POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Event Director is responsible for the overall production of League events, directing the event weekend itself and orchestrating much of the pre-event planning and post event follow-up to ensure that the event is successful. The Event Director is the official League contact for coaches at the event, keeping them notified on any updates. The Event Director is involved in any scoring petition decisions and/or other race day decisions governed by the rulebook. He or she reports to the League Director and collaborates closely with the other key event management staff in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee the overall production of each race
- Know and understand all logistics and relationships involved in each race
- Event staff management preceding, during, and following event weekends
- Permit management - ensure that all permist are secured by March 30 of each year
- Manage and maintain a high level of safety among all attendees using best practices
- Lead development and distribution of weekend schedule
- Ensure that basic event information is updated and accurate on league website by July 1 each year
- Ensure staff success, by providing support to all key crew members
- Hold and understand insurance, risk management, EMS and other important documents
- Coordinate with key staff on Race Production Checklist (RPC)
- Coordinate and run pre-event meetings with coaches
Potential Responsibilities - depending on the staff team on event weekend the RD may or may not:
- Manage pre-race staging and call-ups
- Conduct pre-race announcements and start all races
- Conduct course inspection
- Manage and/or conduct awards ceremony

COMMITMENT
- Available to attend event weekends to coincide with the organizational needs of the weekend, which can range from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening based on the event size and scope.
- Available to run planning meetings during the weeks preceding the season and individual events - primarily mid to late Aug through late Oct, starting in June
- Lead organization and secure permits, vendors, event infrastructure in off season
- Be part of the team that collaborates to plan future events during the off season (1x monthly on ave)
- Ideal commitment is 3+ seasons
COMPENSATION
- Stipend of $100/event day is offered for full commitment as detailed above
- Based on commitment to year round engagement, additional compensation may be available
- Breakfasts and lunches during event weekend are provided by the league for on-site staff
- Remaining food and lodging coverage will vary based on staff member arrangements
- Camping is free for staff, when available, and usually will include family style meals on site
