This Week I Learned

You can treat Garrosh like a free engage (leap sonya with Wrath). (Double support helps)

Slowing Sands means mega super duper slow on D.Va since she slows herself at the same time.

Hogger Hogg Wild has reached max speed, but if you bounce off terrain, you are already at max speed.

Hogger really sucks in Valeera

Yrel can take Sacred Ground if you're running a hammer comp.

Leoric’s Burning Despair damage “absurd”

Strategy

Arjade

Arjade the nexus neophyte here, I love your podcasts and listen on my way to work. I am a new parent and as such don't have heaps of times for games. In the past I have tried to get into my fave hero Tassadar but feel like he is a bit too niche to be useful for a filthy casual like myself.

Now that my son is old enough to entertain himself for 5 minutes without licking power points I am starting to get a bit of time for gaming once more. After a long time of being crap against the computer I'd really like to give learning to play properly a go. I feel like there is so much to learn and the whole world seems to just take moba terms as given at this stage, and somehow I missed the boat.

Is there any resources you could direct me to, or perhaps you guys could dedicate 5 minutes to a flyby run down on a slower episode, to help me simply learn what is meant by the macro (coming from starcraft is that resource management or just my build) and what each role is meant to be doing?

I feel somewhat overwhelmed and when I watch videos on youtube or try to read reddits I feel pretty stupid. I'm inundated with stuff which I am sure is easy to learn if only I could find a resource. If this question is too dumb to air, I understand but please could you nudge me in the right direction.

Yours sincerely,

A baby brained, filthy casual who would absolutely love to help keep this game afloat and join this outstanding community.

How do you guys evaluate talents? I can never tell what's good and what's not and why

So after listening to episode 358 I think. I am seriously curious about Kyle’s anime tastes. He sounds quite fickle so I will offer up one of what I think is quite possibly the best Manga I have read recently. Give “The Promised Neverland” a shot. Read the first two volumes and see if you are hooked.

Also, the Anime “Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon” (Dan Machi) makes me want to pick up and play D&D. So if you have a spare 22 minutes give the first episode a shot. Yes I am a parent of two so I highly value my free time but I do think it might tickle your fancy.

For HotS how should I practice to get back into Storm League? It's been over a year now. Would like to try to not ruin my Gold 1 almost plat status.

Frollino95

I write this question because I'm in a somewhat peculiar situation in my HOTS gaming experience, and maybe you have some suggestions to help me.

I’m a decent low plat player, but somewhere around 2019 first season the game randomly decided to destroy my enjoyment by removing me about 600 point for every loss and giving me only 100 for every win, dropping me very fast in low gold. My MMR is still pretty high, as confirmed by an extensive collection of data in HOTSlogs and the fact that I get paired almost exclusively against smurf accounts. This situation, combined with the fact that i’m a decent player but nowhere near good enough to carry a normal low gold team against one or two smurfs made it impossible for me to ever recover my rank, and i’m stuck here with my duo buddy, losing game after game vs either smurf accounts or five stacks. Is there a magical way to solve this? And if there’s no solution, do you think there should be?

We gave up after a 20 minute queue and a 21 minute queue (I am diamond 1 and subject to the new rule)

Kyle

I do still struggle with anxiety of joining games with live players. I rarely, if ever, dabble in QM, but never have tried storm league.

The feeling of being bad and letting the team down makes me too anxious to even queue up. I am not the best at mobas, and have slow reflexes. I'm a shift worker, so scheduling to play with others regularly is hard, even if I had friends who played this game.

Anyways, just would like your thoughts, or hear what makes you feel confident in HOTS, or any recommendations! Much love from Cape Town South Africa!

A more strategy based question if you want to talk about playing the game instead of blizzard ignoring it, might be some info Kyle can pull from his NGS/HL games:

How do you recover when behind in organised games? It's rare that someone is out of position in a lane for an easy kill, is there anything you can do other than safely soaking? When can/should you take a risky boss or camp steal as a last attempt to pull the match back into your favour?
