Three Rivers Desk and Derrick Club Scholarship

The mission of the Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs (ADDC) is to promote the education and professional development of individuals employed in or affiliated with the petroleum, energy, or allied industries.

Students planning to pursue a degree in an energy-related program from a College or University, or those enrolled in a Trade or Vocational degree program at an accredited Western PA school, may apply to receive one of two $1000 scholarships.  

Application submission requires a completed application, 500 word essay, list of activities, and letter of recommendation.

Applications are available in the Counseling Department or Naviance.

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must: A) Be a current high school student who will graduate during the 2023-2024 year. B) Be a U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolees - based on the guidelines utilized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Western Pennsylvania Golf Association Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is for students that have been employed at Member Clubs of the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association for at least two golf seasons. This scholarship is one year tuition assistance, renewable for up to 4 years or until graduation, whichever is shorter. Students MUST maintain a 2.8 GPA to continue receiving the scholarship.

The Hagan Scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters, workshops to learn important life skills not typically covered in the college curriculum, funds to purchase college essentials, an HSF Schwab Brokerage Account to manage, funds to study and travel abroad, and the opportunity to extend the Hagan Scholarship to obtain a graduate or professional degree.

Business, Marketing, and Technology Scholarship

The Business, Marketing & Technology Scholarship will award up to $7500 per year along with a paid internship to Western Pennsylvania students.

Purpose: The Business, Marketing & Technology Scholarship is dedicated to providing incoming and current college students the opportunity to gain valuable, real-life experience across a number of Trib Total Media departments to better prepare them for the ‘world of work.’

Award Components: Each year, Trib Total Media, 535media and PrintSource will select one Western Pennsylvania student to receive up to $30,000 in scholarship funds awarded in annual installments of up to $7,500 each. The recipient also will receive a summer internship at Trib Total Media each year and, upon graduation, an offer for full-time employment.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be entering or enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university with a major in business, marketing, computer science, information technology or similar and remain in the approved course of study through graduation.

Primary residence must be in the Pittsburgh region, including, but not limited to Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Westmoreland or Washington counties.

Must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Must complete a 10 week internship at Trib Total Media each year of the program.

Application Process:

Applicants must submit the following:

A letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Selection Committee stating intent to apply for the scholarship

A completed application

A copy of acceptance letter to, or proof of current enrollment in, an accredited 4 year college or university.

The student’s most recent transcript showing a cumulative grade point average

Three letters of recommendation (no family members, please)

Three – five writing samples, work samples or portfolio items representative of the student’s ability and/or coursework.

All applicants must:

Participate in a personal interview with the selection committee.

Complete a writing, spelling and general knowledge exam.

Special Provisions: Scholarship funds will be issued directly to the recipient’s campus and may not be used to pay back loans of any kind.

Deadline for applications is January 7, 2024. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered. No emailed or incomplete applications will be considered.

Coolidge Scholarship

The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, four year merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States.  Open exclusively to students in the 11th grade.

PACAC Scholarship

The PACAC Scholarships are each a one-year non-renewable scholarship for high school seniors graduating from PACAC member high schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This scholarship is intended to support a student's goal of continuing his or her education.

Multiple scholarships will be awarded in May 2024.  The top recipient will receive the $1,500 Scholarship in memory of one of our PACAC founding fathers, Benjamin James.  The other three recipients will receive a $1,000 Scholarship.

High school seniors will be selected based on:

Academic performance in a college prep curriculum

Financial need

Commitment to cultural and intellectual diversity

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the end of the first semester of senior year.

South Hills College Club Scholarship

The South Hills College Club announces the 2024 South Hills College Club Scholarship Award Program. Under this program, at least one $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a female high school senior. South Hills College Club was formed in 1923 by a small group of college educated women from the South Hills. They met with the purpose of self-enrichment, fostering friendships, giving back to their communities, and promoting education for other women. The scholarship will be awarded in May 2024. Applications must be received by the South Hills College Club no later than February 9, 2024. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please pick up an application in the main office.

Point Park University

For High School Juniors and Seniors who visit the Downtown Campus from now until February 15, 2024. The Point Park University Visit Scholarship will be awarded to eligible students who complete their visit and subsequently enroll as full-time undergraduate students.The scholarship is valued at $4,000. The National Pan-Hellenic Scholarship (NPHC)

NPHC is proud to offer this scholarship to support the academic endeavors of deserving individuals residing in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties.

Berkshire Trade School and College Scholarship

Seeking three High School Seniors who intend to become full-time students at a college, university, or trade school for the Fall of 2024.  Must reside within our sales force footprint; 16 counties in Western PA and 15 counties in Eastern Ohio and have maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA.  Lastly, we are looking for applicants who mirror some of the qualities of our Berkshire Hathaway Home Services team in terms of leadership, volunteerism, character, and an overall positive attitude towards life.  Please see the Counseling Office for a copy of the scholarship application.

First Commonwealth Bank Scholarship Fund

A pool of $35,000 will be made available in a one-time gift of $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors attending a college or university.  Students must have a 3.0 GPA or 85% average and reside in one of the following counties in PA:  Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Somerset, Union, Washington, and Westmoreland.  Applicants must complete an application and an essay (500 words or less) detailing how they made a difference in their community and how that involvement impacted their community and life. Winners will be contacted via e-mail and postal mail by April 22, 2024.

National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship

The Pittsburgh Chapter of the NIASHF will award four individual scholarships to deserving graduating student athletes ($1,000/yr for four years).  Criteria for selection: High academic achievement, financial need, athletic ability at the varsity level and anticipated June 2024 graduation. The Pennsylvania Society’s Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award

The Pennsylvania Society's Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award invites Pennsylvania public school juniors to submit an original essay discussing the modern-day relevance of a Benjamin Franklin quote.

We are pleased to announce that the 2024 quote is:

McGrady Family Fund Scholarship (Elk County Community Foundation)

You must be a graduating senior from one of the high schools listed below, or a student in the Paramedic Program at the Center for Emergency Medicine. Students should be active in school and community activities, demonstrate need and show academic merit.

BASH (The Black Assoc. Of South Hills for Women)

BASH, through community participation in its fundraisers and corporate donations, awards scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors of African American descent, both female and male within the target areas of the South Hills and Washington County that are pursuing higher education at an accredited University, College, Community College, technical or trade school. BASH recognizes local high school graduates to inspire and motivate them toward higher education.

The Common Good Foundation Scholarship

The South West Regional Chamber of Commerce in partnership with The Common Good Foundation is proud to be able to offer these scholarships in Western Pennsylvania!

Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA Scholarship Program

Scholarships are offered for graduating high school seniors who have epilepsy/seizure disorder. Awards are based on the quality of the student's application determined through a competitive scoring system that balances need with achievement. The Lisa Simpson Memorial Scholarship

The Lisa Simpson Memorial Scholarship was established by the friends of Lisa Simpson, as a tribute to the beloved and long-time St. Valentine Preschool teacher.   A $4,000 scholarship will be awarded in Mrs. Simpson's name to promote her legacy of growing in compassion, curiosity, honesty, and spirituality.  Applicants must be an alumnus of the St. Valentine Program and plan to attend a 4-year accredited college/university in the fall of 2023.

Jennifer A. Morgan Scholarship

The Jennifer A. Morgan Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to Bethel Park and Baldwin graduating seniors seeking to pursue a degree in Nursing or other health-related professions. This award is being offered to  two graduating senior students that MUST have attended Abraham Lincoln Elementary School for at least two years. Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Scholarship (Juniors only)

Freddie H. Fu, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at UPMC Sports Medicine, created this scholarship program to increase student interest in sports medicine careers.

**The student MUST be a junior who will enter high school as a senior in the fall of 2024. **

We award one scholarship of two thousand dollars ($2,000). In return the recipient interns for six weeks (30-40 hours per week on an agreed-upon starting date) during the summer at the UPMC Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Center and the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex . The selected intern will have the opportunity to observe patient evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation by physical therapists and athletic trainers, observe clients in the Sports Performance Department, and observe surgery with UPMC orthopedic surgeons. The recipient will also have responsibilities comparable to those of a Physical Therapy Aide.  To apply for the Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Scholarship program, you must:

Ken Waldie Memorial Scholarship

The Ken Waldie Memorial Fund, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of one $16,000 scholarship to a Bethel Park High School senior student, entering as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

This scholarship was established in honor of Ken Waldie, a Bethel Park graduate who was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston on September 11th 2001.  It is intended for a graduating senior who participated in varsity sports planning on furthering his/her education.

The applicant must:

  1. Be a member of the current Senior Class of Bethel Park High School                                          
  1. Score 900 or above on the S.A.T. (Scholastic Aptitude Test), or 22 on the A.C.T. (American College Testing) composite. **If attending a test-optional or test-flexible university or college, the applicant must include any school requirements, i.e. supplemental essay or personal statement
  1. Have maintained a cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.00 or above through mid-year of his/her senior year.
  1. Had completed in a varsity sport and been awarded at least (1) varsity letter award.

Bethel Park Lions George Meyer Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually in memory of the late George Meyer, a highly respected Lions Club member, Bethel Park High School teacher, Student Government sponsor, and community leader who inspired many students.  A scholarship grant of $2,500 will be awarded for the successful applicant's first year of college/university or post high school training in a degree program.  Eligibility is restricted to students in the 2024 graduating class of BPHS who have resided in BPSD for at least 2 years. This scholarship is based on anonymity and must be picked up in the Counseling Office.

Applicants must request at least two references to complete the Reference Forms which are to be mailed separately from the application. The grant recipient will be selected by a committee composed of Bethel Park Lions Club members. Use of the grant is limited to expenses related to post high school education (tuition, books, board). Upon request, copies of receipts must be made available to the Bethel Park Lions Club. To receive the grant, the scholarship recipient selected must attend the Bethel Park High School Honors Recognition Program in May/June 2024 (if one is scheduled), and a June 2024 meeting of the Bethel Park Lions Club.

Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is offered to students of Italian heritage who demonstrate the financial need to pursue higher education, with annual scholarship funds. A Matching Scholarship Fund Program has been established to increase the scholarship amount to the awardees.  The colleges and universities include: Chatham University, Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh, Seton Hill University, Carnegie Mellon University, Robert Morris University, St. Francis of Loretto, LaRoche College, Saint Vincent College, Washington and Jefferson College, and Point Park University.  The scholarship is valued at $16,000 paid in $4,000 increments annually, and is contingent on the recipient maintaining academic excellence at the college or university of their choice.

Student-View Scholarship Program

Student Insights was founded on the simple principle of providing affordable, effective market research for higher education. The Rotary Club of Upper St. Clair - Bethel Park (Breakfast) will present one “Service Above Self”  award in the amount of $1,000 to an outstanding Bethel Park High School senior who most exemplifies  the Rotary International motto of “Service Above Self”. This award recognizes those students who have displayed  exemplary humanitarian service with a focus on active involvement in helping others.  Rotary International is one of the largest service organizations in the world. Their mission is to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.”

This award applies to all interested students enrolled in a post-secondary school, and  is based on the following criteria:

PMHF (Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation Community Service Scholarship)

PMHF was established to support PMHFOS and its commitment to enriching the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and behavioral health needs.  PMHF creates awareness of and provides additional financial resources for the quality programs of PMHFOS, while promoting choice and independence.  PMHF upholds the contention that all people have the right to lead full, productive, and independent lives.

Through our scholarship program, we hope to encourage local students to pursue a post-secondary education as well as take a renewed look into their community and to find unique opportunities to become a part of its furtherance.  We want our youth to recognize that community service can provide opportunities to acquire valuable life skills and knowledge as well as provide a service to those who need it most.  We want to show students that their actions can have a lasting and a positive impact on our society at large.  Community service can teach compassion and acceptance; it can foster cultures of inclusion and advocacy; it can build positive, lifelong relationships that can ultimately strengthen our communities.  We want our next generation of leaders to experience that.

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans on attending a post-high school educational institution, including a 2 or 4-year college or university or vocational, technical, or trade school in the US.  Student must currently reside or have established plans to reside in one of the following counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Westmoreland or Washington County, must have at least one parent or grandparent of Hispanic ancestry, a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, enroll as a full time student, and be involved in the community.

The purpose of this award is to promote, improve, and encourage the profession and practice of land surveying in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by providing financial assistance to those persons intending to pursue an education in surveying with the ultimate goal of becoming a practicing Professional Land Surveyor. Antonio J. Ripepi, M.D. Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award

The family of Dr. Tony Ripepi is proud to announce The Antonio J. Ripepi, M.D. Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award. Established in 2024, this $1000 scholarship recognizes and rewards a Bethel Park High School Senior student who demonstrates academic excellence, athletic perseverance, and sportsmanship. The scholarship was created to continue the legacy of Dr. Tony Ripepi, who practiced medicine and General Surgery in the South Hills for more than 20 years.

Dr. Ripepi was a pillar of the Bethel Park Community and believed that character is forged through a dedication to hard work and excellence. The selected awardee will have demonstrated a commitment to strong performance in their academic and athletic endeavors during their high school career.

The American Legion 760 (In Memory of Phil Ward)

The American Legion Post 760 of Bethel Park has established this scholarship fund to provide financial support to a Bethel Park High School graduating senior.  Criteria for this scholarship is that the student must have a parent or guardian, grandparent, or sibling who has served or is currently serving in the Armed Forces.  

Students must submit a 2-page double spaced essay on what the 26th amendment to the United States Constitution means.

Ben Franklin PTO Award for Higher Education Scholarship

Ben Franklin PTO will give two awards in the amount of $500.00 for the first year of post high school education. The award money will be paid directly to the recipient. Use of the award is limited to expenses directly related to the first year of post high school education. Upon request, copies of receipts from the use of the award must be made available to the Ben Franklin PTO.  

In addition to the completed application, the applicant must answer the following question (total of 300-500 words typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet of paper):

Bethel Park Volunteer Scholarship

The Bethel Park Community Foundation in partnership with BPTV, is pleased to announce the Bethel park Volunteer Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to recognize students who exhibit strong volunteer spirit and contribute their time to worthwhile projects benefiting the Bethel park community. One $1,000 award or two $500 awards are available each year to a BPHS senior or graduate who is entering or attending a secondary educational institution.

Instructions:  Completed Bethel Park Volunteer Scholarship application form. Must have volunteered for a combined 200 hours over the past 4 years with organizations, facilities or events directly related to Bethel Park.

Separate sheet outlining community service activities performed with specific dates, hours, and organizations involved.

Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher or school administrator; one from a community leader, volunteer work supervisor, minister, etc. An optional third letter of recommendation will also be accepted.

250 – 500 word essay describing how your community service has contributed to you as a person and benefited the Bethel Park community.

Bethel Woman’s Club Scholarship

The Bethel Park Woman's Club is proud to announce its scholarship program. This scholarship is awarded annually to a Senior Male/Female Bethel Park High School Student. The Scholarship will be awarded to a member of the senior class who is a resident of Bethel Park. Acceptance by an accredited school, financial need and scholastic ability are the criteria upon which the Scholarship Committee will make their decision. Applications must be received by April 14th, 2024.

This scholarship MUST be submitted in-person via the BPHS Counselor's Office.

The Big Heart Scholarship

Jonathan Gentile lived his life to the fullest, while supporting his friends and community as much as he could.

Despite having died in a kayaking accident at the age of 37, his kindness and happy-go-lucky demeanor will live on forever through those he has impacted and through this scholarship. The Gentile Family believes that having a big heart is one of the most important things for the world right now. The Big Heart Scholarship will be given to a student based on their character, rather than GPA or athletic involvement, supporting students who put others first and are kind, inclusive, and spread joy.

Cindy Schaude Buckley Memorial

The scholarship is named after and is in memory of, Mrs. Cindy Schaude Buckley, a former kindergarten and first grade Bethel Park teacher, who also served on the Bethel Park Board of School Directors after her retirement from education.

The Cindy Schaude Buckley Memorial Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to a Bethel Park High School graduating senior who plans to pursue a degree in education at an accredited four-year college.

Requirements:

Be a current BPHS Senior student.

Be pursuing post-secondary education in any field at an accredited college, community college, or technical school.

Complete the official Cindy Schaude Buckley Memorial Scholarship application.

Include a letter of recommendation from a teacher or employer AND an official BPHS transcript

John Deans Memorial Scholarship

The John Deans Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002 providing financial assistance to a special education student who embraces the determination, dedication, and courage that Mr. Deans exemplified during his life as a parent, teacher, and coach.

The Judge Arnoni “Leadership in Action” Scholarship

Judge Arnoni teaches students "to be leaders, not followers.”   His Leadership in Action scholarships will be awarded to multiple students in 12th grade who display exceptional leadership skills in school and our communities. Each winner will receive a $500-$1000 scholarship, medal and leadership certificate.

The Jugo-Slav Club Memorial Scholarship is established to honor the past and present members of the Jugo-Slav Club, which provides many activities and funds for the Bethel Park community.

This Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a worthy Bethel Park High School Graduating Senior who wishes to pursue post-secondary education at a University, College, Tech, Trade, or Vocational School.

Lois Johnson Learning and Childcare Center 2023 Scholarship

Lois Johnson Learning and Childcare Center has been a staple in the Bethel Park Community for over 6 decades. We show our appreciation to our community by donating to multiple community organizations and offering scholarships for graduating seniors.

Any high school senior, who meets one of the following criteria, is invited to apply:

• Majoring in Early Childhood Education

• A current employee of Lois Johnson

• A former student of Lois Johnson

Michael J. Furey Memorial Scholarship

The Michael J. Furey Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017, after his untimely death in 2016. The winner of this unique award must possess the following qualities Mr. Furey taught and counseled his students daily: COMPASSION, RESPECT, EMPATHY, INSPIRING, TOLERANCE, ACCOUNTABILITY.

The Furey family in conjunction with the Bethel Park Community Foundation have established this fund for the benefit of one Bethel Park High School Senior who is a Special Education student and will be attending a TRADE or TECHNICAL school after they graduate from high school.

Kramer Family Memorial Scholarship

Bill and Suzanne Kramer established this scholarship in 2018 to provide financial assistance to two Bethel Park graduating seniors who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution.  This award is renewable for one additional year of education.  The assistance is not limited to tuition but can be used for equipment and supplies needed for the student’s education. This scholarship is not need-based so as to not eliminate graduating students who have worked hard during their high school years in academics, school and community activities, volunteer and work experiences and sports.

Kyle Wilson Scholarship Fund

Through our partnership with the Wilson Group, the Kyle B. Wilson Scholarship Fund will award a $2,000 scholarship annually to a graduating senior. This $2,000 scholarship is usually awarded during the school district senior award ceremony, which will be held on May 29th, 2024. The Kyle B. Wilson Scholarship Fund awards (15)  $1,000 scholarships annually outside of the school district partnership; any Bethel Park senior that wasn't selected as the recipient of the $2,000 scholarship would have their application considered as a selection for the $1,000 scholarship.

Scott Beynon Memorial Scholarship

The Scott Beynon Memorial Scholarship was established in 2018 in memory of a long time business owner who was a dear friend and mentor to so many.  For over 35 years, Scott was the owner and operator of Beynon's Service Station on Library Rd.  He was kind, trustworthy, hardworking and a skilled mechanic.  The recipient of the scholarship will be awarded $1000 toward the FIRST YEAR of continuing education in a technical trade school program. The scholarship is renewable for an additional $1000 for the SECOND YEAR of the program as long as the student remains in good standing.

The Sydney Romanus Memorial Scholarship

The Sydney Romanus Memorial Scholarship was established by Sydney's father to provide financial assistance to a Bethel Park High School graduating senior seeking higher education in the field of nursing.  

The scholarship was named after Sydney Marie Romanus, a 2015 graduate of Bethel Park High School.  Sydney also attended Steel Center Vocational Technical School in the Heath Assistant Program.  She passed away suddenly in her first year of college.  Sydney touched many people in her caring and compassionate way.  It was her dream to become a nurse.

Rosemary Gainar Scholarship- William Penn Elementary PTO

William Penn Elementary School PTO is proud to share the 2024 Rosemary Gainar Scholarship. Rosemary Gainar was a beloved Paraprofessional at William Penn, for whom this scholarship is named.

This anonymous scholarship is available for any Bethel Park senior who attended William Penn Elementary for at least two years and provides evidence that he/she has been accepted and will be attending a college, university, or school offering post high school training. The Roy Werner Rotary Scholarship (BP/USC Breakfast Club)

This Scholarship is in memory of Roy Werner, a former Rotarian who greatly valued service to the community. Service comes in many different forms, community, church, school and work all are equally important.

There is no GPA requirement, instead, this scholarship will be awarded based on your service to the community, whether church, school or other. All applicants are required to submit a typed overview of all community service, limited to 2 pages or under. Please include how the scholarship will help you continue your education, as well as your name, phone number, email and your intended plans to further your education.

T.A. Ward Memorial Trade Scholarship (BP/USC Breakfast Club)

This scholarship is in memory of T.A. Ward, a former Rotarian who was an outstanding citizen in our community for many years.  His company was also very influential in the construction industry providing jobs and opportunity for many in the area.

There are no GPA requirements for this award.  The applicant must be planning on continuing their education in the construction industry through a trade school or similar institution.

Patti & Walter Blenko Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in the honor of Walter Blenko who passed away in 2019.  Prior to submitting a scholarship, the student must have applied to an accredited college, university, or conservatory that offers a four-year program in music or performing arts. After reviewing each application, the Scholarship Committee will interview and audition each semi-finalist. The auditions will be held at the end of June. The Rotary Club of BP “Robert Brindley Memorial Community Service Scholarship”

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Bethel Park Robert Brindley Memorial Community Service Scholarship Program for High School Seniors residing in Bethel Park. This program will award three (3) $1,500.00 scholarships chosen by our Scholarship Committee.

The Joey Fabus Memorial Scholarship

In honor of Joey Fabus, the Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Fabus family have chosen to award a scholarship to one of this year's Seniors.

Joey passed away on January 21st, 2015 from an inoperable brain tumor called DIPG. He was only 8 years old but he had a passion for life and always wanted to help others. Joey dreamed of being a policeman one day. He was our hero and one in the heart of so many others. In his honor, we are proud to award this scholarship to a Senior, choosing a path to help others in the field of Law Enforcement, Military Service or First Responder.
