NEWSLETTER 13                                                                        Monday 25th March 2019

Dear families

What a busy couple of weeks!  We had a FANTASTIC time during STEM week and all the children particularly enjoyed our visit from Al Sylvester - a real polar explorer.  He was very impressed by the children’s incredible questions and impeccable behaviour.  Thank you also for your support with Super STEM day.  It was really was an exciting day, expertly organised by the PTA - thank you again to them.

We also enjoyed a Disability Awareness visit, loved wearing our red noses for Comic Relief and all our fantastic socks for Lots of Socks Downs Syndrome Awareness day.  This week, we have tennis taster sessions, a trip to UTC for year 5, Wear a Hat Day (Friday 29th March) and the disco/pyjama party to look forward to!

CONGRATULATIONS to our football and netball teams who have been busy representing the school in many matches this term.  We are always proud of how well you represent our school - thank you.

May I also take this opportunity to congratulate Simon Bowell for being elected to join our Governing Board as a parent governor.

Best wishes

Mrs Lewis

DfE Advice in case of no deal Brexit

As we have many European families at Hagbourne we wanted to make sure you were aware of the following information:  https://www.gov.uk/staying-uk-eu-citizen

Previous Reminders (a space for prior notices for easy access!)

Uniform

We have noticed that a number of children are not wearing the correct uniform.  Please click here to visit the link on school website about school uniform.  Please note though that all children should be wearing black school shoes (not trainers), polo shirts should only be worn by children in Reception and ties are compulsory from year 2 (they are optional in year 1).  We are also finding that lots of uniform and PE kit is unnamed - please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.  Please also make sure your children attend school with warm coats, hats and gloves.

Reading Expectations

Please continue to read regularly with your children and record their reading in their reading record or homework diary.  We have now set up a new Reading Bingo for this term and shared it with the children.  Please click below to see a copy.

Years 1 and 2

Years 3 and 4

Years 5 and 6

Medical Updates

If there have been any changes or updates to your child’s medical needs, including medications and allergies, please ensure that you inform the school and fill out the relevant forms.  If your child has an inhaler or epipen in school please check the medication is in date!

Please also remember we are a nut and sesame seed free school, can we ask that you do not send your children in with any nut product - this includes Nutella and Peanut butter.

RM Unify

Remember all children have a log in to RM Unify (which can be found in their reading record or homework diary).  Please use these websites to support your child’s learning at home.  RM Unify can be accessed via the Pupil Area on the school website or via the following link https://hagbourneschool.rmunify.com/.  Children in Key Stage 2 now also have access to Times Tables Rockstars to support them with learning their times tables.

Car Park

Please could we ask that only Blue Badge holders park in the disabled spaces in the village hall.  Please also take care not to block these spaces in.  We do have families in our own school who need to use these spaces and they may also be needed by Blue Badge holders from the wider community.  If this continues to be an issue, we will ask the local PCSOs to monitor the situation.

Lunch Menu

Please see here for next terms menu, remember to log onto Live Kitchen and select school lunches.
