Code Winter Workshop Instructor - Job Description

Description of Organization

Geering Up UBC Engineering & Science for Kids is a non-profit, student-run organization dedicated to promoting science, engineering and technology (STEM) to the children and youth of British Columbia through fun, innovative, and hands-on experiments and projects. Geering Up also strives to reach all children and youth, regardless of gender, ethnicity, culture, or socio-economic status. Over the past 20 years, we have reached over 90,000 youth.

Our workshops are 1 to 1.5 hour Science and Engineering lessons delivered in classrooms. Each workshop includes hands-on learning activities, demonstrations, and a project for students to take home. Schools book our workshops to enrich the curriculum in their classroom and to have a university student mentor speak with their class. Instructors work in teams of two to deliver workshops.

CanCode Workshops Instructors would lead up to three Computer Science workshops a day throughout February to April. Instructors get the opportunity to develop their communication, presentation, and project management skills.

More information about Geering Up is available here.
