Update to Board of Education - February 2023

Academics

• Planned February HQI session along with instructional coaches as part of our Teacher Collective Efficacy work
• Coaches began vetting new K-5 CSDE approved ELA programs - observed lessons from all three programs across multiple grade levels
• Administering MOY Benchmark Assessments in ELA and Math -  ELA assessments continue into first two weeks of February
• Attending session with Isobel Stevenson with instructional coaches and fellow principals and Dr. Rafferty to refine our coaching model and build consistency in teacher support and coaching through HQI across the District

Human Capital

• Attend strategy meetings with support staff teams        
• Coordinated Staff Professional Development and monthly committee meetings
• Began Harvard Teachers Mentoring Teachers course with 8 other Irving staff members including in-person study groups on Thursdays after school
• Continue teacher observations as part of the TEVAL process
• Hiring Climate Specialist and Paraeducators due to recent resignations

Operations

• Participated in Admin Council and BOE meetings
• Met with Mr. Hoffman to update minor building improvements and check in on projects
• Met with DEA Building Representatives for Monthly Update
• Held monthly drill (Code Red) and debriefed with Safety Committee
• Participated in ARP ESSERS and other grant review meeting
• Completed and submitted TItle IV for FY 23 - approved by CSDE

Culture/Climate

• PBIS Committee planned the quarterly school-wide PBIS reward
• Celebrated VIPs and other school awards during monthly community meeting
• Poetry In Motion performed their History of Hip-Hop show for K-5
• Celebrated the 80th and 90th Days of school with spirit days
• Held Attendance Team meeting with new incentive plan for February to improve student attendance
• Interactive Theater Group presented an Anti-bullying show for Gr. 3-5 in collaboration with John Saccu
