Mohamad Hamad is a 24 year old Lebanese-American activist, former Penn State student, and current prisoner who has spent the last year in federal prison awaiting trial for bogus charges of damaging (Zionist) property and conspiracy against the united states. Mohamad is the target of one of the most severe cases of state repression the Palestine movement in the united states has seen since 2023. Mohamad has neither been convicted of a crime, nor had a trial date set. In spite of it all, Mohamad holds his head high behind bars, with an unbreakable love for our people and our collective liberation.

In November 2024, Mohamad and a Jewish anti-zionist activist were arrested for allegedly graffiting slogans such as “Jews 4 Palestine” on 2 Zionist buildings in Pittsburgh. He spent the following 6 months on house arrest, during which time even his parole officer testified his behavior was exemplary. In a heinous attempt to justify the obscene amounts of taxpayer dollars spent surveilling and harassing him, his family, and his friends, in April 2025 another violent raid was carried out on his family home accompanied by an indictment on new trumped-up felony charges of conspiracy to use “unregistered explosive devices” on July 4th.

Mohamad has already lost two years of his life to the state’s Islamophobic and Anti-Arab campaign against him, and he could face decades in prison if convicted. We refuse to stand idly by while our sibling languishes in prison. He needs a committed lawyer, financial support for his family who have lost their primary provider, and political support and pressure to give his case a fighting chance.

Below are a few examples of how to advance the campaign to Free Mohamad Hamad! Be creative and connect Mohamad’s case to others targeted with state repression, such as Muhammad Ali and Cole Florkewicz, Jakhi McCray, Casey Goonan, Shukri Abu Baker and Ghassan Elashi, or others targeted for their support of the Palestinian liberation struggle and other interconnected struggles.

  1. Mohamad’s case has thus far relied on public defenders overburdened by the demands of a system designed to fail poor and working class people. They have not filed a single pre-trial motion, and he is languishing in prison on bogus charges because fighting a federal case of this caliber requires money!
  2. We need to raise $75,000 immediately in order to retain a lawyer experienced in fighting cases of political repression, and we need even more in order to support his family who relied on him financially prior to his kidnapping – his father has a disability, his mother does not speak much English, and his younger siblings are doing their best to provide with Mohamad imprisoned.
  3. Some fundraising ideas include: hosting benefit concerts, film screenings, dinner parties, 5ks, or even creative skills-based trades such as a comrade’s oil change fundraiser for another prisoner!

  1. Write a Letter / Host a Letter Writing Event for Mohamad !
  1. Writing letters is integral to sustaining our relationships with people targeted by state repression and to break through the isolation that the state seeks to impose on them.   2. Reminder: all mail to prisoners is surveilled by the state and can be used as evidence gainst Mohamad. Instead of writing about his case, try talking about your life, sharing about books/movies/shows that you’re watching, about news/current events, and especially about cars, Lebanon, and other things Mo loves!
