Meeting Agenda and Club News

MEGA Barrel Project: This year we’ll be doing two beers--a barleywine and a Russian Imperial Stout (clone of Portsmouth’s Kate the Great). Each will be aged in a port barrel. Recipes and sign-up sheet will be posted to the member’s forum on the website soon. In order to fill the barrels we’ll need 10 participants (brewing five-gallon batches) for each beer. Once the barrel aging is complete, you’ll get back the volume you contributed.

News: Other old business and new business.

Education Topic: The differences between American Pale Ale and American IPA, and how they came to be.

MEGA Ingredients Inventory: MEGA members are eligible and encouraged to use select hops and grain from the club’s inventory. Any beer brewed with these ingredients must be available to serve at a MEGA event (e.g., Michiana Festival of Beers). You can see what hops and grain we have by visiting the website and hovering over the “Members” tab and clicking on “MEGA BREWING INVENTORY.” You must be logged in and have member permissions to access this page. If you see anything you would like to use, there is a form at the bottom of the page to submit your request.

MEGA Supplies Inventory: MEGA has PBW ($3.50/lb.), StarSan ($0.75/oz.), and Golden Light DME ($2.50/lb.) for sale. These are available for purchase at club meetings. Bring your own container. If you’re planning to purchase, please notify us in advance so we’re not lugging the stuff to meetings needlessly.
