Sunday CC Roundup 9/8
Different meet, same results. The strong performance for the Eagles continued Saturday at the Pace Patriot Invitational. We won both varsity team titles team titles and the JV races were won by Cooper Breeze and Emily Reid with Finn Hodge leading the boys varsity team with a 4th place finish and and Lilli Holtery placing 2nd in the girls Varsity races. Overall we placed 6 boys and 6 girls in the top 15 of the varsity races and 9 of the top 10 in the boys jv race, and 6 of the top 10 in the girls jv race. Had there been jv team scores, we would have won. Full Results and pics are also available on the team facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/nicevillehighcrosscountry).
So far we’ve had some awesome photos by Chris Gesch and Annabelle Dedmore this season. Feel free to continue to share your photos on the facebook page. Also special thanks to Mr and Mrs Case for transporting and setting up the tents for the second time this season. Thanks also to everyone who helped clean up afterwards.
This week’s “Runners of the Week”
It was a tough go choosing this week’s runner of the week for the Varsity Boys team as we had a number of very strong races. That being said, I think this may have been the breakout race we have been waiting for from of Senior Jake Dever, who has now dropped his PR by 22 seconds from last season.
Starting off the day with a bang for the Eagles was Freshman Abigail Vestel, who has shown tremendous improvement going from our #8 runner in the first regular season meet to our #5 runner this week, and in the process running a 43 second PR!
Running in the heat of the combined JV race, Freshman Cooper Breeze let the Varsity guys know that if anyone isn’t on their game he is ready to step in and take their place. Cooper won the race by 6 seconds running a strong time of 19:10!
Also running in the heat of the combined JV race, freshman Evelyn Schutt, who is new to competitive cross country this season, ran to a 29 second PR!

Tell me about your family...
My parents and little brothers are the best support network I could ever ask for and have been tirelessly supportive of me running despite the odd hours of the morning and the endless mud on my shoes.
My mom and dad are the coolest parents ever and they support me in everything I do. My mom is the most caring woman in the world and my dad is the hardest working guy I know. My brothers are weird but I’m proud to have them as my brothers.
When did you start running? Why did you start running?
My sophomore year of high school and because Coach asked if I would try and so I did.
Late 7th grade. My dad made me do track late 7th grade and I ended up really enjoying it.
Favorite part about being a cross country runner
The friendships and unique experiences from spending that long with a team and relying on each other to run your best every day.
The races because they bring in another challenge to conquer, each race is a chance to do better and be better.
Best memory of cross country
Running on the track so fast that we ran in and out of a storm during a workout.
FSU camp freshman year.
Favorite Musician/Band/Music Genre

Thank you to my coaches and my teammates for always helping me and supporting me through every mile I truly appreciate and will miss it when the season ends.
Cross country has been an amazing experience. It has had it’s ups and downs, but I’ve had an awesome coach and an amazing team and I wouldn’t trade my years on this team for anything. It was definitely a lot of fun.
