This week I will be sending home the last Scholastic book order for this school year. This is a great opportunity to get reasonably priced books for summer reading. Most students are ready for beginner chapter books. Summer reading is super important to help your child maintain his/her reading skills sharp and avoid struggles at the beginning of 2nd grade.
Friday Field Day - Hot dogs will be provided for the children. Please send chips and a drink (one soda can will be allowed this time only) in your child’s lunch box that day. Each student will also need to bring a small (child size) sand pail (please, no hardware store buckets or large pails) and a beach towel. The Dollar Tree is a good place to find sand pails. Children should wear a t-shirt (no tank tops or spaghetti straps), shorts or pants and tennis shoes (no sandals, flip flops, crocs or water shoes). For precaution, send a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Your child will be out in the sun most of the morning, please apply sunscreen that morning before your child comes to school. Mr. Ortiz will need lots of volunteers. Please contact him directly if you are able to help - email@example.com.
*Super Star of the Week: No one due to testing week

*April 27 - Field trip to Children’s Museum of Stockton

Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep, has a good breakfast, and brings a nutritious morning snack. A rested body “fueled” with appropriate foods equals an alert student! Also, make sure your child uses the bathroom before coming to school. Please have your child at school a few minutes early to avoid any tardies. Tardy students will need to wait in the school office.
