Today is day 4
The Health & Wellness Committee is partnering with the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region to collect New Toys for families during the holidays. We will have two holiday collection boxes; one in the vestibule of the main entrance and the other in the guidance office. We will be holding our Toy Drive until December 21st.
so please don't forget to contribute.
Please help us make the holidays a bit brighter for children throughout the community.
Today, December 7th, directly after school there will be a brief informational meeting for anyone interested in participating in Unified Bowling in room 112. Family ID will be open for registration for Unified Bowling on Monday December 12th.
Attention 10th grade students interested in attending BOCES CTI next year. There is a BOCES CTI Visitation Day on Thursday, January 5th. See your school counselor for a permission slip ASAP as spots fill quickly. Permission slips are due back by Thursday, December 22nd.
Attention Students: John Jay Honor Roll and Boces Honor Roll is now posted in the English Wing. Congratulations to all on this great achievement!

Attention Seniors!!
You MUST fill out a transcript request form for every college you are applying to in order for your counselor to send your transcript and letters of recommendation to the colleges of your choice. This form should be filled out AT LEAST TWO WEEKS in advance. Transcript request forms can be found in the google classroom. In addition, there are QR codes posted in both guidance suites that will take you to this form.
SENIORS: BABY PICTURES **SUBMISSIONS STARTED TUESDAY NOVEMBER 1, 2022 AND ENDS ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 31, 2023**. -- THE BABY PICTURE AD IS $10 - CASH ONLY. TO SUBMIT: Place PICTURE AND CASH inside an envelope and PLEASE label the back of the picture AND the front of the envelope with your first & last name followed by your student ID#, english teacher's name, and place it inside the box located in the Main Office.
YEARBOOK: The 2023 John Jay Patriot Yearbook is now on sale. In order to ensure that we can add as much content and make it more valuable, yearbooks will not be delivered in the Spring but will be shipped individually in August to your home. When ordering a yearbook, please make sure your home address is correct. A special offer is being made, if you order personalization by 11/25/2022, you will get up to four free icons. IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR
COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS
Please request your teacher letter of recommendations through SCOIR only. When you fill out your COMMON APPLICATION there will be a section that asks you to request recommendations. Simply put your teacher's name in the required field to move forward to the next screen on your application. DO NOT PUT YOUR TEACHER OR COUNSELOR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THIS SECTION.
If you have already requested a letter of recommendation through the common application, you must log into your account and use the "Manage Recommenders" option to remove the current invitation. Then, log into SCOIR to request your letter. It is imperative that you follow these directions or your common application will not process correctly.

Ski and Snowboard Club
Important Updates! For all members going on the first trip to Jiminy Peak on January 7th, the Lift Ticket money ($36) is due next Monday, December 12th after school in the cafeteria. (This is just a "collection meeting" and members can leave once they turn in their lift ticket money). Second, all members must ski or ride with a buddy or group. There is a Buddy List sign up posted in our Google Classroom. Sign up on the Buddy list prior to the December 12th meeting. Any questions, please email Kathryn.Lieber@wcsdny.org
The John Jay Book Club will be meeting Monday, December 12th after school in the Library for a Holiday Get-Together. Join our Google Classroom: 6l2fhtg.

Computer Science Honor Society will be meeting TODAY, December 7 after school in Room 149 to get ready for our next event - Hour of Code Middle School Mentors. This event is a service opportunity field trip on 12/13 to assist middle school teachers and 7th and 8th graders as they try out Hour of Code activities. See you at the Comp Sci prep meeting this Wednesday!
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club: SADD Club will be meeting every other Monday. Our next meeting is Monday, 12/12 at 2:30pm in Room 101! We will be discussing our upcoming bake sale, prevention activities, and working on the bulletin board.

Amnesty International will be meeting this Thursday in room 189 after school. Join them if you're interested in advocating for current human rights issues.
Amnesty International will be hosting Write for Rights this Friday, December 9th in the art wing. Stop by after school or before Proscenium's show with your friends and family to sign a few letters and get a couple of munchkins!

The John Jay Robotics Team will be hosting a Winter "3D printing workshop" at John Jay this December. Students will learn the skills of 3-D modeling through Onshape! The course will cover the basics from part making to designing fully functioning assemblies. More information can be found at jaybots.org/cad

John Jay Chess Club
Are you a keen chess player who would like to join a club? John Jay Chess Club will be on Tuesdays. The meetings will be in room 247 at 2:30pm.
GSA will be meeting every Thursday after school in room 191.
INTERACT: Anyone interested in joining Interact, the school's community service club should join our Google Classroom. The class code is gezbd33 Interact club meets on Tuesdays.
