Ducati Pacifica is Racing “Dusk ‘til Dawn” - 11 June 2024

We’re excited to announce the official DucPac club entry into the 2024 Sang Froid Riding Club “Dusk ‘til Dawn”; a 12-hour off-road endurance race taking place July 13th and 14th from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in the Tillamook State Forest. Using non-technical green/blue rated “Quad/ATV” trails, the race is designed to be fun for both new and experienced off-road riders. The challenge of the race is steady-rolling laps ALL. NIGHT. LONG. and resisting the call of the DJ booth and partying with everyone smart enough not to race through the middle of the night. The team that turns the most laps over 12 hours wins the race for their class.

Jonas (IG: @frozenjonasconcentrate), our Lead Instigator, is an occasional camera stand-in-front-of-er and a frequent plugger of the DucPac Discord *cough* join the Discord *cough*. He convinced ONE friend to ride the Dusk-Til-Dawn in 2022 on dirtbikes; they made it to 3 a.m. Jonas saw the 2024 event and thought, “How can I make this even harder?” He registered with a DesertX and then went about convincing our next contestant it was a good idea.

Tamer (IG: @tamertime), our handsome AF Club President, has been ADVing Italian bikes for years in addition to his street and track riding . His off-road skills have grown with tire diameter from a MTS1200 through Multi Enduro and now the DesertX. Tamer has completed numerous BDRs, is known for extracting every last drop of enjoyment out of his bikes, consistently makes good choices, and as DucPac President is responsible for driving all of the new activity elevating the Club. For some reason, he believed Jonas when he was told this would be fun.

Spencer (IG: @the_gear_dude), an experienced Big Bike Shenaniganator, rounds out the team. Spencer needed no convincing that this would be a good idea. Some may know him from his ADVPulse articles encouraging riders around the world to get out and do the thing or his presence at events representing TrailTech. Recently crowned by Ducati North America CEO Jason Chinook for completing the Ducati Dirty Dozen Challenge, Spencer brings a wealth of skill and experience to the team. Tamer and Jonas look forward to trying not to embarrass themselves in front of him.

Get Out There

Want to get involved? SFRC is looking for volunteers to assist with the race, and if you’ve ever been to an SFRC event like the Bol d’ Oregon, Alley Sweeper, or Gold Rush ride, you know how awesome they are. Volunteering helps clubs like SFRC keep putting on the events you love; so come give them a hand if you’re able.

Interested in Trail, ADV, Street, or Track riding but don’t know where to start or looking for like-minded individuals? Even if you aren’t on a Ducati, come hang out with DucPac; all are welcome. We currently have monthly 1st and 3rd Thursday meetups on the East and West side through the summer, have a 2nd Sunday street ride every month, and an active Discord community that would love to talk to you about motorcycles and things vaguely related to them. Between now and the race, Tamer and Jonas are going on weekly after-work ADV short sessions in Tillamook that people are welcome to tag along for. DucPac Memorial Day ADV Ride - 14 May 2024

Memorial Day Ride is finally upon us! Please see the details below to help you get setup, geared up and stoked for the long weekend.

RSVP Required via email to ducatipacifica@gmail.com

Please do not show up last minute without notifying any ride leaders or RSVP’ing.

Waiver – Must be reviewed and signed in person on the first day of the event.

Start – 24rd – 9am – Mosko Moto/White Salmon to Grande Ronde

25th – Grande Ronde to Baker City

26th – Baker City to Priest Hole

End - 27th – Priest Hole to White Salmon

Tracks will be shared with the group a few days ahead of take-off. We’ll cover around 1,200 miles of tarmac, dirt, gravel, hikes, swims, etc. Everyone will ride at their own pace, group size will be large most likely and naturally the group will splinter, this is why we strongly recommend you bring a navigation device and know how to use it. We will have a start and end point to each day, paces will be different throughout the day allowing people to rip or take it easy as they please. We will camp together each night and start the day with a pre-ride meeting to discuss each days adventures and shenanigans.

Requirements:

Rider -

- Ability to ride 350+ miles per day on tarmac

- Ability to ride confidently on gravel/dirt/track/etc

- Ability to ride 100+ miles per day on dirt/gravel/track/etc

- Able to lift your bike up in case of a fall

- Physically fit to ride and perform in warmer climate

- Mentally prepared for a multi day trip

- Good attitude and mental state

Bike –

- Serviced and good to go

- Adequate tires for a multi day off road trip

- No leaks, squeaks, squirts, hisses, etc or other issues

- DON’T SHOW UP WITH A BROKEN BIKE!

Gear –

- Adequate moto gear for both road and trail

- Adequate camping/cooking/sleeping gear

- Tool roll for YOUR bike, know how to use it

- Communication – Cardo, Sena, HAM

- First Aid – know how to use it

- Navigation device and App – tracks preloaded, know how to use it

- CHARGING CABLES FOR ALL YOUR DEVICES

GROUP BUY!!! - 7 May 2024

Our super rad board was able to connect with the Mosko Moto crew get a group discount on their gear.

They have been generous in extending a 15% discount to our group members on anything in their shop as a group purchase. All will be delivered to Portland and distributed when they arrive.

If you’re in the market for new luggage or gear then we’d highly recommend you check these guys out if you’re not familiar. A few of us have been running their gear for years and are happy to answer questions on quality and setup.

Mosko Moto has a showroom in White Salmon where everything (almost) is displayed if you want to check things out in person first.

Ride Etiquette - 24 Apr 2024

The DucPac board prides itself on making this group an inclusive, fun and safe environment for riders of all types and experiences. Lots of effort is put into making sure that everyone is there to connect and enjoy what we all love which is motorcycling (Of the Ducati flavor of course 🙂).

There was an incident on the last 2nd Sunday ride where a rider was a bit aggressive in their riding style and ultimately posed a danger to the group’s safety. The rider recognized their actions and removed themselves from the ride and later reached out to the board and apologized for their actions. The board did take action towards the rider and steps were taken with the individual to mediate future incidents.

We PLEASE ask that you bring your best self and leave any emotions or anxieties at home. We set these rides up to unplug from the everyday and come together as a group with similar interests. If you’re having a bad day, this isn’t where you take it out, this is where you come chill and lean on your community. Attitude and headspace are two of the most important aspects of riding and we ask that you all practice mindfulness when it comes to group events so that everyone can enjoy and take part safely.

Board meeting - 04 Apr 2024

Meeting of the board yesterday. We went over a lot of club things, talked about upcoming events, merch, AND got approval to go live with the website today.

01 Apr 2024 - Not an April Fools Joke

Spent a bunch of time working on the new website. We’re using a bunch of free or mostly free tools to cobble this all together in the early stages. For instance, this is just a google doc rendered into the site with an <iframe>, same with the new calendar (obviously). I started on this work with the intention of just updating the landing page to have more than just a couple links to our socials and ended up refreshing (poorly) my HTML and CSS skills, I even tossed in some short java script despite my best intentions to keep this a 3/10ths effort.

There’s probably still a lot of optimizations that can be done, and anyone with professional web-dev skills can probably critique the hell out of it but I think it’s at a place that it can actually be published. There’s still a bunch of fine-tuning of content to be done but I like where it’s headed.

That’s it for this update for now I think.
