting suspension is to be served with the team where the offense occurs unless the offending player is “subbing” for that team – the suspension will then apply to their “usual” team. “Usual” team to be determined at the sole discretion of league management. The offending player has the option of replacing the destroyed item (with identical property or the equivalent replacement/ value) or reimbursing the value of the person's destroyed property in lieu of serving the automatic 3 game suspension. Damage claims must be supported by irrefutable facility video footage that the damage happened outside the scope of reasonable hockey and/or intense play, and there must be irrefutable evidence that the claimed property matches what is seen on video. All claims will be reviewed at the sole discretion of the GAHL or facility management. (Effective beginning 10.7.25)

  1. SUPPLEMENTAL DISCIPLINE STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES

  1. Most general Game Misconduct penalties will likely result in a 1 game suspension. Egregious conduct may result in extended suspensions at the sole discretion of the GAHL.
  2. Fighting majors carry a 3-game suspension for the first offense.
  3. Intentional contact with an on-ice official, off-ice official, or facility staff member will result in an immediate indefinite suspension pending GAHL and facility management review.
  4. Certain on-ice conduct may result in supplementary discipline even if not called by an on-ice official.
  5. Off-ice conduct may result in supplementary discipline.
  6. Suspensions carry over from season to season as applicable.
  7. For players in multiple divisions, suspensions only apply to the team that received the penalty. The GAHL may extend to multiple divisions at its discretion.
  8. Teams leaving abnormal messes anywhere in the facility or on facility property such as parking lots are subject to fines to fines in increments of $25 per offense.
  9. Teams leaving abnormal damage anywhere in the facility or on facility property such as parking lots are subject to fines that cover the cost of damage and labor, at a minimum.
  10. If a participant has a full or partially unserved suspension with a team and is no longer on that team, or receives a suspension as an emergency sub, the suspension will instead be applied to the participant’s other team(s) or will resume when the participant returns to the GAHL.

  1. REPEAT OFFENDER RULES

  1. Game Misconducts issued as a result of violence or recklessness as determined by the GAHL:
  1. Add 1 game for each offense. Additional discipline may be handed out as determined by the GAHL.
  2. Players must complete 1 full season from start to finish without a suspension of any kind for repeat offender status to drop by 1 level. This status applies across divisions, but suspensions will not extend to all divisions simultaneously unless at 3rd offense.

EXAMPLE: Roughing Game Misconduct in season 1/game 2 for team A, assessed 1 game suspension from team A. Charging Game Misconduct in season 1/game 6 for team B, assessed 1 game suspension and escalates to 2 game suspension for team B. Slashing Game Misconduct in season 2/game 5 for team C, assessed 1 game suspension and escalates to 3. Suspended from all league games until 3 games served for team C.

  1. Game Misconducts issued as the result of a fighting major:
  1. 5 game suspension for the second offense; season-long suspension for a third offense; indefinite suspension for a subsequent offense.

EXAMPLE: Fight in season 1/game 1 for team A, suspended from team B for 3 games. Fight in season 1/game 6 for team C, suspended from team C for 5 games. Fight in season 2/game 4 for team B, suspended from all adult league games until 1 full season is served with team B.

  1. SPORTSMANSHIP POLICY

  1. The GAHL relies on its participants to foster a positive, welcoming, and sportsmanlike environment. No matter how many rules are put in place, it is up to us all to behave in a responsible and fair manner. GAHL management counts on its participants to work together towards the below overarching principles:
  1. Fun
  2. Exercise
  3. Comradery
  4. Spirited but fair, safe, and sportsmanlike competition
  1. As stated in Section 1, GAHL management recognizes that not every scenario can be captured in its documented policies. The GAHL reserves the right to modify, customize, or add rules, policies, or supplemental discipline procedures to maintain the integrity of the league and remedy any fundamentally unfair or unacceptable conduct by a player or team.
  2. Everybody would rather win than lose, but participants must remember that this is a recreational sport and it should be treated with the appropriate level of casual behavior and conduct. That includes:
  1. Understanding that being held accountable for a rule violation does not mean you are being targeted by any team or GAHL management.
  2. Not contacting GAHL management in their personal lives via personal phone, social media, etc. to air a grievance (seriously, it is weird - please don’t be weird).
  3. Understanding that paying a league fee does not grant you the right to treat anyone with blatant disrespect, which includes other participants, officials, GAHL management, or facility staff.
  1. Any participants that find the concept difficult, please refer to Section 8.5(D).
  1. Being a part of the GAHL community is a privilege, not a right. Those that can’t abide by the GAHL’s principles are encouraged to seek alternative leagues, rinks, or sports.
