Hebrews 11: Faith That Moves Us Forward

Creation and the Unseen

————————————————————————————————————————

This week Pastor Jim continued his new series titled “Faith That Moves Us,” from Hebrews 11:1-3 by digging into how faith engages the unseen.

Context is always important, so before going to Hebrews 11, Pastor Jim had us take a look at Hebrews 10:36-37. Read these verses together.

Pastor Jim discussed that there is always a gap between doing God’s will and receiving what’s promised. This gap is either filled with faith or frustration.

How does faith engage the Unseen?

  1. Faith roots our hope in the second coming of Christ
  1. In the 1st century, hope resided in Jesus coming back. Do you believe that this holds true today? Where do people place their hope?
  2. Read aloud Titus 2:11-13 and Revelation 19:11-16

  1. Faith sees past a temporary present to an eternal future
  1. Read aloud 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.
  2. How do we fix our eyes on what is unseen?
  3. Pastor Jim mentioned the 3 conditions of energized, neutralized, and vandalized. What do these mean to you? Which have you experienced? Where would you say you are today?

  1. Faith ultimately focuses on Jesus Himself
  1. Read aloud Colossians 1:15-16 and Colossians 1:19-23.
  2. Of these verses, which one(s) stand out to you/speak to you personally and why?

Prayer Focus: Thank the Lord for the confidence and assurance we have in HIM! Thank Jesus that He will one day return and set all things right. As Jesus to help you fix your eyes on Him and to strengthen your faith. Ask for the strength and grace to persevere through the “gaps” of life.
