VM DESIGNS WEBSITE MEMBERS AREA
Current Version: 8.1 Released Jan 26, 2023
Works for several systems with sorters..
Ever been out shopping and see a good buy on some items and not sure how many you might already have in your sorter? Or what about being away from your home or farm and a friend asks, “Hey, do you have any apple baskets?” It might be frustrating to teleport home just to check your sorter or to get them an apple basket. The answer is, the Sorter Webview tool.
This tool allows you to see the items and quantity of each item in your sorters from the website. You don’t even have to be logged in to Second LIfe! Also, you can deliver any item in your sorter directly to your avatar no matter where you are in SL!! You can also view the same information on any sorter that you’re an admin for as long as the primary owner has their sorter enabled for Sorter Webview.
NOTE: You need DFS Modular Sorter Version 7.2.6 or higher or Weeds Sorter Version 2.0 or higher to use the Sorter Webview tool. If you have an earlier version, please get a free redelivery for the Modular Sorter and update to the latest Modular Sorter before setting up the Sorter Webview.
NOTE: You MUST have Webview 8.0 or higher installed in your sorter to use the newer, enhanced functions of webview.
NOTE: You need to have a registered account (be a member) on VM Designs’ website, http://vmdesignssl.com/.
CAUTION: If you had a VM Designs’ web account setup prior to the latest changes you’ll need to update yourself on the website. Please follow these steps:
NOTE: Your sorter needs to be named via the admin menu for the Webview to be able to tell you which sorter is in which slot. If you do not name your Sorter, it will appear as “Default” in the Webview list of sorters.
Go to the VM Designs’ website, http://vmdesignssl.com/, and click the Member Area menu item and login. Note, if you’re not a member you’ll need to join in order to access this area.
Once you’re logged in, you’ll be in your member’s area of the website. You’ll have some menu items along the top, which may vary depending on your VMD products. Hovering over these menu headings will popup additional options shown here:
Unpack the box like normal and you’ll get a folder in your inventory. Follow these setup steps.
Unpack the box as normal.
Step 1 - Rez the Access Token in a location where you have rez rights and where scripts can run. This notifies the VMD Servers that you have the rights to use this Add-On. The Access Token will do its job and vanish. The Access Token has copy permissions so you’ll still have one in your inventory. You will see a local chat message confirming your access rights were updated.
Step 2 - Go to any of your Sorters that need to use this Add-On and access the Sorter menu. On the main Sorter menu go to the Add-Ons section and you should be able to toggle this Add-On to “On” and its status will show On once the popup menu refreshes.
That’s all there is to it. Your sorter will now appear in the Webview list. We recommend you name your sorter(s) so the name will appear in the Webview, otherwise your sorter(s) will appear as Default. See the Sorter user’s manual for naming.
NOTE: The below example uses DFS as the system and this is the default system when you enter the Webview screen. Even though DFS is showing, you must click the Select System button for your sorters to populate. If you use another system, click in the window that shows DFS and select the appropriate system and click the Select System button.
NOTE: The below assumes you are already logged in to the members area and have located the menu for Sorter Inventory and Sorter Inventory Combined under the DFS Stuff menu heading (see the Members Area section above).
At the top center of the Sorter Inventory screen you’ll see a selection window with your Second Life account name. If you’re an admin on other people’s sorters and those people have WebView, you’ll be able to select the sorter belonging to them to view their sorter.
Once you make the name selection, your account name will default back to the selection window and the left side of the inventory view (if a single sorter is being viewed) will populate with the name of the person you selected. You’ll also see a list of the sorter slot number(s) and the name of the sorter(s) owned by that person. This is where you can check which sorters you have assigned to which slots so you don’t accidentally overwrite an assigned sorter slot number in your sorter’s menu.
Additionally, you’ll see the UUID of the sorters, which is handy in case you wish to move items from an object to a sorter, such as unpacking a VMD BoxUp crate using the “Other” option where you need to enter a UUID.
The sorter selection window on the left side of the screen under the avatar account name allows you to select which sorter’s contents you wish to view. Simply select the sorter (if more than one is listed) and then click the Choose Sorter button.
Once the selection is made, the sorter’s contents will appear on the screen.
If you are on the website looking at a sorter inventory and you change the contents of the sorter in Second Life or you add or remove sorters from the webview slots, click the Refresh Sorter or Refresh Sorter List buttons as appropriate to refresh the screen.
NOTE when viewing a single sorter: If you have a normal sorter selected the Count column displays how many of that item you have, so if it says 4 for your DFS Milk Cartons, you should have 4 milk cartons in that sorter. However, if you have an RU sorter selected, the number in the Count column is the best estimate of the total number of uses for all the items in that crate. For example, if you have one milk carton with 2 uses and two milk cartons with 3 uses each, you would see 8 in the count column.
NOTE: Also when viewing a single sorter: At the top of the list in the Red Banner you’ll see the name of the select sorter. Next to the name in brackets [ ] you’ll see a number that represents how many items are in that sorter, not including bulk/boxed up items.
There may be a time you delete a sorter or two in Second Life, but they still show up on your webview. If this happens, follow these steps:
If the reverse happens and you have an Active sorter that is not displayed in your Webview list, follow these steps:
You can send an item from your sorter to your avatar no matter where you’re at in SL. You can also have your sorter box up items from you to pick up later. Here are the steps for these functions.
Sending Items: Once you have a sorter selected and viewed (from the Using the Sorter Webview section above) you’ll see a column called “Send?” with a checkbox next to each item name. Check a box for the item, enter the quantity to send in the “Number to Send” field above the list, and then click the Get Item button. Your sorter will send the items to you one at a time.
Boxing up items: Once you have a sorter selected and viewed (from the Using the Sorter Webview section above) you’ll see a column called “Box?” with a checkbox next to each item name. Check the appropriate box and then in the field called “Number to Send” enter the number of items you want inside the box then click the Get Item button. Note: Your sorter will execute the “Box up” function, rezing a crate and filling it with the number of items. However, there’s no way for an item (your Sorter) to send you another item (the boxed up crate) so the items you boxed up will be at your sorter waiting for you to pick them up later.
Multi-BoxUp: You can also use the Box Count field in the Box column to perform a multi-boxup. Check the box of the item to box up under the Box column. Enter how many boxes you want in the Box Count field and enter the number of items per box in the Number to send field and then click the Get Item button. Your sorter will perform a multi-box up and they will be waiting for you at your sorter.
Note: To reduce lag and processing time, the numbers in the Count column on the webview will not update as you deliver or box up items. To see an accurate count, click the Refresh Item List button at the top of the webview.
Ever end up with a bunch of reduced uses items and want to know what you can make to clear those out? Or maybe you’re looking at your sorter and wondering if there’s something new you could try to make. If either of these are true, this feature is for you!! Here’s what you do:
Note: This feature is mainly designed to help you clear out your RU (Reduced Uses) items, which is why RU is in the name of these buttons. However, it will currently work on any sorter you select. Please remember this one note, that was also mentioned above:
The combined page has the button ‘Recipe Check Exact’ which will look at all your non RU sorters and show you what recipes you can make with exactly what is in your sorters.
