Athletics Director, Teg Cosgriff, completed his service to Derby Public Schools today and is moving on to a new career opportunity.  We appreciate Teg’s contribution to the Athletics Department over the past year and a half and wish him the very best in his future plans.  We wanted to reach out to all of the coaches at DHS and DMS, as well as our district and community partners, to share some information about our transition plan for the Athletics Department so everyone knows what to expect moving forward.

HIRING PLAN

We are working hard to hire a new Athletic Director and hope to appoint a new candidate at the February 16th Board of Education Meeting.  We have a strong applicant pool and will work hard to select a great AD for our community. Below is a snapshot of our hiring timeline:

·         Jan 17 – 31          Post Job

·         Feb 2 – 3              Sort Applications

·         Feb 6                    Round 1 Interviews   5 – 8 PM

·         Feb 9                    Round 2 Interview (If needed) *Jen participates remotely

·         Feb 13-14             Reference Checks

·         Feb 15-17             Meeting w/Superintendent (date/time TBD)

·         Feb 16                   Recommendation for BOE Appointment

COVERAGE ARRANGEMENTS & CONTACTS

Until the position is filled the school administrators at DHS and DMS will be working together to oversee the day-to-day operations of the athletics department.  As part of the hiring process, we anticipate the new AD will need to give 2-4 weeks’ notice in their current position/current district before starting, so we are prepared to “hold the fort down” until mid-March.  Angela Lillemoe, Administrative Assistant at Derby High School will continue to provide assistance with administrative/budgeting responsibilities, and will also help cross-check buses and schedules for competitions.
