Lunch & Learn
Students will have the opportunity to connect with members of our community and learn about different career paths through our Lunch & Learn Program. We will be highlighting the following organizations over the next few weeks:

Participants will be set up outside the cafeteria during all lunch periods (4-7) to answer any of your questions.
Congratulations to theVarsity Game Day Cheer team!
They traveled to Dallas, Texas this past weekend to participate in the National Cheerleaders Association’s National Competition. They finished 4th in the very competitive Game Day medium division.
DCC Instant Decision Day
Dutchess Community College will be visiting on Tuesday, February 4th from 10:59 AM-1:27 PM (periods 5, 6, & 7) in the Maker Space for Instant Decision Day. Work through your application with an admissions representative and be given an instant decision on your acceptance. Pre-registration for the event is available through SCOIR. Make sure to register for the period in which you would like to attend. Please bring your chromebook to this session!

Donations of formal attire were made from our local community. There are prom dresses, shoes, suits, and other formal wear to choose from. Stop by room 239 during a free period to see if there is something you would like to take home.

John Jay's Annual Talent Show is back for 2025. Please sign up for auditions, were held on December 16th in room 212. There will be open calls in January as well. We are looking for talented students, teachers, staff, and hosts for the show. Let's show off our talent!

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: If you stay after school for an activity, club or sport, you must have a bus pass from your advisor, teacher or coach to ride the late bus. You will not be allowed on the late bus without a pass. The only reason any student should be on campus after 2:25 is if they are at a club meeting, activity or sport.

YEARBOOK: The 2025 John Jay Patriot Yearbook is now on sale. To order your yearbook go to: Jostens John Jay. If you order your yearbook before October 25, 2024 with personalization, you can get up to 4 free icons. In order to ensure that we can add as much content and make it more valuable, yearbooks will not be delivered in the Spring but will be shipped individually in August to your home. When ordering a yearbook, please make sure your home address is correct.

Congratulations are in order for both of JJHS's Robotics Team for performances over the past week. On January 18th our JV team, Phoenix Robotics performed exceptionally well at the Qualifying Tournament at the Albany Academies and earned a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. Great job, Phoenixes!
As for our Varsity team, the JAYBOTS, the earned the 1st place Control Award in Albany and also competed yesterday at Broadalbin-Perth Jr./Sr. High School where they earned the 1st place Think Award. Way to go, JAYBOTS!'
CLUBS & ACTIVITIES:

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is still recruiting new members, and we want YOU to join us! If you're interested in developing leadership skills, exploring business careers, and participating in exciting events and competitions, FBLA is the perfect opportunity for you.
We meet Tuesdays after school in Room 145. It's a great chance to learn more about what FBLA has to offer and how you can get involved.

SPORTS:
Registration for the spring season for the Wappingers Crew Club ends on Wednesday, February 5th. There will be a parent meeting that evening at Roy C Ketcham HS at 7PM in the cafeteria. All prospective families and current families should attend to receive important information regarding our practice and racing schedule. Liam Bond, WCSD Swim - He went 2 personal best swims in Monday's swim meet against New Rochelle Bronxville. He dropped 7 seconds in his 200 IM and 3 seconds in his 100 butterfly
Isabella Bonura, Unified Bowling - bowled a great game vs. Rondout Valley bowling her personal best.
Vincent Cantone, Wrestling - (11th Grade) Vincent went 5-0 this weekend to win his first varsity tournament at Columbia High School. We also had 5 other wrestlers bring home some hardware.
Emma Espinoza, Gymnastics - 2nd on bars and 3rd all around at meet against Scarsdale on 1/13
Michael Forlivio, Basketball - Junior Guard, Michael helped the Patriots go 2 - 1 on the week, scoring 10 points, getting 7 assists, 3 steals, and 12 rebounds.
John Hansen - Boys Bowling - John had a standout performance against RCK bowling a 213,238, and 226.
Daniela Gonzalez - Girls Bowling - Daniela bowled an above average series with a 142, 133, and 144 against RCK.
Brooke Matessino, Basketball - 28 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Hit the game winning overtime 3 to beat Arlington 66-64!

Liam Bond, WCSD Swim - for another personal best swim in the 100 butterfly dropping another second to go a 1:05.31
Natalie Curatola, Bowling - Natalie bowled a 192 against Mahopac on Tuesday
Erik Guerrero, Unified Bowling - High Bowler of the match.
Joe Lachowicz, Bowling - Joe bowled a season-high 279 against Poughkeepsie on Thursday
Brooke Matessino and Caitlin Cummings, Basketball - each had 19 points in a win at Poughkeepsie.
Rhiona McStay,Track & Field - (11th grade) 2 PR's in 55m at 8.02s and the 300m at 45.36s (3rd place) and Anchor leg of 4 x 200m (4th place)
Danny Morrison, Wrestling (10th Grade) - Danny had a big win in our dual meet with RCK and then took 3rd place at the Beacon Tournament this weekend, helping the team take 4th out of 16 teams. In the 3rd place match he avenged a loss from earlier in the season!
Ryan Shapiro,Track & Field -(11th grade) Earned 2 medals at the Northern Counties meet in Long Lump 18'05" (PR) (4th) and 36' 9" in Triple Jump (3rd). Also, he filled in at the last minute for a leg of the 4x200 with a solid 23 seconds split.
Evelyn Warner, WCSD Gymnastics - for impressive performances on beam and Bars at all three meets last week
Justin Wilcox, Basketball - Senior guard, Justin scored 13 points against Poughkeepse on Thursday
