1. Seattle Seahawks (10-6) *via Chicago Bears
Needs: QB, OL, TE
In a blockbuster off-season trade the Seahawks dealt QB Russell Wilson and his enormous contact to the Chicago Bears for the #1 pick in this season’s draft, amongst some other chips they received. The Seahawks clearly have a QB in mind here and the best QB in the draft, is clearly Chandler Trattou. I’d be very surprised if they went somewhere else with the #1 overall pick.
Pick: QB: Chandler Trattou, Wisconsin
2. Minnesota Vikings (4-12) *via New England Patriots
Needs: QB, DE, OL
The Vikings traded up from the 4th pick in the draft with the Patriots to get here at #2 in hopes of landing Trattou. However the Seahawks made the trade after them to grab #1 overall, so it looks like the Vikes are not going to get their main QB. It’s a good thing this draft is loaded with QB talent, the next best QB in the draft is Denton LaFell out of Florida. He has a strong arm, and can start right away.
Pick: QB: Denton LaFell, Florida
3. Denver Broncos (3-13)
Needs: OL, LB, HB
The Broncos will not be going QB here, at least I don’t think so this early. Trubisky should be given another shot. They are a little thin at offensive line, but this draft isn’t very offensive line heavy. The could really use a linebacker here to solidify that already very good defense. Sometimes it’s better to fortify than to try and fill holes. I expect the Broncos to grab the best linebacker in the draft here in LeVeon McCardell.
Pick: LOLB: LeVeon McCardell, Wisconsin
4. New England Patriots (2-14) *via Minnesota Vikings
Needs: WR, LB, S
The Patriots traded back out of the #2 spot since they aren’t looking for QB, and that was a very good move by Coach Hova. The Patriots have some holes to fill, and it starts at Wide Receiver. Could they go with Latteral Ashley here? Yes. Will they? I don’t think so. They need to fix that secondary desperately, so i think they will go with the best cornerback available and that is Amari Hairston out of Oklahoma.
Pick: CB: Amari Hairston, Oklahoma
5. Los Angeles Rams (5-11)
Needs: OL, QB, LB
The Rams have a very good squad, solid all around the team. They draft very well too, grabbing Gilbert Fudge and Aaryn Whitner at LB who have both made great impacts. They are targeting a QB in free-agency, and if they get him they will go elsewhere in the draft, if they don’t they will go QB here it looks like. Even though they have needs elsewhere, the best player in this draft is DE Marcus Harvey out of Georgia, pair him with Aaron Donald and you have something special.
Pick: LE: Marcus Harvey, Georgia
6. Miami Dolphins (5-11)
Needs: OL, WR, LB
The Dolphins have some holes all over the place so it’s kind of tough to predict where they will go here. This being the last season, you really want someone who’s going to make an immediate impact from jump. They definitely have some glaring holes at offensive line and defensive line for that matter, but they really are lacking a weapon they can go to. That can be filled here with WR Latteral Ashley out of Nebraska.
Pick: WR: Latteral Ashley, Nebraska
7. Indianapolis Colts (5-11)
Needs: OL, DL, TE
The frustration is definitely setting in for Coach Shawty who is having some trouble building this team. They are mediocre and average at a lot of positions and it’s going to be tough to upgrade that offensive line in this draft, so if i were the Colts i would go with the best available player that will make an impact right away. That player that should be available here is defensive end Garrett Roos out of Michigan State who can start from week 1 on.
Pick: RE: Garrett Roos, Michigan State
8. Baltimore Ravens (5-11)
Needs: DE, LB, S
Hicks had a rough season 49 with most of his losses coming from his absence. This team is pretty solid so he will be getting a nice pick to reload and come back strong in Season 50. The Ravens have some holes on the defensive side of the ball, mainly in the edge rushing department. How do you fix that? Grab the best edge rusher available, and that is Linebacker Allen Wagner out of USC.
Pick: LB: Allen Wagner, USC
9. Oakland Raiders (6-10)
Needs: OL, WR, S
The Raiders could upgrade their offensive line here. They could also look to grab a tight end, or wide receiver to give Spurlock some weapons. However, it will be very hard to pass up the man that will be on the board here at #8 and that man is free safety Kashawn Manningham. If he’s still here, the Raiders have to grab him and start him right away.
Pick: FS: Kashawn Manningham, Alabama
10. Carolina Panthers (6-10)
Needs: TE, LB, CB
The Panthers could go in a few different areas here. They really need secondary help, they also need a linebacker because outside of Kuechly they are very weak. They also never replaced Greg Olsen at TE and this is the draft that they could do that. Tight end Lawrence Leisle has a serious skill set, one that you shouldn't pass up if you really need a TE.
Pick: TE: Lawrence Leisle, Pittsburgh
11. Washington Redskins (6-10)
Needs: LB, CB, OL
The Skins are under a new coach once again entering this season and they have some work to do. I could see the Redskins grabbing a linebacker here if the big two are available, or they could go and help that secondary. I really like Terrell Christian out of Pittsburgh, because i think Hairston will already be off the board. Terrell is the best player on the board right here.
Pick: CB: Terrell Christian, Pittsburgh
12. Tennessee Titans (6-10)
Needs: OL, DL, LB
The Titans are also under a new coach, a familiar one who took over towards the end of last season. WickedMe is in for a treat! This team needs a lot of help. The offensive line is in shambles, but I think they can fix that later in the draft. The defensive line also needs help, but i really think they should go after safety Vincent Collins here, he should be on the board and he’s a top 7 talent entering the draft.
Pick: SS: Vincent Collins, Clemson
13. San Francisco 49ers (6-10)
Needs: LB, HB, WR
Halfback, Wide Receiver, Linebacker, Safety and Cornerback are positions the 49ers really need to look at here. The best player and the most need they have is at halfback. The best back coming into this draft is Khalid Peck out of Ole Miss. After him, it really drops off so they could either wait it out or grab him right here, and that’s what i think they will do.
Pick: HB: Khalid Peck, Ole Miss
14. Buffalo Bills (6-10)
Needs: DL, OL, LB
The Buffalo Bills have done a great job in the off-season of upgrading their team. They really do not have many holes and we could see a surprise season out of Coach Trig who has been underwhelming to say the least. I think their biggest issue is their defensive line and to sure that up is to start in the middle. The best defensive tackle in the draft is Howard Gardner out of Utah.
Pick: DT: Howard Gardner, Utah
15. Dallas Cowboys (7-9)
Needs: LB, QB, OL
Dallas arguably has the most talented roster from top to bottom in the MOF, and that’s the truth. They just lost LB Sean Lee to retirement, so naturally I think Coach Texmexgalvan should look to replace him and just re-load and get ready for a great season. I expect the top LB’s to be gone by now, so if that's the case Rob Page out of Duke will be the answer.
Pick: ROLB: Rob Page, Duke
16. Philadelphia Eagles (7-9)
Needs: S, TE, LB
The Eagles and Coach Alex are a wild-card. They could surprise you and go in a completely different direction but they have a very good roster as well. They absolutely 100% need to upgrade their safety position and for them, they are in luck. At least 4 safeties we have going in the first round, and two in the top 10. If the top two are gone, I expect them to grab Detchauz Clayborn out of Georgia and hopefully Alex doesn’t go and try to edit the player and change his name.
Pick: FS: Detchauz Clayborn, Georgia
17. Cincinnati Bengals (7-9)
Needs: QB, LB, WR
The rumors were flying about the Bengals trying to trade up so they can nab one of the top quarterbacks but luckily for them, I think they might still be able to grab a blue chip QB at #17 since the teams before them should pass on them. I expect Trattou and LaFell to be off the board here but Graham McHugh out of Oregon should still be here and that’s a really great pick here.
Pick: QB: Graham McHugh, Oregon
18. Kansas City Chiefs (8-8)
Needs: OL, LB, CB
The Chiefs have some glaring holes at offensive line. They are pretty decent everywhere else, no real urgent needs. So far during my mock draft, we haven’t seen any offensive lineman go yet. That would be something else if Bryan Cloherty fell into Coach DoubleD’s lap here at #18 and I really think there’s a great shot of that happening.
Pick: RT: Bryan Cloherty, Texas A&M
19. New Orleans Saints (10-6)
Needs: OL, HB, DL
Coach Q missed the post-season even after finishing 10-6 so you know his team is very good. What is not good is the offensive line. They also traded away David Johnson, so they are in need of a HB as well. I think Q with is two first round picks should work on that offensive line. Right guard Trentn Keltner out of LSU should be here at #19 and he’s a can't miss offensive lineman.
Pick: RG: Trenton Keltner, LSU
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-6)
Needs: CB, OL, LB
The Bucs have a pretty good squad and they do not have many holes to fill. I think they need to upgrade their offensive line in this draft, and their secondary. It looks like there will be some gems in the secondary left here when Jfon is ready to pick at #20. The top two CBs should be off the board, so they should go with Bernard Freeney out of Notre Dame.
Pick: CB: Bernard Freeney, Notre Dame
21. Houston Texans (9-7)
Needs: DE, CB, OL
The Texans were a playoff team last year, picking at #21 is going to be tough to find a blue chip type of player. I think they really want to focus on upgrading that defensive line since they never really replaced J.J. Watt when they traded him a couple seasons ago. I think Nicholas Bookman out of Cincinnati can be that speed rusher that they are looking for to compliment Clowney.
Pick: LE: Nicholas Bookman, Cincinnati
22. New York Giants (10-6)
Coach Commissioner Jeff
Needs: OL, LB, CB
The Giants are rough around the edges in their offensive line department. They’ve been trying to upgrade this line for 5 seasons now and it’s just not working out. Do they dare try again? I think they should grab the best offensive lineman available at this point and that will be LG Lawrence Rollins out of Louisville. I wouldn’t be shocked if Trenton Keltner was still sitting here too.
Pick: LG: Lawrence Rollins, Louisville
23. Atlanta Falcons (11-5)
Needs: QB, LB, OL
BigReg decided to cut Derek Carr in the off-season so it’s obvious where he will be going here. The problem is that the top QBs might be already taken. If the top 3 are already out , as we expect, then Reg is going to have to settle for another blue chip QB. Chandler Henson out of Texas A&M would be a great fit for Reg here, he’s a field general and a top talent.
Pick: QB: Chandler Henson, Texas A&M
24. Jacksonville Jaguars (12-4)
Needs: OL, S, WR
The Jags have a great team, they solved their QB problems last season when they signed Cam Newton, and their cornerbacks are the tops in the league. So what will they do to upgrade their team? How about grabbing one of those top 4 safeties? There should only be 1 left at this point in the draft and that will be strong safety Bryant McMillon out of LSU.
Pick: SS: Bryant McMillon, LSU
25. Seattle Seahawks (10-6)
Needs: QB, OL, TE
Minden strikes again! After taking the best QB in the draft #1 overall it’s time to grab a vertical threat and upgrade that tight end position all in one shot. Marcus Rodgers out of Auburn should still be on the board here and his 40 time was absolutely crazy at 4.58. Rodgers will be a very good fit in Seattle with their new franchise QB.
Pick: TE: Marcus Rodgers, Auburn
26. New York Jets (12-4)
Needs: TE, OL, S
For a team that has been so dominant, they have quite a bit of holes they need to address. First their offensive line. Then Tight End and their secondary. So what do they do first? How about the top player at what is needed here at #26. I really like TE Lawrence Corp out of Georgia, but it’s not a super sexy pick. If I were the Jets though, this is where i would be looking. High possession guy, and a big target for the redzone.
Pick: TE: Lawrence Corp, Georgia
27. Green Bay Packers (12-4)
Needs: LB, WR, G
The Packers are another one of those teams who do not have many issues. They just lost Clay Matthews to retirement, so maybe they could upgrade there? They have a top WR in Davante Adams but i think grabbing a WR here would be a great move. Lewis Kaiser out of Wake Forest should still be on the board here and he’s a nice big target for Rodgers who likes to throw those high balls.
Pick: WR: Lewis Kaiser, Wake Forest
28. Cleveland Browns (12-4)
Needs: LB, C, S
The Browns have some very good players at a lot of positions. They could definitely use an upgrade and some help at LB, and they really need to upgrade their center position. The most important part of the line. I think they should go linebacker here and Walter Todd out of FIU should still be on the board. It’s a steal of a pick and he’s a great speed rusher.
Pick: ROLB: Walter Todd, FIU
29. New Orleans Saints (10-6) *via Arizona Cardinals
Needs: OL, HB, DL
Coach Q nabbed the 29th overall pick by trading Michael Thomas to the Cardinals in the off-season, so what do they do here? I think they look to replace Michael Thomas. Ed Dansby out of UCLA should be here in the late 1st round. Dansby is 6’4 and runs a 4.49 that’s pretty incredible and will be a great weapon for Coach Q.
Pick: WR: Ed Dansby, UCLA
30. Pittsburgh Steelers (13-3)
Needs: OL, DL, S
The Steelers need to upgrade their offensive line, but here at #30 the top guys will be gone so they will have to grab depth later in the draft. I think they could upgrade their defensive line here though with some strong guys still hanging around. Fisher Hills out of Syracuse should fit that bill and help out an already great Steelers squad.
Pick: RE: Fisher Hills, Syracuse
31. Los Angeles Chargers (15-1)
Needs: DE, LB, S
What does the team with the best record from last season need? Not much. They could use some defensive line help, and linebacker as well. The linebackers that are 1st round talent might be gone by now though, so the top player right now to grab in my mind would be DT Jose Fuller out of Cincinnati. He will help the run defense right away.
Pick: DT: Jose Fuller, Cincinnati
32. New England Patriots (2-14) *via Detroit Lions
Needs: WR, LB, S
The Patriots made a move to grab the last pick in the draft and this is where they need to upgrade their receiving corps. There should be a couple guys here that they can grab but i really like DeAndre Hudson out of Washington State. He’s a possession guy and will really hang onto the ball in traffic.
Pick: WR: DeAndre Hudson, Washington State
